:sad2: DH and I aren't on Dr. Cavin's list. :confused3

Harry and Donna, both 54 yr. old sickeningly proud grandparents.

It's OK Dr. Cavin. I'm sure it was just an oversight. Just messing with you.

I did have you listed before I posted it, thinking one of your GK were going, but then I wasnt positive they were this time... :surfweb:

Have been lurking (what a creepy phrase) for quite some time. Just wanted to check in and say "Hello". It will be my husband and myself. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. We did the eastern in May '03 and western in May '04.
My husband's sister and brother-in-law are traveling with us this time. This is their first Disney cruise. They had one other cruise experience several years ago that was less than perfect, mediocre service and horrific weather. My sister-in-law had such a bad time she can't, or won't, remember the cruise- line. We are so hoping they have a wonderful time, since we did invite them and have regaled them stories about how great DCL is.
My husband and I love Disney, have been DVC members since '93 and I worked for the Mouse in the Disney Stores for 11 years.
We too are annoying and sickeningly new grandparents. Our daughter blessed us with twins, a boy and a girl, January 5. They are the light of our lives. Be warned if you see a woman walking around with a photo album!

Dr. Cavin, it is just me and DH cruising. We need to rest up from all the babysitting we do. The DGD's are adorable but tiring.

Welcome Linda! Twins, how exciting! A boy and a girl at the same time. Oh, you will have so much fun with them. All the grandparents will have to get together and share stories and pictures.

Donna

Thanks so much for all of the info you've shared! I really appreciate you DCL veterans! :thumbsup2

Welcome Linda!!! It's nice to have you join us from the land of the lurkers, LOL!!! :rotfl2:

Congrats on the twin grands, my cousin's wife had a set of quads a few years back, 3 boys and 1 girl, they named the girl after our daughter Angelina. We saw them recently, the poor mom is still going crazy and accepts all the help she can get!!!

We are now working on getting our clothes together, since they have been packed away all winter, they will be getting a little freshening up before being packed in the suitcases.

Welcome

My family is on the cruise as well. Been reading the other boards for over a year looking for advice and tips in anticipation to our first cruise but never thought to look on this board until I saw a post about our cruise on the main page yesterday. Our docs came yesterday and we are thrilled. There will be a total of 8 of us including two grandkids. I'll try to get up to speed with everyone and read the last 56 pages of posts! But if you see a group of people mulling around the ship looking dazed and confused say "Hello" we'd love to meet you.

Got the cruise docs last night! Whew!

I was really surprised to see how little there was to fill out. I wasn't expecting a little book". How convenient.

I am getting so excited. Need to work on the pillowcase and door magnet this weekend.

Does anyone have any really good packing tips?? I've packed several times for WDW, but this time I'm a little intimidated. Maybe it is all the dress clothes that have me worried. Not to mention my dd wants to bring her Belle dress and pirate costume!!

Hey Can't W8,

Welcome!!! Welcome!!! Welcome!!!

What a "small world" I live in West Deptford also, not only that, but I am also the water meter man for the township. Speaking of which, my morning break is about over and I have to get back to the Harker Village (Oakview School area) and get some meters read, LOL!!!

What are you doing for your pillowcases? We bought plain white ones for our boys to leave at guest services to have the characters sign. I thought of having their names embroidered, but there really isn't a close place nearby to have it done. I guess I can always leave a sticker near the opening along the edge and ask to leave it blank and have it done later.

As for packing, I come from a military family background (dad served 26 years in the Navy) and have been rolling my clothes since I was about 5 or 6 to fit the most clothes in each case that we can. They also come out far less wrinkled. For our boys, I roll an outfit up: shirt, shorts, socks and underwear and stick them by outfits in a zip lock- far cheaper than vacuum bags. Smoosh out all the air and close. They look freeze dried, but they don't wrinkle that much at all and you can fit in tons in small spaces. I know that they will at least have stuff that matches and they can pull a bag out and dress themselves each morning. My biggest suggestion would be to make sure all new clothes fit the kids well too. When we went to WDW in January, I forgot to bring my ds5's belt. He got a few new pair of zip- off pants for Christmas that I packed and wouldn't you know, they fell right off of his waist to his ankles. I thought they had those elastic pulls you can button to make the waistband smaller. Luckily I always pack an extra couple outfits in case they get too wet or dirty one day and I had extra for him to wear. I usually also bring an extra shirt for each of us into the parks each day in case we get rained on or spill too much stuff on ourselves. Those Mickey bars love our kid's shirts. I don't really mind except for when we go to character meals and take lots of pictures....I don't want the stains to be too visible in the pictures since we send a lot out. We always pack more than we should, but I'd rather not have to do laundry on vacation or spent half a day shopping for something we forgot. For formal/dress clothes, we keep everything in dry cleaner bags (come out less wrinkled) and put in our long garment bag. They hang on hangers and you fold the bag in half. When we get to our destination, we can either hang the bag or take the stuff out and hang up right away.

It is "a small world after all". I hope that you had a nice break and you're enjoying the weather. I work in an office building in Philly and I'm very jealous right now since I see the sun is shining so brightly but I'm sure it'll be shining even brighter and better once we arrive in sunny FLA. in 17 days. My son's family is coming in from Williamsport Pa. the night before and we're flying out Saturday morning around 8am. So we will be doing the mad dash from airport to the port. We're using Happy Limo, used them 4 years ago and they were quite nice and right on time. BTW, Happy Belated Birthday!

Hi Can't W8. Love that screen name! DH and I are flying in the morning of the cruise too. This is our 9th DCL cruise. Flying in the same morning works well for us. Our flight doesn't leave Cleveland until 9:30. I don't mind getting to the port a bit later than most. No long lines to wait in and your room is ready so you can drop off your carryon luggage and change into shorts if you want before heading to the buffet.

TSirgey...DW went shopping, again, yesterday as she wasn't sure what to do for Pirate night. My DD's are kind of "girly-girls"...so pirate stuff doesn't go over as well as a pink dress. DW found some basic black skirts/skorts & tops at Target,$5.99 each, then they accessorized with necklaces and a pirate hat. This went over very well! They were a cheap solution to our Pirate costume challenge. And technically they can wear the skirt on another day of the cruise.

For formal night, they are going to wear their Snow White & Cinderella dresses. princess: My thought was that they are not going to fit in them forever and if they spill on it, so be it. The character dresses they are bringing are their formal "ball dresses" in all of the stories (except snow white), so what better dress to wear on a Disney Cruise formal night than a character dress?!

Hanover - thanks for the packing tip. I'll pass that on to DW so she doesn't overpack, as I know she will.

Anyone else have second seating for dinner?

Hanover...it's a small world so I'll ask anyway.

My father-in-law was in the Navy as well, about 20+ years. He was in the Class of 1960, and the Cpt. of the Navy Football team. Any chance your dad played ball?
