Seacrest,
Are you without power from the heat? Take care of yourself and Mrs. Seacrest.
BTW, I loved the Matterhorn video. I always wondered what that ride was like, and now I know. Thanks!
Jo
Fortunately, we only had two short "brown outs" that lasted less than 15 seconds a piece on Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. Other than that, the power has been working fine here in Santa Monica.
It has been in the 90's since Thursday. Today it is forecast to be around 82 and then tomorrow dropping down to 73.
Glad you enjoyed the Matterhorn ride! We drove down to DL on Friday afternoon around 3:30 to meet up with some friends. Incredibly, it only took just over an hour to get there, in spite of it being the start of a holiday weekend.
I think we got into the park around 5:00 p.m. then headed over to Innoventions for our meet up. It wasn't very crowded and we were able to jump onto Space Mountain in about 15 minutes We got fastpasses for another ride later on. After that, we went over to Buzz Lightyear Spin, another short wait time! Next up was the Matterhorn - wait time was only 10 minutes or so.
I love this old ride! Next time, I will do a night time video.
We decided to head over to DCA to ride California Screamin'. By then the sun was going down and it was still quite warm, but not horrible. The wait time at Screamin' was posted for 25 minutes. Got in line and about 5 minutes later, the ride stops...power outage. It also affected the nearby Carousel too. Bummer. They told us that the ride would be closed for the rest of the day. They had to evacuate the people on the ride and it would take about hour or so, by then the park would be closing.
So we walked over and rode Mulholland Madness. My wife and I had never rode it and since the wait time was only 15 minutes we jumped on it. I loved it! It has a lot of sharp turns and some neat dips. The kids liked it too. After that we headed over to the Monster's Inc. ride since our friends had never ridden it before. They really like the ride a lot. Especially the last part of the ride with Roz.
We were a bit hungry and wanted to avoid the Electrical Parade madness at DCA, so we headed back into DL and over to Bengal BBQ. We had spicy BBQ beef skewers - yummy! While eating, Fantasmic was going on. We couldn't see the show, but we could see the firework flashes and hear the music. Since Indiana Jones is right across the way from the BBQ place we jumped on to that ride. I think we waited less than 15 minutes! I love the snake room! As we exited IJ, we walked over to POTC and virtually walked on to the ride. I think we had less than 5 minutes wait time. Got really wet on the ride for some strange reason. I never get wet on that ride. My wife said it was all the BBQ I ate and it loaded down the boat. Whatever! When we got off the ride, we showed our friends the Club 33 door. They had never seen it or even noticed it before.
It was about 10:30 p.m. and it was still warm, but comfortable and nice. We had our FP for Space Mountain and we got on the ride around 20 minutes. The line inside was a bit long. When we got off the ride, the closing announcement was made...weird...DL closing at 11:00 p.m. on a Friday night.
So we casually strolled out of the park with our friends, promising to make future plans for meet ups at DL and other fun stuff.
What a nice way to end the summer season!
Too bad I am working today! LOL! The most productive thing I have done is this post and it is almost lunch time.
