If a kid is sick, then they make up the tests. But make up tests are given in one big lump - two straight days of nonstop testing vs. a few tests every day for two weeks. It is really hard on the kids to stay focused for that long. DD11's test scores this year determine her honors placement for middle school next year too. Don't know how DD12's middle school testing works (haven't done that one yet!) I do know missing two weeks of school would be tough even for my straight A kid. DD12 insisted on going to school one day last month with 102 fever "because they told us we can't miss school no matter what!" :confused3 . And then everyone wonders why we end up with a school full of sick kids ...

So much for that idea - BUMMER :sad2:

"Also in Cadiz they have changed all excursions to 8 years and above. I sure hope this is a mistake!" Once again, I would have never noticed this had I not had you guys! Another bummer and a weird one at that. :sad2: :sad2:

I just got off the phone and it is 8 and over in most of the Cadiz excursions and we have none to the Royal Andalusian School. I guess we will be out on our own in Cadiz.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and the best the season can bring.:santa:

Happy Holidays everyone!

Don't forget to join the cruise list. I'm making name tags and custom lanyards for everyone on the list.

Hey everyone!

Gosh...for the past 2 days disboards was down for renovation for us...was it for all of you, too? I felt so lost without my daily check-in!!! :rotfl:

I know the deal is wonderful and I'm so glad that some of you are going to be able to take advantage of it....and even more impressed by how people are willing to help each other out ("littleowensmommy" did approach Jason and I but we're late dining so we weren't going to be able to make it work:confused: )...but despite all that, I have to tell you that I've never been so relieved not to be a family bigger than me and Jason! LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl2: It sounds like a lot of work and I get stressed out trying just to pick a good rental car! :) :teeth: Although I will confess that I love the title "children shuffle" coined in another post....I think we should specifically request that the "children shuffle" be one of the line dances we all do on the pool deck at the cruise kickoff party with Capt. Mickey!! hehehe (and oh, yes....you will indeed see me (and Jason if I can force him out there) doing any and every dance they do at that party AND at the Pirate Party...so even if I can't take anyone's kids on my reservation I'll definitely take some for spin on the dance floor! hehehehe:cool1:

Alright....we're still trying to decide and finalize our excursions and such. We, too, were wondering if they'll announce pirate nights (although our travel agent said if she had to guess she'd predict that the pirate night might be very early in the cruise...maybe even the second night after we've been to Castaway Cay because DCL might want us to have the Pirates of the CAribbean party while we're actually still IN the Caribbean....so that makes sense to me!).

I hope all have great holidays!!

Hi All, Happy Holidays.

I haven't put my deposit down yet - so I hope that you don't mind me asking you a question. I have been reading up on the Eastern Repo and would really like to join all of you with my DS7, DD5, DDalmost 3.

For those of you with kids in school - any suggestions for being able to take the kids out of school for 2 weeks. DS is in 1st grade. I am not concerned about what he will miss b/c I can work with him but I am concerned that the school will have a problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Up til the time our daughter Jamie was in 7th grade, we took her out of school all the time. The last big cruise she did was two weeks on Royal Caribbean in May, 2003 through the Panama Canal (Had we known, we would have waited for Disney's in 2005!) (But Robert and I did Disney's without her). What we did, is we always just talked to her teacher prior to going and made something "educational" out of it. She did a presentation to her class after the PC cruise. Your children are so young, I am sure the teacher won't mind at all. Just explain prior to and ask what kind of assignment they could do that they could bring back to class.

The great thing is there will be kids on the cruise, but not millions, so it's a great time for your kids to get even more time with Disney Characters each day.

Hope you can swing it!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I was a good kid this year and got a 7 night cruise on the Disney Magic for Thanksgiving week 2007! (Actually, it's the only time I can get our teenage daughter away from high school, without missing school now.)

Not as easy as it was when she was young!

Have a great holiday everyone!

Hey....welcome to the cruise (a little prematurely...but what the heck!)

I, admittedly, don't have any kids...but I do work with small kids as a gymnastics coach and I have to tell you that most my students' parents don't usually seem to think that much of taking their families on trips away from school even if it involves missing school...so I'm certain that many or most schools must have a way to accomodate families that want to travel together.

Good luck!!

Well my DD and family have left so I can relax for a few minutes. I hope everyone had a good Christmas holiday as we all did. Tomorrow I will start taking down decorations. I would like to have them down and have some time for shopping before we leave next Sunday for the bowl game. The kids are out of school until the 10th so the malls will be crowded. I called DCL and was told that they had changed one of the Andalusian tours in Cadiz to our date but when I look it up it still says for westbound only. The CM said that my computer is not picking up the recent tours they have added, so when everything slows down would someone be kind enough to check and let me know if they can find it? Thanks.

I spent all day printing out the tours and excursions for Jason and I to read through and make final picks....and I, too, did not see an Andalusian tour for our trip....there are two listed on teh site (one with a show and one with training) and both are clearly marked as being available only during the WESTbound cruise.

:tigger:

DCL told me that May 22 eastbound would have the one with the show. That's the one that we are going to do if it really exsists. Thanks for checking for me.

Hi Guys, had a great Christmas. Up early to get to Walmart at 0600 for lights for the new place. Watch out Jennings Osbourn…….

Kinda off from work this weeks as it is a use the time or loose it. Will go in for a little bit, but plan on spending time getting the house together a little bit more.

Just a little more than 30 days till we leave for DLP and Tanzania. Lot to do to get that together.

HAPPY BOXING DAY!

:santa: Hope everyone had a WONDERful and MAGICal Christmas. :santa:

Who all watched the Disney Christmas Day Parade?
Who was hoping for a chance to stay in the Castle Suite?

Hey Scott, saw the Bozo, Ray and Garfield special again. "Forever Young right?

Everyone have a great week. Just 3 days long for me.

(Woo Hoo, I made page 100 :cool1: )
