Hi guys...just got home from DL. What a beautiful day we had. The weather was perfect - about 77, no wind, sunny and no crowds! More about that tomorrow...

More about today's fire:

I heard that the Back to the Future set with the famous town square with the clock tower was damaged in today's fire at Universal. The fire lasted for over 12 hours! The amusement park was closed and will reopen tomorrow.

Here is the whole story from our local CBS affiliate:

Wow! What a loss!

Have a great day MAYers! Off to workout then to run kids to football.

Morning All...

I was so sad to hear about Universal Studios....

Good morning! :goodvibes
RF - Still thinking about February??? :wizard:

February is a good time to go! The only draw back is that some rides are closed. The weather was awesome. It was a little chilly in the morning and evening but still warmer than Pennsylvania weather in Feb.

Well yesterday was quite eventful out here as you all know.

We were going to meet up with our friends at DL around 10 a.m., but when we heard about the fire, we were a little delayed getting out the door.

On our way down we stop at Walmart in Cerritos to get some stuff. As we were driving through the parking lot there, we saw one of our favorite restaurants...Wood Ranch BBQ...oh baby! Well, they don't open until 11:30 and we needed to meet our friends. So, we got back on the freeway and got into the park around 11:00 a.m. and met up with our friends.

Weather was perfect. In the mid 70's, sunny and no wind all day long. First ride, POTC...it was a short 10 minute wait. No problems until we got to the lift hill at the end of the ride and we stopped for about a minute right at top. It was freaky. Then we headed to HM and it was another short wait time, 10 minutes. Splash was closed... :( so we headed over to Big Thunder, waited about 15 minutes, the ride began and went into the tunnel and started up the first lift hill and then stopped. Ride shutdown! We had to be evacuated. Woo Hoo!!! Got video of that and will post it up. They gave us FPs and so we headed to Space Mountain and we had a great ride there. Two more friends showed up and we back to Adventureland to see if Indiana Jones was up and running yet. Nope, it was closed all day.:(. Jungle Cruise was on the agenda, but I skipped it and played pinball over at Indiana Jones Trader Shop.

We got hungry so we had lunch at French Market. Got a call during lunch that our other friend was waiting for us at DCA, so we finished up and headed over there to meet her and headed straight for CA Screamin' - another awesome ride. Then we strolled over to It's Tough to be a Bug show. That is so much fun. We wanted to head back to DL to get our seats for the Elvis tribute show in Tomorrowland, but we got stuck in the Pixar Play Parade. LOL.

As were walking between the parks in the Esplanade, a guy gave us 4 FPs for Space Mountain. Score! The kids went and rode it while we got our seats for the show.

The show was awesome. Got some pics and video that I will post later. After that, it was time to say goodbye to our friends :( and so we went our separate ways but we determined to see each other again soon.

Called over to the BBQ place to see how late they were open...until 10:00! Got there about 9:10 p.m. had a delicious meal and nice way to cap off a wonderful day at the park.

What a great day!

MORNING MAYERS!!!

Yes Shelly! That's all I can think about also:banana: :hyper:  - i need to go back... the only problem now is that we may have to move sooner than expected. :worried: - we caught wind that they are going to start working on the hulton bridge in oakmont where i live and that will only leave 1 route into the city  ... it already takes us an hour to fight thru traffic to get to work everyday and i can basically see the city skyline from where i live!!
so, we were looking for a house before and now the search has reached frantic! i am just hoping that we will be able to AFFORD to go again so soon after all that... :(

Congrats on soccer vacation!

Sounds like a great weekend Mari! :thumbsup2

Sea - That is so sad about the fire - I hope everything works itself out :)

Kait - Lets Go Pens!!!! Tonight's the night!!!

Renfroe - I have a chase that i just got and i am not entirely sure how it all works with the rewards - but if you book your disney vacation on it - there's no interest... and THAT'S good enough for me

Hey NC!!

Anyone hear about Jo and her travels yet??

Yea! Come on out, we would love to spend some time with you! Lot's of things to do and see out here. It would be a blast!

Morning Sea.... I hope you had a great weekend other then going to DL... i knwo anytime u go there ou have a great time.... i was actually looking at going to DL sometime soon. Maybe just me and DD.. we'll see what happens...

Sea - I can't wait to see videos.... YAY another dose i was going through withdrawl.... sheesh Sea it's been a while since you posted a video..... Well i'm thinking about doing like a long weekend trip to DL. I don't think i'll be going to WDW next year... my DH wants to go to dominican repuplic or mexico.. i don't want to go there i want WDW but i did decide the last 2 years... so i think i'll be taking a girls only trip to DL.... i'll definetly let you know if that ever happens and when....

Jo - Where r u? Did you move without letting us know......

Thanks Mari!

Weekend trips work great! Just don't pick a holiday weekend, DL gets very crowded. Maybe a trip after the Christmas holidays? That way you can see the IASW and HM holiday overlays and the Christmas parade. The decorations are usually up until the second week of January.

Spring time is also a good time...not hot and very mild weather.

Awesome report, Sea! Too bad Splash was closed, but otherwise sounds like you had a great day. Also, thanks for the link about the fire at Universal. Scary.

^^ Yea, it has been really weird lately. So many rides have broken down the last three times we have been there: WTP, POTC, Splash, IJTFI, BTMR, and Pinocchio. Maybe it is because we are going there too much and overloading the park! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

:wizard: DAY 3 - DHS :wizard:

OK - so we did not believe anyone when they said "take it easy your first day or two" - and boy, we PAID for that today!:faint:

So, we woke up today at 6 am to give ourselves enough time to go and eat breakfast at Boatwright's and then make it to DHS by ropedrop. We get in line when they should be opening at 7 on the nose... they are a little behind so we had to wait about 15 minutes for our waffles (which were not great - i think because we were like 3rd in line and they were just opening and the iron wasn't quite ready) so they were raw in the middle  YUCK! so I go get a danish and we get on our way.

The bus pulls up to DHS a little after 8 and DH is like "Oh good job honey, now we have an hour to wait" :worried: But then we look towards the gate and see some people already waiting - "see - i told you! :yay: people don't mess around in disney" (we were completely unaware that there was an am extra magic hour so that was a total shock when we see that there is like a million people there already)

So we get in the gates and there was this really cute older cast member that stops as us when we were walking in and comments on the newlywed hats. So he pats DH on the shoulder and says "Son, I have been married for 21 years and I only have one piece of advise..." so he opens his empty wallet and shows it to us and says "get used to it"... :rotfl2:

So as we are walking down the street where rope drop is going to be, we see three cast members on their walkie talkies and I hear them say "Ok, here they come - I see them" and he is looking right at me... huh???
SO - NATURALLY - I think of NC's story about being the chosen ones to open the park... My heart sinks (for the second time this trip)... the CM calls for everyones attention and says "LOOK EVERYONE!!! There are some newlyweds in the house! Everyone give them a big round of applause"... awww - people are too sweet when you wear those hats:goodvibes

Then the CM says all the rules "no running etc..." and tells us all that they will be opening up and tells us to follow the CM's to RNR and TOT. So naturally we follow... I ask DH which he wants to do first and tell him that we'll grab a FP for the other... He says "RNR - so we start to head there and realize that it's filling up quick - so we say oh well - we don't really want to waste precious time going to TOT for FP'S so we get a FP for RNR and get in the stand by line... we only waited about 5 minutes & IT WAS AWESOME!!! My DH said that it was his favorite ride at WDW (besides EE - but we'll get there next installment :goodvibes )

We get off the ride and head over to TOT where there is an angry mob standing outside of the still closed gates  - I guess that they were having trouble with the ride and kept telling people "it'll just be a few more minutes" well, by this point people were yelling and leaving the line and DH and I took advantage and got in line ... literally 2 minutes later the gates opened and we went right in!!! Less than a 5 minute wait there too!!! :woohoo: so it's now like 8:20 and we already did the two biggest attractions that there are :rolleyes1 ... hmmmm hmmmm hmmm ...:rolleyes1

so next we head over towards the muppet 3-d theatre and see that (it's cute but NOTHING compared to phillharmagic) so, we just kind of walk around everywhere taking pictures and went on the great movie ride.

Our lunch reservation was at 50's Prime Time at 11:30 and it was sooo cute inside the restaurant - for anyone who hasn't been there when you go inside the whole place looks like a home in the 50's - they have couches and tv's and older decorations. They even have "dad's bar" :goodvibes with a mirrored back and old vinyl chairs - it's really fun in there! Our server was "Uncle Tommy" and he made us set the table and yelled at us for having our elbows on the table. :rotfl: I ordered Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens with a chocolate shake and DH ordered a chicken caesar salad with a strawberry shake. The food was pretty good - but the atmosphere was definately what made this restaurant... I think the cutest part was when they brought the dessert menu (which we were way too stuffed to have) it was a view finder  - it was so fun and it was a really fun touch. As we were leaving "Uncle Tommy" yelled "Hey you kids! NO TOWER FOR AN HOUR!! and be home before the street lights come on!!!" :lmao:

After lunch we were soooo exhausted that we just left and went back to our room. I usually never can sleep in the afternoon, but we both slept from 2 until about 5!! :rotfl:

We woke up from our beauty sleep and got ready to go to epcot for our dinner reservation at Coral Reef. When we got to Epcot - we went to see Finding Nemo and we just walked around Future World. We were still feeling kinda drained so we just sat next to the fountains in front of Imagination! and watched some families playing in the fountains - there was this cute little girl in a belle dress drenched head to toe yelling, "Look! I'm a princess!" :cutie:

We went to our reservation at Coral Reef and the food was excellent! We both started with the lobster bisque and I had the Mahi Mahi and the sorbet(yuuummmmyyy :yay: ) and DH had the Crab Legs and the chocolate cake. That was a really cool place with the aquarium and everything - the sat us right up on the glass and gave everyone a fish spotting guide :) and then after dinner we took a leisurely stroll back to our bus and went home to get ready for the AK the next day!!!
