There was a whole line of DISr's holding onto the banner on the banister. Same thing when it was on the outside. That was a bit more of a challenge. Not sure how long they held it on the outside because we were very late in leaving port.

Deb

We held it out until we passed the restaurant where all the Dis'ers were out on deck eating.

Then we put it out right before our final locks so it was out at the admin building leaving the Panama Canal and then when the Shutters photographers were on the small boat taking pictures of the ship and us on the AFT balcony with our sign, we took pictures of them and exchanged photos! It was fun.

Disney said we couldn't "attach" anything, so we just hung it over the side and had people hold since they were standing there anyway.

All I remember, is that is was a VERY long time, and the wind was blowing! We held it inside for the deck party, and outside as we were leaving port. But what a FUN way it was to start off our repro cruise! :goodvibes

YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

Whew. Since finding this thread a week ago, I decided to start from PAGE ONE to catch up. :surfweb:
I'm only on page 31 so far, but loving reading the posts. Robert suggested I catch up from where I joined (page 164) just in case there was any new info and we missed out on anything. So just posting here to let folks know I am loving reading the thread and everyone's posts, and once I'm all caught up to all 173 pages (which will probably be the end of March at this point) I'll have more to add. There's LOTS of things I wanted to reply to already, but I figured responding to a YEAR OLD post wouldn't really get much fanfare so oh well. :rotfl2:
Look forward to meeting everyone on board. You all seem like such a FUN group of people!! C & R

Hi All....I am currently doing the Ship of Thieves West Bend repo cruise next year and since my existing cruise to Alaska has been canceld, my best friend and I are looking at doing this one instead. We are in California and are looking at booking everything (airfare, transportation, and hotel the night before) through Disney. Is anyone else here doing that? Anyone have any idea of the hotel they will put us in? Anyone else doing Disney for their airfare. And yes we are booking dirt cheap in a cat 12 and will see what happens.

Laura

Don't know about your airfare, but there are several of us also doing this cruise as well as the WbPC cruise. Be sure to see if there are any perks with this cruise at this time. I know that at one time they were offering free tipping and onboard credit, so that can cut down on the price. Hope you decide to join us!

Hi Laura,

We booked everything through Disney (already had a cruise, transferred the reservation with onboard discount and credit), we're doing the transatlantic and 1st Med and didn't want to deal with hassles of split dates and one-way fares, including flying in the day before.

The airfare through Disney doesn't seem too bad considering it's essentially 2 one way trips (Boston-Orlando & Barcelona-Boston) with transfers.

The info that Disney's given us says we'll be staying at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport the night before.

I would definetly see what perks Disney will give you for booking.

I will be honest, we are really surprised at how inexpensive it it turning out to be with everything. Even with excursions and tips factored in we are really surprised, and I mean in a good way. We figured we would do everything through disney, including air and insurance so that if something goes all to heck, we are just dealing with DCL, and not DCL and an outside insurance company, etc...Not to mention that the limits of my spanish involve asking for the bathroom, tappas and water!!! :lmao:

Oh and we will know for sure by COB tomorrow, so we can become 'official'!!!

Laura

OMG We will get the premEAR of POC At Worlds End the night before we disembark!!!! Holy monkeys that is reason enough to go on this cruise!!!

Do let us know what happens! This is going to be such a fabulous cruise!

Btw, purchased our t shirts (thanks, Ken!) from Cafepress last night and got the DCL cruise DVD today! I don't know why or how we didn't have this, likely be past DVDs/tapes were not so great. But we popped it in right after dinner and wow, what fun!

Another day closer!

Why does it seem like time has slowed down..........

Hi all. Had an interesting week here. I was asked to fill in as a director for a sketch comedy at a Microsoft conference. Hadn't done something like that in years, but an old friend called and I got to go to the Hotel Del Coronado. Kathy, I'm in love with your new home area and want to go there myself now! Of course, now I'm busy getting caught up on the real job.

Scoobypop, do send us responses for year old posts. You may have some insight on something we've forgotten about.

How about using blue painter's tape to hold the banner this time? We carry it with us and use it to post up all our schedules in our room. For those who don't know... it will not ruin any paint on the walls or rails.

Laura, where are you in SoCal? We did all our bookings separately. They wanted $1072 pp for our air. We booked at about $750 pp with an extra trip to Paris for three days and a trip to WDW for 4 days. I didn't like that DCL wasn't going to tell us our itinerary until the last minute. We're also on the
B2B and the PC 2008.

Precruise get together at DL: tentative date Thursday 4/12/08 meet at Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria in Downtown Disney. Time to be determined. If you can make it PM me. If you have an idea for an alternative date PM me. Thought we could have some lunch or dinner that day and visit with each other outside the virtual world. The reason we choose a Thursday is because Kathy's family (Littleowensmommy) will be in town that week.

And the news of the day... An announcement of two new ships is forthcoming.

http://today.reuters.com/news/artic..._RTRIDST_0_DISNEY-CRUISE.XML&rpc=66&type=qcna

LOS ANGELES, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co.(DIS.N: Quote, Profile , Research) said on Thursday it would double the size of its cruise business by adding two ships.

The company has been considering expanding its cruise unit, reflecting the entertainment conglomerate's attempt to broaden its theme parks-based hospitality business.

Disney said it had signed a letter of intent with Germany's Meyer Werft shipyard for two 122,000-ton ships, which will be two decks taller than the existing 83,000-ton ships.

Financial terms were not released.

Two new ships - better than one. One will probably stay on the west coast, but where do you think the other will go? Any idea when they will be finished?

mom_rules - yes time is creeping by. At least I will be in Puerta Vallarta in two weeks for a week, so that will get my mind off the cruise for awhile. And the weather will be warmer!!
