Mati and JorDan: Are your DHs going on the Disney scuba in Nassau? My DH was scheduled for the Cozumel Disney scuba, which had great ratings from past cruisers. However, in the Passporter guide, the Nassau scuba trip sponsored by Disney has horrible ratings. Did you find any references to the Nassau dive trip that might make it look more appealing? Right now my DH is wondering whether to try and go on his own rather than with the Disney group, and I would love to know anything you know about the dive. Thanks.

just checking in!!

We just got up and getting ready to leave!

Lysney c-ya tonight!!!

Sue -- sorry to hear about your purse. That is horrible! I lost my credit card once in NYC on a one night stop over before we flew to Finland. That was HORRIBLE. I can't imagine losing the whole purse before a trip. No worries -- we will be on the boat chilling out soon!

Andy -- safe travels please. Look forward to hearing how your and Lynsey's mini-meet goes tonight!

Belinda -- you know I expect to find out when the VR thing gets sorted out so keep me on that list.

V -- no worries on the kite, it was sweet of you to offer.

Adedward -- no clue the DCL dive got bad reviews. I'll look into that today. Yoni is diving in GC which has great reviews. He has only been diving twice before in his life (St Maarten & St Thomas). He tried going in Nassau last time but the boat/truck? broke down so it was cancelled. I wonder why the dive was rated poorly? Hmmm.......more research.

So far no answer from the Sheraton. I'll call them today when I wrap up my work stuff ().

Have a good day everyone!!!!

We too are wondering what to do in Nassau. Below is a note from another board that I thought was pretty good and might be what we do. I have read that it is better to take a taxi instead of the water taxi. Cabbage beach sounds pretty good, we like walking along the beach.

We spent last Saturday on Paradise Island off the NCL SKY. We first went to Atlantis via a water taxi, walked around, almost paid the hefty $35 for the Dig Tour, but asked if we could see the free part first. You could tell the nice lady selling tickets didn't want to sell us the Dig tour pass. She had this look on her face, like, "Please don't waste a $145 ". The Aqua-adventure tour and the beach day tour was sold out. (this was about 11:00 am.) So, we walked down some steps to a huge wall of water. Very impressive. My kids, ages 6, 10, and 11 were very impressed. We saw two huge stingrays, which is what they really wanted to see. After taking pics, (I'll attach some) we decided not to take the Dig tour and headed to Cabbage beach.

I think we took the long way around, because it was quite a trek and it being 90 degrees and humid didn't help. There were plenty of signs pointing you to the public beach so we didn't get lost. The beach was wall to wall people. We bypassed the beach chairs and vendors and headed to the right until we found a spot with as few people as possible. The water was gorgeous and warm. The waves weren't bad at all. My kids loved it. there was a little hut nearby selling drinks, and we got cans of pop and ice for $2 a piece. As the afternoon went by it got more crowded. Pretty soon a gang of drunk college boys found their way to our spot, so around 3:00 we left. Right at the road were several taxi's lined up to take us back to the ship for $4 a piece. This was very interesting. All I can say, is hold on and close your eyes. I can't believe how crazy the taxi driver drove. Overall, for an almost free day, it was awesome. It beats staying on the ship anyday. We debated for so long what to do in Nassau, but this really was a fun day. I'm a beach lover, so take that into consideration. I'm glad I can say I saw Atlantis, however I'm even more glad I had the opportunity to swim in the pure blue water of the bahamas.

According to a post on the main boards (based on the 5/2 cruise):

Formal Night: Monday
Pirate Night: Tuesday
Semi-Formal Night: Wednesday

We had Palo on Tuesday, which I definitely want to change since we did Palo on Pirate night last time and felt like we missed some of the "fun."

Can't guarentee this is correct, but it's probably pretty close.

I am definitely not happy with this arrangement since I now have Palo on Pirate night and I can't change it because it is in the private room. My family coming in from CA for their first cruise have put together pirate outfits for the dinner they will now not get to experience. And because of the shift in the sea day we have Palo dinner followed by the pirate buffet followed by the Palo brunch the next morning. Definitely a food overload.

I would have preferred an extra sea day or arriving late Wed. to Nassau leaving Thursday as a sea day to this complete shift in the schedule.

I guess I need to stop this obsessive planning and just go with the flow.

See you in 3 days.

Andy - Glad to hear your guys are safe and have made it to PA already!

I sent an email to my TA about the whole thing last night. We have booked Thursday for Palo since it was a sea day, but now that it's all changed, I wanted to switch to Wed. I told her that it was unexceptionable that Disney expected me to get up at 1AM to book Palo on a specific night and now they are willing to do nothing. She contacted a clueless CM and then left a message for the supervisor. This is what she got back:

Amanda,

I just heard back from Disney cruise line and they said that ALL Palo reservations that were scheduled for Thursday are automatically being changed to Wednesday for the same times that were originally booked. They are locked out by the ship directly from making any other changes because of this. The ship’s food manager is taking care of the changes and to avoid confusion and overbooking they are not allowing the offices in Florida to make any changes whatsoever to the dining reservations, requests, Palo, etc. Any changes need to be made once onboard the ship at Rockin’ d Bar.

Amanda,

I just called to double check again and they said that Brunch, Tea and dinner reservations are being moved from Thursday to Wednesday

That is what Disney told me yesterday when I asked (after she put me on hold to confirm it with someone else). I can understand Tea and Brunch being switched automatically but there may be other reasons that Dinner is scheduled the way we schedule it (anniversaries/Birthdays, etc) not just based upon the ship status.

Has anyone booked a room for the day @ Comfort Inn to use Atlantis before, I am thinking of doing this, but I am not sure if it is worth it...w/taxes the AAA room rate is $255.10:confused3

The may 2nd Navs show dinner as 5:45pm and 8:15pm, so I guess they are only doing 2 times for sure now.

We were planning on doing the dive through DCL at Cozumel and I know my hubby only feels comfortable diving through DCL at Nassau.
Also didn't know about the bad reviews.....hmmmmmm

Eventhough I was looking forward to Cozumel and my son is a little heart broken he wont get his sombrero:eek:. I am happy they picked Nassau. The inlaws have never been there and if the kids dont wanna get off the ship that is fine DH will go to the straw market with his parents and the kids and I will hang on the ship.:dance3: We were just there last November I am sure things havent changed much:) I am really more excited about being out on the ocean on a cruise everything else is a bonus. OH and castaway cay is my favorite so I like that too:thumbsup2

Ok --ugh. Now I am unhappy.

We booked Palo on Thursday night because it is Yoni's birthday. I could care less if it is a sea day or Nassau (although would have changed it for Pirate night so Dave, I feel your pain.

We booked the REAS partially because we could book our PALO reservations early and now will have to go wait in line at Rockin' D when we get on board to change it.

*SIGH* Ok, need to keep a calm happy attitude. I guess, on the positive side, if we have dinner in the dining room on his birthday everyone can celebrate with us right?

FYI for all those looking to upgrade at the port: I just checked availability and they are showing a lot of verandah availability (CAT6 - 5; CAT5 - 7; CAT4 - 7). Seven rooms are the max that they show on the website so there are probably more rooms available than that. I am pretty sure they close out public sales either today or tomorrow so there may be some pixie dust out there for some of you.

All -Sorry to say that we will not be traveling after all. DH went into the Hospital last night with Pneumonia. His right lung was very extended that the DR said he should not be getting on a plane on Friday. So... luckily we have trip insurance. He probably would not get out of the hospital until Friday or Saturday.

Have a wonderful trip and thank you for all the Dis Frindships in the short month that I have been with the group.
