Hi Sea!

Nice score! Does that make you a galactic hero? That is one of my dreams!

Mari - Sounds like you have lots of fun ahead of you.

Jo - Current temp - 97 - Feels like 102.

Currently in Las Vegas - 96 - Feels like 96.

I miss Vegas!

Shelly- and RF!!!!!!!!!!!

Know anyone or any organization that might want a big couch and a really nice boys bed with mattress--- it's a captain's bed with all the drawers and cubby holes up top------------?????

Goodwill doesn't pick up and the Salvation Army can't get here this week.

If you know of anyone who needs them- I'd be happy to give them away- but they'd have to come pick it up by Thursday. We don't have a truck to load it, so we can't deliver.

Thanks-

Jo

I would be interested, especially in the bed, but unfortunately we have no way of hauling right now either. DH had to give up his truck with the gas prices. :sad2:

Do you have Big Brothers/Big Sisters? Maybe try them. Or a blind organization?

hey all - i am thinking that it may be a possiblity that we have to cancel our may trip.... :guilty: i am so depressed about it.
money is soo tight right now and we don't even know if we can make our bills without getting 2nd jobs... ugh - i am sick to my stomach

but if there is any way possible - i guarantee that i am going on that trip next year

thanks for listening guys - just needed to vent a bit

Sorry you are having a rough time RF.

Hopefully things will get better soon! :wizard: And maybe you can take a shorter trip in Value season. . . .

that's what i am hoping shelly - maybe we'll change to january too! :rotfl: you'll convert all of the MAYers. Lol

I am actually thinking about September. It will be ho-o-o-ot :cool2: but since DH won't give up the DxDP - maybe we can hope for free dining and we can just upgrade to deluxe and save a bit off the usual price. :confused3

Plus - that will give us a bit more time to save :goodvibes

i took a peak at the snowbirds thread - it looks super fun!!!

i am hoping to have (or start) something like that if i go in a month other than may :)

outta here for the night mayers!!! :car:

everyone have a great night - and thanks for listening

Hey RF! I am so sorry about the money situation. Hang in there. Things will get better as you guys get more established. It just takes time. If you need to get a 2nd job go for it. I used to make scads of money waitressing when I was in college. Even after college, when I first had a teaching job, I would waitress on weekends. Teachers pay was not that great 20 years ago. I could work every Fri. night and Sat. night make almost as much in tips in a month as my monthly paycheck after taxes for being a teacher. If you can be really nice to people, quick with drinks and refills, make sure orders are correct when coming out of the kitchen and a little bit funny and personable, waitressing is an awesome way to make money. I think now it is a bit harder to make money waitressing as more people pay with credit card. Back then, you just pocket your cash tips, and not report them. At first I was reporting all my tips and my manager set me down and said, "Uh, honey only report $x.XX amount of your tips." I can't even remember why, but there was some sort of reason.

Then I thought when I married my DH that money would no longer be an issue. He was 30, and I thought well establised in the community, had a a good job, etc. I just didn't know why he was living with his parents. :confused3 Well, he had sunk every penny he had and was mortgaged to the hilt in a subdisvision development. I remember telling him I owed $300 on my credit card and I wanted to go back to waitressing before we got married so I could pay it off. He just laughed and said, "Honey, that's nothing." And then told me what his land mortgage was and his street development mortgage. Holy cow! We were so deep in debt, I never thought we would work our way out. It was unimaginable to me to owe that amount of money. 17 years later the good news is that we came out way ahead on that deal. It took about 3 years for us to break even (which was when we bought a house) and it was after our son was born (4 years later) that we really started to see a return on that investment.

The best advice I can give you as a newlywed is stay out of debt. There are going to be expenses that you can't avoid like a car breaking down or a flat tire, etc. So there may be things like that that you have to charge just to stay afloat. Just have a positive attitude and know that if you both work hard and save, you can get ahead. It can also be fun to be creative with looking for ways to have fun without spending money.

Hang in there, things will get better. It just takes time and hard work. If you are creative and have a positive attitude, you will look back at these times as some of the best times of your life. It may be hard to see it now, but trust me. Just stay positive.

Here are some of our favorite newly married, money saving, ideas:

1. Eat beans. They are way cheap, then later in the evening you can sing: Beans, Beans, Good for the heart, the more you eat the more you ______, well I am sure you know the song. We are pretty silly, and are easily entertained.

2. Have "Lady and the Tramp" cheap spaghetti by candle light night at home, once a week. I once caught myself on fire from our candles, which to this day my DH refers to me as his "smokin' hot" wife.

3. "Rent" movies from the public library. Hey, it's free.

4. Take long walks, go to the park together. Pack a picnic lunch. Feed the birds with your stale, moldy bread.

5. My DH would say his favorite newlywed activity is free. ;)

I know there are a lot more but these are just some of the ones that come to mind.

I bet some of the other girls on here have some great ways to save money and have fun. I think most everyone has been there at one time or another.

Huggie - What's up with the new ticker??? :goodvibes What are your dates? Looks like we won't miss each other by much.

Hey, I was thinking Jan 31st to Feb 7th.

hey all - i am thinking that it may be a possiblity that we have to cancel our may trip.... :guilty: i am so depressed about it.

Hey dont worry about it, Disney will always be there.

that's what i am hoping shelly - maybe we'll change to january too! :rotfl: you'll convert all of the MAYers. Lol

Don't worry, pay those bills and maybe start a disney fund. I am sure you guys can save up quick.

Thanks everyone for all of the support. It seems like most of you have your stuff together now - so it means a lot to know that there is a way out of this.

We'll work it out eventually and get out of this mess. Also, I know that I need to learn to not be such an instant gratification type of a person. Good things come to those that wait. :wizard:

We talked about our trip last night and DH really does still want to try and make it to Disney next year - mainly because we both want to start having kids a year after that and we know that we won't be able to go anywhere for a while after that. So, we discussed it - decided to wait the 4 months and try for September and free dining.

If we still can't make it, then WDW will always be there. So, we'll see. The last thing that I want to do is get another job - not because I am lazy - but because I am really selfish with my time. I left a job where I was making more money & that was closer to home because I wanted "bankers hours" and well I hated working every holiday and weekend. Well, I just feel like a fool now because now, I spend upwards of 2 hours round trip (sometimes more) I never see most of my friends (because they all still work night - and basically their night is just beginning when I am ready for bed  ) and now on top of it I may have to get another job just to make ends meet. LOL - It hardly seems worth it - all so I could get "more time" with my family and friends. It's pretty ironic if you think about it...

Thanks for being there MAYers - i know that I can always come here to vent. :flower3:

Enough about my drama - How is everyone else this morning???

NC - How awesome was your trip!?!?! I know that you miss it! :guilty: I have never been to Vegas - I would love the shows, but the gambling and the ummm.... ladies  just don't do it for me. :rotfl: So I have never gone because I didn't think that I would like it. I'm not nearly as jealous as I used to be - so maybe I will give it a shot sometime. :confused3

Jo - I am still trying to find someone to take that furniture for you. I would love to take it if I had somewhere for it to go - but LOL - I should really post a picture of my apartment sometime soon. :lmao: It's pretty entertaining really how small it is. And I really thought that my parents would be interested - but guess not...

Mari - So you only changed your Grand Gathering trip? So, you guys are still going in May too? :goodvibes

Mornin-

Super duper sonic speed drive by again, only faster this time----

the movers are coming! The movers are coming!! And I haven't thrown up once! YAY!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

RF- hon, you will get through this. Be patient, and wait. NC is right. There are a lot of things that you can do for fun thaat don't require much money. We live in a city that is beautiful, stunning and there are so many parks and such to go to for free or little money. AS far as the day in day out stuff, everyone when they first get marreed has money troubles. Unlesss you're Donald Trump. :) You'll look back on these times and smile. Believe that.

Everyone else, I'd love to hang out and talk, but I have to motor. It's an insane asylum around here and I'm trying ot hold it together.

I'll post again whenever I get the chance ------ have a wonderful few days!!!

We are still going in May..... That is our family vacation... in Jan only my DD and myself are going.

But everyone is right... at the begining of a marriage younever have money for anything. It will pass, once you get settled in and figure stuff out you will be fine. At the begining me and my DH would have NO money. We didn't start going on vacations until my DD was born. We went on little trips like atlantic city or the beach around NJ but nothing really big. We entertained ourselves with other things... movies, parks, museums, we are lucky that we have NYC 15 min away so we would go there and find something to do.... You will be OK. it just takes time. :grouphug:

GOODLUCK with the Move Jo......

Good Morning...
I see we are already in full swing today.

Shelly- I will get back to you soon in regards to a meeting place and time... this week has been crazy.. we have another house showing today, so i've been a bit busy... but we are all really excited to get to the BURGH this weekend.

Rusafee - Hang In there. I know that planning the trip is so exciting and you get caught up in it all, but as NC said... it's so much more important to try and stay out of debt than to have that trip right away. The girls are right Disney will always be there. We waited 10 years, and paid off all our student loans... I'm sure you wont have to wait as long as I did. haha Other trips just came up first for us.:goodvibes

NC- so glad Vegas was great for you and DH.:)

Jodi- Wishing you luck today... and hopefully I'll get some of those quick sell vibes from you.:thumbsup2

Huggie- Yippee...another chance of us meeting in WDW I see. Since there may be a chance of me being there Jan/Feb too. Still waiting for my MIL tomake up her mind...:confused3

So now I'm off to follow my kids around the house and try and keep it clean. I think we'll go swim in the pool for a while so that we stay outside the house...:rotfl:

Wishing you all a great day.. and if you could send me some house selling vibes between 1:20 and 2:30 EST.... I'd love it!! LOL:cheer2:

I'll be sending you some pixie dust to sell the house....

I FORGOT to tell you guys...

My sister gave birth last night.... my new nephew Ethan Isaac was born this morning at 1:27 am weighing in at 7lbs 8 oz and measured 20 in... i'm going today after work to meet him. I can't wait. My BIL sent me a pic and he is the the cutest thing ever....
