Ok...don't laugh...here is a picture of me, my brother and sister at Disneyland's, "it's a small world" Sept. 1970. I was nine years old!

disney001.jpg

Looks just like pics of me around the same time! I grew up in LA, and I was 7 in 1970...

My uncle is now home. He is so glad to be out of the hospital. They have a nurse coming in regularly to help out with the medications.

Great news! Let us know if they ever find out exactly what caused it...

RF- good luck, honey. Mark and I were talking this morning about our money situation when we first got married. We got pregnant 5 months after we got married and it was rough, to say the least. There were many many times after the baby was born that we had no money after paying bills and buying diapers (I got free formula-- my Mom worked for Pediatricians and their drug reps shipped cases and cases of it to me- I had to have one whole room just for all the formula I got- I was so blessed)- anyway- there were so many times that all of our groceries were bought on the credit card b/c we had nothing. When you first get married, it's tough at times, but when you look back on those years, you will look back fondly and remember the good times. Hang in there.

Great "mom" advice and encouragement :thumbsup2 I remember when my oldest son was born, not having enough money to wash clothes. The girl downstairs with her own baby was broke too. So we threw all the dirty baby clothes and sheets into a bathtub of hot water, dumped in a free sample box of Ivory Snow from the hospital, and took turns stomping on them (just like Lucy and Ethel stomping on grapes, remember that?) until they were clean, then stomped on them in 3 tubs full of hot water to make sure all the soap was out. Let me tell you, we had the cleanest feet in town! :rotfl2:

Hey All...hope you all had a nice weekend. Drop by DL for a couple of hours yesterday and tried to set a new score on Buzz and did...broke over a million!

Any tips for me? I'd love to smoke DH had have him wonder how the heck I did it!

I am actually thinking about September. It will be ho-o-o-ot :cool2: but since DH won't give up the DxDP - maybe we can hope for free dining and we can just upgrade to deluxe and save a bit off the usual price. :confused3

Value season starts in September. We stayed at the Pop last time, and it wasn't fancy, but it was totally fun. If they do free dining again, September is the time to go. As for the DxDP, depending on what it costs next year, and what you actually get...you might really want to run the numbers. DH and I love to eat, but we can't eat three TS meals a day...even have a hard time managing 2 on some days (like a character breakfast, then a later dinner, only snacking midday). Also, we might split an appetizer if we are really hungry, but really can't eat two full appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Look at all of the restaurants you'd like to try -- if you have 2-3 signatures on your list, you could always plan to pay OOP for some or all of them, or pay OOP for your cheapest TS meals (like breakfasts) to save your credits. But there are a ton of fun 1 credit restaurants, and some really great CS too. Getting the standard DDP, especially for free, might save you a LOT.

The best advice I can give you as a newlywed is stay out of debt. There are going to be expenses that you can't avoid like a car breaking down or a flat tire, etc. So there may be things like that that you have to charge just to stay afloat. Just have a positive attitude and know that if you both work hard and save, you can get ahead. It can also be fun to be creative with looking for ways to have fun without spending money.

Hang in there, things will get better. It just takes time and hard work. If you are creative and have a positive attitude, you will look back at these times as some of the best times of your life. It may be hard to see it now, but trust me. Just stay positive.

More excellent "mom" advice :goodvibes

5. My DH would say his favorite newlywed activity is free. ;)

Still free after 10 years, and still a great way to pass the time :rotfl2:

Hey, I was thinking Jan 31st to Feb 7th.

You know about the Superbowl being in Tampa that weekend right? I just wanted to make sure you knew, we were going Jan 28-Feb 3, but backed it up a week because they are expecting large crowds that weekend.

Just didn't want you to be surprised. :goodvibes

Congrats Aunt Mari!! :goodvibes What does your DD think of the baby?

Busy day in Mayerland today!

Jo - I hope you have a stress-less packing and moving day.

KB - Glad you like my pic...my wife is on a mission to find those shorts I was wearing in that pic...I think she might only end up with boxers. To get the high scores on Buzz - hit the triangles and diamonds, and the little hole in Zurg on his chest in the second room.

Mari - Congrats on becoming an Auntie! Have fun visiting today.

NC - Any pics from LV? What "similar photos" are you talking about???

Lake - Have a nice day swimming!

RF - The first few years are going to be little rough. It is going to take time to adjust to the married life and figure stuff out. Financially, just live within your means - control your expenses, increase your income, and save as much as you can. When my wife had our kids, she did tutoring on side and was able to make some money in the afternoons. I have always had side businesses going. And start making investments into stocks, t-bills and cds. Even if it is small, it will start adding up over time. I have found if I lowered my expectations, then I encounter fewer disappointments and less stress in my life. And the less stress in your life, the more healthier you are going to be. Don't worry you and your husband will are going to make it all happen. Talk to each other and encourage each other - you get through this season in your life just fine.

:scared1: I just did my daily airfare check and AirTran lowered the flights from $109 to $95! I don't know what to do now. I was waiting for SW to release their rates (and hoping for a better experience with them) next month because AT's earliest non-stop flight down is at 12:50pm. We want to leave early in the morning this time since we cut the trip back a day. . . Do you think I'll get better than $95??? (we usually only pay $69-$79)

What to do, what to do. . . . .

Just heard, Sea and came running to see if you're okay----

Jo

I was so glad to see you posted.

Your family okay????????

Jo

We got a lot of rolling out here in Santa Monica. It lasted about 1 minute. I heard the epicenter was Chino Hills about 40 miles away from here. Going out to check for damage.
