Good evening everyone.

I have been away from the boards for the past two days. My family (Mom, Dad, 2 sisters and 1 niece) were here visiting from Portland, Oregon, over the weekend. We all had a great time!! We took them to see Allison's play, watch the boys play flag football and to JC's baseball game. Us girls (my 2 sisters and my mom) went shopping on Sunday and I found a nice dress and shoes for semi-formal night. Now, I am busy trying to get all house work done, that I let slide while everyone was here.

I have soooooo... many pages to get caught up on....I better get started! It might take me all night.

passport update!!!

well, three of us have passports! fed ex just delivered them for me and the 2 kids....my husband's passport says it still in processing but he has been so grumpy lately i think i will leave it there and take my chances that he won't be able to go!!!!

Elizabeth, I am glad some of you will be joining us on the cruise.

Sorry to hear about your bunny. Our bunny passed away while we were on our last cruise. Now we have three dogs and I don't know what I would do if something happened to them. Pixie dust to all of your family...

My boss is not always the brightest crayon in the box. Since today started my single digit dance, I was walking around flashing 9 fingers at everyone. He went, what is in 9 days? I go on vacation! "Oh that, he says. Well we can still get you on your cell phone and you are taking your laptop with you right?" I told him sure, I will have my cell, but it won't work. He asked why not? Told him the cell sites in the middle of the Atlantic were a little spotty, oh and not taking the laptop either, cause I'm on vacation. And my cell phone won't work in Spain either. He got this deer in the headlights look and said 'but what if its an emergency and we need to reach you??!?!?!!?!?' Told him I would give him my TA/Friends email and phone number and he could run it through her. Which means he will have to convince her it is that important. Oh, and did I mention that she used to work for the same company until last summer, and is intimately aware of their idea of an 'emergency'???? He really thought I would be on call during my cruise..yep that's me, sitting in my cabin waiting for the phone to ring...yep... Besides, what kind of answers would he be getting after a couple of Drinks of the Day?

Hadley, I'm so sorry about the loss of the bunny. I lost my dog 7 years ago and I still have dreams with her in them.

Thanks to all who are encouraging me to wear shorts. I guess I'll go ahead and pack them. I just might wear them. I did sign up for parasailing on Castaway Cay, so I guess I'll have to at least wear them that morning.

Stephanie - yes you can bring alcohol on the ship. It is supposed to be in your carry on though. They handle the checked bags pretty rougly - tossing them into large bins on top of other luggage, which they then load onto the ship.

Brooklyn - yes you can - just don't be overly obvious about it. I suggest you carry what ever you decide to bring on since the porters treat luggage worse than the airlines do.

I sent you an email with that list, I am sorry it took me so long - I have been doing back to back shifts with the new job.

Curt and I used to work for the same company as each other and when we were on our way to China, they purchased a satellite phone because the director was afraid they would need to contact us. We offered to leave the phone numbers of the hotels we would be at, but no.... they were afraid they would have to contact us in the middle of the night and would get a hotel clerk that didn't speak English. They of course never needed to contact us. This is the same company that recently laid both of us off.

All consumables are supposed to be factory-sealed.

Howeve, I'm willing to help people get their home-made cookies on board. No guarantees that I won't have to bribe DCL folk or eat the evidence.

Susie--Wear your shorts. Life is too short to worry about what every one else thinks. Besides, you already know about 20% of the passengers and WE won't think anything other than it is shorts weather.

Cindy--Nice to have you back. How did Ali's play go?

Stephanie--Technically in their literature DCL prohibits bringing your own bevergages onboard. Now you have been forewarned in the event that they suddenly start enforcing this. To the best of my knowledge they have NEVER enforced this. We always bring a bottle of rum and some other mixer in our carry on. It is right there very visible to security and we have even joked about it with the security people. We don't hide it and it has always gone right on through. And LOTS of people bring their own.

Cayla--watch out that you don't bring any sand grains home in your pockets fm Castaway Cay. It sounds like your luggage is so close on weight that could put you over the edge How will you get your castaway club gift and other freebies home?

I am sure I am forgetting some things. But, I have a girl scout meeting to run, so this will have to be all for now.

Hadley - Sorry about your bunny. I know when a child loses a pet how tough it can be. Last year my GS lost both his dogs in a 3 week period. They have 2new dogs but he still ask when the others are coming back.

We always carry on a few bottles and then my dh always buys a few bottles of Virgin Vodka when he flies Virgin. It's 100% proof, but the best part is it comes in plastic bottles!! We put it in one of those neoprene bottle holders in our checked luggage. Works like a charm.

My local news just ran a story about luggage that weighs itself in LB and KG from Beverly Hills.

Does anyone know where the closest WalMart/Target is to the Hyatt at teh Orlando airport. We fly in at 6:50pm on the 11th. I want to rent a car for the night and buy things that i do not think I can fit in my luggage, LIKE 80 DIAPERS! My DH thinks everything will fit This is coming from a Marine who has spent 29 months in Iraq. He can live off of anything, me on the other hand I am more of the and so are our girls.

I found a rental with tax for $26 for the night. My DH concearn is that we get in late that we have to get the girls settled, get them dinner and then find a way to get to a store to buy the stuff.

Then I brought up the whole alcohol thing. I said there is no way that we can bring it from CA. We would have to buy it in FL. He is now considering the idea. My husband is the most easy going guy out there but I do want to get all of the facts first. Ido not want to plan on renting a car and not packing things if we will not make it in time for the stores to even be open.

Is anyone doing this in Barcelona. I thought that my girls would just LOVE it. It does not seem available to book anymore. That does not surprise me though with booking this cruise so late. I was just wondering if there is a chance to still book this when we get on board???

We also bring a couple of bottles with us, try and get plastic bottles, double wrap in plastic and T-shirts, pack in hard sided. Has not been a problem. We also pack the stuff for our cruise drink, we mix crystal lite , I think these names are correct, Sunrise orange and orange strawberry banana, add a dash of pina colada, virgin for Lynn and a dash of rum for me. We mix it in a collapsible canteen, keep in beverage cooler.

Is anyone parking there car at LAX long term? Did you find any good rates? Are you pre-paying?

We are trying to figure out if we drive ourselves and find parking or somehow find transporation from where we live???

Brooklyn, most Walmarts are 24/7, try their web site and use the airport or orlando zip code to find the closest, wally world.

We also hit the one in Kissimmee for those things we don't want to pack on the plane. Sams Club in Kissimmee is reported to have a liquor section. Will stock up there when we get Wine and Cheese part supplies.
