May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

Someone has mistakenly signed up for Secret Mickey participation on our line of the Event Sheet. The message is:

yes Sarah and maybe Hunter (if we have a kids' group as well)

I didn't remove it yet as I wanted to give whoever the message belongs to a chance to move it.

We changed our cabin today to a GTY cabin and saved a lot of money.

:cool1:We finally got our flight info from DCL today.:cool1: It is nice to have this info. I already went online and checked our seat assignments. I also changed a few too!;)

:) remember to go to the spreadsheet and put your flight info in!

Well hi everyone!! I know my husband and myself were planning to do the shots around the ship. Since I have no kids attending I won't know when the sleepover would be? Does anyone know if we are able to get the cruise director to add the date to the daily sheets we receive so we could see it then? I would however thing a date during all our sea days would work best, preferably maybe like 10 in the evening as the starting point (to be sure we have a good time for the late diners?

Still waiting on my FE to arrive that I ordered online, as I am not crafty enough to make my own.

As for the shore excursions we also chose the Mtn Villages, we are doing the Gothic City walk in Barcelona, Gibraltor tour on our own (through Disney) and I can't think of what the other one was.

They do not add private functions to the navigator - things on the navigator are events that are open to everyone. Even things like the DVC reception are not in there.

With that said - is anyone putting together a DIS navigator? We have done this in the past . . . .

Maybe we can somehow find out when the sleepover is ahead of time...I'll try. If not, could we possibly post it on the common dry erase board that someone was going to keep on their door? I wouldn't mind putting it on mine but I'm a gty room and still don't have a room assignment. That way everyone interested in the "shots heard about the ship" could check that board on day 1 or 2 and we should know by then when the sleepover is. 10:00pm sounds like a great time as we have late seating also.

I will try to find my navigators from the EBTA last year and see when the sleep over was.

I know in the past some cruises when they did shots around the ship they did them everynight - the meeting time and place was the same and whoever could come that night would. I think they had a blast seeing what was going on each night in the different nightclubs.

I can definately watch the Navigators, but how would we know which bar is the starting bar? That was why I figured if we could manage to get the cruise director or whoever to put the date and time and starting point in the Navigator would be really helpful.

I also like the board idea, however I wouldn't know who would be keeping that. Does sound like a nice idea.

Just pick a bar ahead of time as the "first" one before we go.

I don't know if they'll put private group activities on the Daily Navigator. However, we could easilly decide now where to start, and then just move on from there! :rotfl: My recommendation would be to start at the top of the ship and work our way down. :drinking1: That way if we fall down the stairs, we're at least going the right direction! :lmao::crutches:

Kids will be having Secret Santa... They will be in with adults if necessary. No reason to keep them out.
On my last crew we had lots of people in Secret Mickey and they were mixed with the kids... It was great!

Sorry, Carol. Not sure what happened there. Somehow my line was removed and that box ended up on your line. I deleted the comment.

Does anyone know how the new boarding process works, if you are arriving at the port on a DCL bus from the Hyatt?

We are Platuim Castaway Cay members. I understand that we can board any time and do not need a number. But we are traveling with some friends & it is there first time on. How will they receive their boarding number? Does this effect what bus we will we be on?

We were on the Dream last month and it seemed to us that your number was assigned by your check in. So the earlier your friends check in, the better number they will get. But this was all from observation so not completely sure. We were dropped off by my husband who then returned the rental car, we were checked in and relaxing a bit over on the couches, and he arrived shortly before our number was called for boarding. As for the "online check in times" they want us to sign up for, no one was checking these at all, and I have heard it's more for Disney staffing purposes than anything else.

If you are arriving by DCL bus you do not have to select an arrival time on the online check in. You will be given a boarding number when you board the bus at the airport. We got to the airport at 9:30 and were boarding number 3 but I am not sure how they do it for the platium, we are still gold, but the trick to an early boarding number on the disney bus is get to the airport for check in early - I think they start checking in at 8 or 8:30 - you will do your check in at the airport - this will help get your friends an early boarding number.

Like this idea - especially as our cabin is way in the bottom decks -:)

Love it :rotfl2:

We will get to mco at 10 am on dcl air w/ transfer , once on can you get off and check out the area? liqueur stores etc.

I was thinking this morning that my family should take our (mostly) matching UNC t-shirts to wear one day. That got me to thinking - maybe we should pick a couple of sea days as "theme" days for the DIS group. The idea is that we'd pick a theme - and all wear something that falls into it.

The one I was thinking of was "Sports Teams". This means wearing a tee-shirt or jersey or something representing your hometown or local area sports team - or just your favorite. So my family would wear UNC t-shirts, but our local high school or the Carolina Panthers work as well.

Something that would be more obvious would be a color-themed day - everyone wears a shirt of that color. Like green (preferably lime) or red or blue. Actually, it would be cool to get a group photo on a color-themed day!

I thought it might be a neat way to confuse the rest of the ship as they see a couple hundred people wearing the same-ish thing. :rotfl:I thought it could be fun to do a couple of times - any more than that might make packing more difficult - or create more laundry! :laundy: :rotfl2:

Thank goodness you're not Dook fans! :lmao:

I'm a UNC alumna ('92). I'll be bringing a UNC shirt, too! (Maybe a National Championship one, if we're lucky. :cheer2:)

You are basically limited to the shops in the airport - which there are some I have also heard of someone once talking about taking a taxi from the aiport to a close by store, getting things and then coming back to the airport. My suggestion is pack a suitcase that you will claim at the airport with the liquor in it (packed very well) and then take the liquor out - put in your carry on for the ship and give the bag minus the alcholol back to DCL at the luggage drop off. It would take you less time than finding a store, and most likely be cheaper!

I like that too LOL. I wasn't sure with the Navigator I just knew for instance Carnival would post private functions in theirs if you spoke with the cruise director. So it looks like we need to pick a date, bar and time so that we are all know well in advance. I am thinking I will type myself up a small sheet with all the reminders to take in my bag with us, or I could put these type of things in my Ipod!!!!!

It would seem from the Disney deck plans either Cove Cafe (adults only lounge) or Signals are both located on Deck 9. At least they don't seem to have the 20 or so bars the Carnival ships claim to have or I wouldn' make it back to my cabin LOL!!!

I think there's still officially an "Outlook Bar" on Deck 10 overlooking the adult pool, but I don't think I've seen it open but once or twice in my 4 Magic cruises. I vote for meeting in the Cove Cafe - it's not a bar, but probably a good meeting place, since it's enclosed.

With all this talking about it, I suppose I should update the roll call from "maybe" to "yes". :rotfl:

Here is the list of people who said they would contribute to the lanyard costs - please make sure your name is on here if you were wanting to participate in this DIS gift! If I have forgotten someone please let me know ASAP! Right now we have enough donations for the donation amount from each who pledged $25 max - to only be $21.25! We do have a few who donated either more or less than the amount (and every $ counts!) so the math doesn't come out exactly correct if you try to divide out the numbers below but I have on my spreadsheet and I want to say a big thank you to everyone who volunteered to donate! I will be sending out emails later today to those I have emails for!

Actually you can get booze in Cove Cafe! I know :) but there is also a bar right outside cove cafe (below the Outlook Bar)

If you are on the Lanyard team (or think you are :) ) please let me know if you DID NOT get an email or a facebook private message. I may have missed some people!
