But we are seriously considering booking this cruise while on our 11 day southern caribean in september. I priced it on dcl website and it says approx $4600 for s inside room. I then added airfare and it says $6500. Forgive my ignorance as I have never flown overseas but could this be right? I expected much more than that. Has anyone else (or IS anyone else) booking airfare through dcl? I am a little nervous about this one but really want to go. Did anyone else book this while onboard and did you get a discount and stateroom credit? Also can we get 2 stateroom credits if we book 2 cruises? We need to book for Sept 07 as well as this one. Sorry for bombarding you with all these ???'s I just need some details and I figured you guys were probley more informed than me. :listen:

My TA says the airfares are not out for June 07 yet - I have been checking on Orbitz and they seem to have the best airfare - but from Barcelona to JFK is about 700. Since I am not flying over I am trying for a one way fare. The round trip is usually cheaper (amazing isn't it?)

I just booked my nights before the trans-Atlantic!!! HOORAY!!! Just get the airfare thing settled and I am good to go!

We have decided to stay in Barcelona instead of going up to Paris - the city is supposed to be amazing and I hear there is SO much to see that one needs a few days. So we are going to Paris another time...

We will stay in Barcelona as well. Then we will fly to Germany and do an overnight - leave the next day - our airfare comes up way cheaper if we spend the night and fly out of Germany to Canada.

PIT(PrettyInTINK) I have never done air throught DCL or DVC, I think I can do better $$$ wise on my own. But it is smart to check out what they can offer.

By then we will be flying out of Denver, so will do a DEN-MCO RT and the a BCN to MCO back, will see if RT is better $$$ wise, I bet it will be. Maybe see what we can do with a DEN- MCO then a BCN-DEN??? could be interesting. Lynn hates it when I books flights and say it will be interesting. LOL

Thanks all for response! Dh is calling DCL this AM. We would be flying out of Atlanta most likely. We could fly out of Birmingham but with ALWAYS having to change flights in ATL when you do that anyway and since we are not far from atl we might as well drive there. Scott H I must be following you around on cruises or something....

Finally I am being stalked, LOL, actually it is kinda a DIS thing, you will find you tend to see the same great folks again.

I think we have decided to do LAX-MCO R/t then BCN - MCO book rt, but only fly one way. But we haven't ruled out Paris just yet. We'll do our own booking too. Scott, my DH always cringes when I say, it will be interesting and we'll learn! But he always goes with it.

Lurker of several months, DVC member since 1992, and eastbound trans-Atlantic cruise reservation on April 4th, but first time poster....so forgive me if this has already been discussed or debunked.

I heard that Pirates 3 was planned for release on Memorial Day weekend of 2007. That means it would be during the trans-Atlantic cruise. I'm hoping we would get a HUGE party and maybe even some guest speakers. What do you think?

If we are able to swing this trip in the fall that we're trying to get to the World then we'll be staying at the Grand Floridian for a few days but Jason will have to be in a conference during the day all day Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that I"ll be pretty much left to my own devices as well. I've never done the parks before all alone but I"m kinda looking forward to it. Jason is not as interested as me in all the little shops so I'll go do lots of shopping and I'm actually thinking of spending lots of time during the day at Blizzard Beach and Tyhpoon lagoon where I can just swim and sunbathe and ride waterslides alone and have fun by myself without feeling odd.....plus I almost never just hang out at a resort and play in the pool or anything....so I'm probably gonna do that and take advantage of my DVC pool hopping privileges to swim in the pools at all the resorts! (Plus I think by now we all know that I could spend all day at Animal Kingdom just riding the Safari endlessly over and over and over again LOL)

We're going to see Pirates 2 tonight I think pirate: ....I didn't even know there WAS a pirates 3 in the works....but if it is scheduled for release then, then I can totally see Disney doing something fantastic...maybe even a sneak peek preview screening on board! I'd be giddy over somethign liek that!! :)

AAAARGH Matey!

Thanks for all the great answers Padalyn. I'm going to forward your answers to my dad and light a fire under him to go do it.

I heard two different dates for Pirates 3 next year - one is the same week as this year (first week of July 07) and the other was the Wednesday before Memorial day, which means we would get the premiere on the boat. It would be very, very fun if that is what happens.

We're going to the drive in Sunday night to see it. I hear it is very fun.

I forgot to mention that we booked on last year's cruise to get the 10% discount plus onboard credit. We booked for 12/2/06 with the intention of the May special cruise opening up. They moved our date and applied the discount to 11 night cruise since it was more expensive than the transatlantic cruise. Then we used our DVC points for the transatlantic. Danielle may be your onboard DCL booking agent and she usually knows everything.

I had not heard about that release.... hmmmmm I know that they were filming it right after they did Dead Man's Chest. We were lucky on the May Repo cruise last year to have a preview. It was awesome!

Well we're back from Pirates pirate: !!

We ended up going to a later show than we planned because when we got there the show we wanted was already sold out.....an hour before showtime!! Boy some pretty crazy characters there, too......I felt like I was back on DCL on pirate night because there were a LOT of people wearing pirate garb to the film.....it was actually kinda eerie. I mean I knew the first movie was fun....but I had no idea it had such a Star Wars or Lord of the Rings kind of following (those are really two of the only other movies I've gone to where the audience decides to turn it into a costumed event! :rotfl2: )

Anyhow....the movie is pretty good.....and, of course, now we gotta see #3....hopefully seeing it on the cruise will make that all the more fun! (although, while aboard a big boat in the middle of the ocean I could possibly do without the films where giant monsters eat your boat from below!! hehehe)

:tigger:

Welcome Aboard Disneylisa89. That is some interesting information, and could call for a good time on the Magic. Jump in here and join the fun in getting to know your fellow cruisers.

Ken that is interesting as well as there are several of us May 05 repo folks aboard. This should not deter others from joining in on the fun , just time to start being part of the Party....

Hope to see POC this weekend. I knew they were filming POC 3 as it was being done whilst were were on Grand Bahama this past Feb. There were extras staying at the Marina we sailed out of. Wonder if I will recognize any of them. The morning call sheets were for Oriental Pirates.

Welcome Disneylisa89 and PrettyinTink!!

PrettyinTink: we also booked two cruises while onboard and got stateroom credits and 10% discounts on both. All it takes is deposit money :rotfl2: . At the time, the 2007 dates weren't out so we booked for 2006 and moved them over when 2007 opened up.

What fun it would be to have a PremEar of POC3 on our cruise! Although, I must admit that the whole pirates/on a ship thing did cross my mind :rotfl2: .

We are also looking at airfare but hoping to use FF miles - so far nothing. At one point the agent routed us BCN to Copenhagen via Amsterdam, overnight Copenhagen then Chicago and San Diego -- uhmmm, I have a three year old with me - keep looking... Frankfurt was another possibililty, but the connections didn't work.

E: How great to watch the fireworks and not have to fight the traffic afterward! Hope it works out for the fall. I love it when I can swing a "tagalong" with DH's business trips! Just having the day to myself to hang out at the pool and read a book is awesome and then we get to have our evenings together too. With 3 kids that doesn't happen very often.

Yeah, well the best part of is that ironically I have a business trip for a national conference that attaches to the end of his trip in Hollywood, FL (between Miami & Ft. Lauderdale) :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: !!

So it's looking like we'll fly down on Thursday night the 14th of September and stay at "home" (Saratoga Springs) for Thursday, Friday, & Saturday nights and that'll just be for us...then Sunday morning move over to Grand Floridian (on his company's dime! ) and stay there until Wed. (his conference is Sunday through Wed) then hop on a flight down to Ft. Lauderdale and we'll check into my hotel....a fancy Westin hotel/resort right on the beach!! :Pinkbounc ....and stay there til Monday(all on MY agency's dime!).....and the best thing is that because both our employers were already going to be sending us in that general direction anyway....they've agreed to reimburse us for the airfare from NY to FL..so the only travel expense we have to pay out of pocket for is Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale.....$49/person.....WOO HOO!!

Now if THAT isn't some disney magic :wizard: then I don't know what is!!!

:tigger:

E: Don't ya just love it when things work out? That is definitely some good Disney Mojo!! Have a fantastic trip!

What airlines are you looking at? We have FF miles with USAIR but there doesn't appear to be any good flights between BCN and SAN. I think we're going to book Continental BCN to SAN. There's only 1 stop.

Delta has a flight BCN-ATL-SAN that would have been perfect, but BCN-ATL is being discontinued this fall. :sad2: Our FF miles are with Delta, but so far they have not opened up any FF seats yet :sad2: . the agent has been looking at partner airlines: KLA, Air France, Continental. What flight does Continental do with one stop BCN-SAN? I'm sure that wasn't offered to us. That would be way better than flying all over Europe before heading home.

I was in Coronado yesterday and thought of you. I don't make it down often enough and forget what a neat town it is. It was cool to see the Stennis, Reagan and Nimitz all in port at the same time. We are having the weirdest summer - no June Gloom, hot, and humidity +60%.
