Ok, I think I may be missing something. After I get to Florida, I was planning on picking up a bottle of wine or a small champagne for myself and martinelli's for the kids. In CA I can get pretty much anything from a grocery store, but in WA you have to go to a state run liquor store. Is Florida like CA or WA? :confused3

While I was typing I thought of one more option. When the kids were little and we had early morning flights, we would go into LAX the night before and stay at the Marriott Renaissance the night before. AAA has a "park, sleep & Fly" package with about 10 days of free parking at the hotel.

That's a very good idea! We've done that too.

Ken (Kpros) knows where the Walmart is. However, it might take you awhile to get back to the Hyatt. But, he does know all the back streets of Orlando really well.........................

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey, just wait a minute. You were driving that night, I was just a passenger. So you are the one that "knows" all the back streets of Orlando. :lmao:

There is a Winn-Dixie and a Publix market on the way to the port. They are just like stores in California - food and booze.

Sorry to keep posting. Everytime I hit "submit" I think of something new!

Is anyone parking there car at LAX long term? Did you find any good rates? Are you pre-paying?

We are trying to figure out if we drive ourselves and find parking or somehow find transporation from where we live???

We have used lot C in the past. It's about the least expensive. But this time we are using a shuttle both ways - it's about the same cost as leaving the car in the LAX lot for 26 days.

I am actually fighting an ear infection, too....last week when I got sick I had a NASTY ear infection in my right ear (literally.....like it was really painful so I went to my doctor and when the P.A. looked in my left ear, she said..."looks ok" and when she looked in my right ear she reflexively said "OUCH! EW!" and stepped back, "Yeah I can see how that would hurt!!" :rotfl2: ) Anyhow I've been on antibiotics now for 9 days....my prescription runs out tomorrow but my ear still doesn't feel 100%....it's less painful but still feels "full" kind of like it won't pop or something....I am thinking of going back tothe doctor later today or tomorrow just to have them look because I don't want to stop the meds tmw and then over the weekend while I"m in WDW have the infection flare back up and become painful again!!

:tigger:
Erik

Erik - please be careful when you fly - check with the MD to see if you should take a decongestant or something. I have had ear problems for years and find flying very painful, doing so with an infection you might be in for some real pain or could cause troubles.

Ken- which shuttle do you use? We have just booked a long weekend at Disneyland Grand Califorian and don't want a rental car...any suggestions? We will be flying into Long Beach (I love Jet Blue!)

Thanks...

Padalyn-I just noticed your planned trips-we'll be at the BC with you in October.

I think there was a "navigator" telling me where to go. That's the excuse.

We are using Roadrunner Shuttle. They were recommended by a friend that uses them a lot. I'm sure that Supershuttle would also work that area. But I don't really have any experience with either company.

Is anyone doing this in Barcelona. I thought that my girls would just LOVE it. It does not seem available to book anymore. That does not surprise me though with booking this cruise so late. I was just wondering if there is a chance to still book this when we get on board???

I contacted the museum, they don;t do bookings for a group unless it is about 15, but if we can get a big enough group together then we could have the kids go through it. Form what I understand it is pretty fun for the kids.

erik, Friend of mine flew with an ear infection to florida and during the landing the fluid actually ruptured his ear drum. So I would get this looked at before you leave just to be on the safe side that it is indeed ok. Hate to have you with ear problems.

Hadley, sorry to hear about the bunny.

Well this week and next week are turing out to be totally insane. We have something that we need to do almost every single night!! And none of them have anything to do with the trip. I will be so glad when the 11th gets here. By then if we haven't done it , packed it or bought it it will be too late and we can do without.

Cheers!!

Pat

Class is going well and there is a guy from Barcelona in the class, he warns of pick pockets, will pick his brain for other scoop.

Yes! ::yes::

How about our price of gas, Scott? $3.40

I just paid $3.35 yesterday. Ugh!

Go to the doctor again. It's likely he/she will give you more pills, just in case. Whenever the kids might have something before we travel, our doc always gives me a perscription (which I fill) to have with us is case it's needed. :thumbsup2

WA is such a pain! We will be flying with a case and a half of wine. We just box it up the way Southwest tells us to and we've been fine. Thought about buying it on line and then shipping to FL rather than home, but we can't ship to FL from where ever it is DH buys from.

We might be interested int he museum; I'll ask DH when he calls again. I think that's a great motto!:yay:

Still not passport for DD.:sad2: Talk with senator's people. Mildly helpful. We'll see.

Erik--get to the doctor BEFORE you run out of antibiotics. Somethimes if it is close but not quite gone they can extend what you are on and that is enough. If you have a day or two with no antibiotics, the infection can start getting worse again and will now be resistent to the original med and then you'll need longer and stronger meds (and will still be on them on your trip). My niece had had far too much experience in this area.

Erik again--the demonstartion sounds like a great experience. Lucky kids to have you to "advise" them.

Bunny update: So after the initial shock wore off some, it hit me that poor Willy (Rio's bunny) must be utterly terrfified. We belive the bunnies have spent their entire lives together (we got very little info. from the previous owners and don't even know how old they are--I suspect they are really getting up there in bunny terms). We had origianlly wanted to make them into indoor rabbits, but Hook was always very nervous in the house and never could adjust (though he enjoyed going for hops on a leash in the yard). Willy, on the other hand, always seemed to like the house, and always likes to come stand at the front of the hutch and let you pet him when you go out for a visit. So, we went to Petsmart today (tried locally first but hte ydid not have any cages the proper size) and got a new indoor cage, all Willy's favourite treats, etc. Marika really focsued in on taking care of Willy and I think it is good for her too. Willy is definitly hopping around and looking much more alert now than he was this morning in the outdoor hutch. Okay, I pormise no more bunny talk beofre the cruise (funny I am usually promising people no more crusie talk;) )

Cayla--I like the carry-on in the checked bag strategy.

Passports--Pixie dust for all of you still wating on one or more. I don't know how you can stand it. I think I would pitch a tent at the senator's office!

We are doing a one way rental car for part of our airport travel arrangements also. We have the odd situation of flying OUT of Manchester, NH but INTO Boston. The car will be left in Manchester (Dave's work has a plant on airport property so close you can walk to the terminal where we can park for free:cool1: One of the best perks of the job).

funny I did the same thing! let's get a group together!!!!!! they told me kids under 7 were free.

I've been thinking again and have some questions for those who have travel with DCL resently.

Are the facial tissues still horrible?

And, drat, I can't think of the other question I had. I'd better go throw the extension cord in the "to be packed" pile before I forget.

I am a mother who knows way too much about ear infections! My two daughters have the worst ears and sinus.

I am actually taking the three of us to ENT this afternoon. Maddy (my DD1) tonsils are sooooo big right now I am worried they are goingto want to take them out before the trip. She is also going to need one of her tubs replaced. Brooklyn (DD5) has had three surgery's including a very extensive sinus surgery last year.

I got a tube placed in my left ear (yes a mom with tubes in her ears :rotfl: ) I am going to ask him to place a tube in my right ear today. It makes such a difference flying!

My DD1 had blocked tubes (that we did not know about) on our flight to WDW in Feb. Well she screamed the whole time on take off and landing. it was horrible. Then by the time we got to the hotel her her ear drums ruptured. It was terrible. She flet much better after they "popped" The flights home were much better. Hence why we are all going to the dc today to make sure tubes are clear and not blocked!!!

You def do not want to fly with sinus or ear pressure. It is terrible.

I remembered! I didn't even make it upstairs to put the extension cords in the pile.

Do they have clocks in the room? It's been 6 years since our last cruise with Disney and they didn't have them then.

Thanks!

Lori
