may 12, 2012 7 Night Western on the Fantasy

When I have a cruise with several shore days, I have a system where I put each day's cash requirements in a separate envelope and label them. For example: Cozumel - $30 for taxi fare - $8 for tips, $40 for Nachi Cocom - $20 for tips. I have the EXACT change I need for each day's activities plus extra if I'm going to shop or whatever. Each morning, I just take that day's envelope out of the ship safe and I'm ready to go. No last minute hunting around for small bills.

Love this idea.....

Okay, I just got done reading the thread on the main forum board about the poop in the Mickey pool. I knew I should have NEVER read it but I did.

Now, this is only my 2nd cruise with kids (1st DCL) we did the Oasis of the Sea last March, my DS who was 2.5 was just barely potty trained so we did not let him go into any of the pools, only the splash zone they have for diapered children. While it was difficult because DD was in the big kids pool we followed the rules and would never take the chance of him having an accident.

The had workers at the pool area all the time making sure that there were no little kids (diapered) in the pools. I hope that is the case on DCL.

My kids love to swim and we do swim in friends pools and the YMCA/local Unversity has classes as well. Not often but we do a few times a year. I have sworn off the CocoK Keys and water parks as I have seen way to many poops in those pools and them having to be shut down. BTW we do swim in the pools at WDW while we are on vacation.

I can't imagine telling both my kids that can't swim, but if there is a huge poop probably I am going to tell them they can't. I definately have OCD and I definately worry to much..........SO

I am putting it out there to all you parents,

Will you let your children swim in pools on our upcoming cruise?

TIA
Missy

I read that thread too, and honestly, I think it is great that DCL will shut down the pool drain, wash, etc before it re-opens. Though I think it is sad that those parents of children in diapers take them off and let them swim. I plan on letting my son swim in the pools ( but not on sea days because it is crazy). He can swim on his own and LOVES it, and we swim 2-3 times a week at area pools. With that said, if I get on board and there really is a constant problem with it, or I see lots of really little ones in the pool, we might just stick with the mickey slide, aqua lab, and aqua duck. Then swim just swim at castaway and our hotels before/after the cruise.

YES! Unequivocably, yes... without a doubt, yes... no hesitation here, yes... we also visit water parks (indoor and outdoor), touch grocery carts, play in the mud, and use the 3 second rule, even in public!

Our kids won't be with us, but on our last DCL cruise, 2 of the 5 of us were violently ill on the last day of the cruise. Let's just say GI issues and leave it at that. A whole bunch of other pax were, too. The only thing our two kids did that the other three of us didn't was....you guessed it.....spend the afternoon swimming in the pool. Yuck. I can assure you those two will never get in another pool on a DCL ship, with or without my permission.

Hey, boys and girls......I GOT MY CRUISE DOCS IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!!

Definitely! DS loves to swim, this is our 3rd Disney Cruise in the last 12 months and honestly we only saw the pool close once. We did see a few small kids in diapers but the cast members told the parents they can't be in the pool.... :thumbsup2

I don't know about sail-away day, either, but it was just a suggestion. The problem with trying to plan these things is that I never know what I'm going to be doing on-board. When I sail with the kids, I NEVER make it to a meet and greet. It's easier if it's just the two of us.

This is a great idea! I will definitely be doing this! Did you figure out how much you will need already for all the port days? Or are you still researching taxi costs etc etc?

Thanks for all the feedback, it's nice to hear opinions for other parents. My DH is super bad when it comes to germs (sort of like the guy from Bedtime stories) I, am not to that extreme....and I know it is not good for my kids and try VERY hard to be more relaxed.

Regarding the GI issues. I have to tell you, my children's pedetrician recommended a probiotic at her yearly visit in September. I have been given it to both my kids all winter. knock on wood, and I am not going to say it BUT we have had only 1 viral cold that last about 2 day in my older DD, DS I had 1 day cold. I gets notes home weekly about kids with strep and/or stomach bug.

It may be all in my head but I think it is working wonderfully for us. I have now been taken it as well.

Okay, so my thought was wow when we cruise this would be perfect to use max dose on(I usually only give kids 1 gummy a day vs 2-3 that you can give). SO I talk to pedtrician and pharmicist and said that is a great idea to try and prevent (noro) while on cruise.

Just thought I would share, we are defiantley going to all me using the probiotic this trip, can't hurt!

Those are exact amounts for Cozumel, since I've been to Nachi before and know how much the cab fare is. I'm going with Moby Dick tours in Grand Cayman and they're at the port. They'll either bring us back to the port and drop us off or drop us at 7 Mile if we wish. The cab fare from 7 Mile back to port is $5 so I'll take a few bucks extra in case we choose to do that. In Costa Maya we're doing a DCL excursion and I'm assuming it'll be hard to get a taxi on Castaway. ;)

I tend to over-plan a bit so I don't have to deal with it or think about it once I'm on the cruise.

I got my cruise docs today!!! It feels so close now :) We should be getting some Fantasy reports this weekend as well! :cool1:

Yeah, :cool1:

I had to call DCL today and they told me mine where in the mail on 4/2 to hopefully today or tomorrow.

I have been reading Deb's report on allears and it's great can't wait to read more......

Me too! I am really looking forward to all the trip reports we will be getting soon.

I am so ready for May 12th to be here. Today we were at the mall and they have a little wishing fountain. My son had two pennies...he wished for more money and to see Mickey ;)

Does anyone have any idea when we will know what movies are playing onboard?? I'm guessing in a few weeks, but I am getting excited! I want to know!

Hey everyone
Just checking in after a few days working away and it looks like there has been lots of activity here :)
The most exciting thing about getting home was that our cruise docs have arrived!!!
DH had saved them for me to open as he knew I would be excited
I think I have read them 10 times already :)
Great to see a meet location has been decided, we will certainly try our best to come along
I really have to get moving on my FE gifts now so it's great to have a final list to work with
Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

This thread gives out a phone number we can call two weeks before our cruise and it will give us the info. Someone called for the April 7 Fantasy cruise and got this list:

Toy Story 3
Tangled
African Cats
Pirates
Cars 2
The Help
Real Steel
Muppets
War Horse
John Carter

"Pirates" isn't very specific but maybe it's all four!!!
