Elderfam--
DizzneyDAnn--Marika knows basic crochet as I know the most basic of that art. She seems to prefer knitting, but I can easily have her throw both in. I know she wants to bring the "knitting mushroom" she got in her Easter basket for the plane trip home. It only lets you "knit" a chain but she is having fun with even that. I'm sure she would love a little extra coaching, and Cupcake I bet she'd like to try the European version as well. Maybe I'll even be inspired to learn (though I seem to be constantly running form place to place on the ship--relax, what's that?) THANKS ladies for covering for my lack of skills;)

Ladies Quilting circle will be on deck 9 aft while the menfolk attend a Barn Raising on Castaway Cay... My grandmother did it all. Raised in a farm community in southern Alberta, she cooked, baked, sewed, quilted, canned, preserved, pickled, candied, candle dipped and even turned the cooking grease into laundry soap.

Nice to know these arts are still being passed to the next generation...

And don't forget to bring your sourdough starter for the fresh bread...

Man, I can do all of the above...funny story for all the LDS ladies out there:

I was raised LDS, and in CA we have all these vineyards with grapes and we got permission for the wards to go and pick the grapes. So my mom brought them home and we made grape juice, gallons of it. Flash forward about 12-18 months later. We are all drinking grape juice with breakfast, but the older it gets, it isn't quite as sweet, so we keep adding more sugar so make it palatable. My grandmother (who wasn't LDS) comes over for the weekend and has a glass and wants to know why my mother is giving her grandchildren such nasty red wine with breakfast!?!?! Has she lost her mind??!?!?!? :drinking1 Oops...wine grapes, will make wine, even if you don't mean to....needless to say, all the rest of the grape juice got dumped, and she had to call the other mom's in the ward to let them know about it. Talk about mortified!!! So of course, we all still razz our mom's about sending us to school drunk!!! :rotfl:

Bummer I bet they wont let me onboard with and my tools, that would be fun. Besides the adze, froe, mall, and broad ax would just take up too much weight.

Guess there is no need to sharpen my two man buck saw then... pitty

Our modern life is just .... modern .... not necessarily better ....

There are schools that teach log cabin building, always wanted to try it but Habitat for Humanity is the closest I have come.

Elderfam - sorry to hear your news but I am sure you are meant to be on this cruise with us for a reason! Welcome back!

Quick heads up to all of our knitters out there - I know many have expressed interest in taking their needles, etc with them but be aware that with the new security procedures in place at most airports that you may not be able to take them in the aircraft cabin! Perhaps it is best to pack a spare pair in your checked luggage just in case!

Telescopes - For what it is worth I have tried to use one on the ship but it is VERY difficult to keep things in view. I will not take mine this time just a good pair of binoculars.

Greg:)

Kissimee,
cool that you did Habitat! That's on my list of things to do. Scott and I built a playhouse for our kids though. It had shingled roof and real windows, insulation and paneling! So fun!:goodvibes

I think that's why I liked Nauvoo last week. They demonstrated all those old arts, even brick making. I've always loved all the old arts, even as a kid.

Knitting
I knit continental, too, having learned in Denmark, but I bet I can help with the American way, too.

Playthings doctrinal reference,
It's found the same section of the D and C that says I can have multiple husbands.;)

 I can feel the love :grouphug: Thank you for your kind words. Your right, we really do belive that everything happens for a reason and "our" child is coming.

I have a lot of catching up to do. Our new room number is 6083. so If anyone needs a message board in that area, we will gladly offer our services.
IF I buy my husband a "grass skirt" and a One of a Kind Grass skirt frat t-shirts...when will he need to wear it? and how may guys :drinking1 (are women doing this to) ? will be showing up in them. Jeff is a good sport, but would be more comfortable with a croud!:dance3:

Sounds like an emotional roller coaster. Hope the cruise eases your mind. Have you considered calling Disney and explaining the situation? I would not be surprised if a supervisor saw the justice in upping you to your original cat if they have plenty of inventory.... It is the year of a million dreams after all .... Just a thought... Heck if I knew your names I'll even call Disney and plead your case (politely of course) ....

Hey I will take any help I can get if it may give us a room with a view!:yay:
I will try to message you, let me know if it works since I have never done this..:confused3

Grass skirts, grass skirts, one more thing to do! Am game for anything so is this on or not? Herd mentallity of the African Zebra takes over here - easier to hide if we have a larger pack. Who's in?:confused3

Too funny about the grape "juice!"

We actually grew champagne grapes in Texas in our backyard. We made jelly out of them--best grape jelly I've ever had!

Welcome ElderFam!!!

We are in unless this is a male only thing...Then DH will be in. (He does have really cute legs..:thumbsup2 )

I see I am wayyyyy behind on my door and a fish extender. Did anyone come up with a super easy pattern? :wizard: I will try my best to get one made...any photos out there of them in use and suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!;)

I keep thinking about the whole time change business as we cross the ocean. Are we going to be pretty much losing an hour every day? I think this is going to wreak havoc on our bio-clocks! I keep wondering how this is going to work out. So, if you have the main dinner seating at 5:30, the next day if the time changes it is going to feel like 4:30 and then a couple of days later...3:30 and so on. Seems like by the time we get to Spain we will be eating dinner at what feels like lunch and getting up at 2 in the morning! Do I have this all wrong? Do I even make sense...I don't think I do!

I think dinner by the end will be at breakfast/brunch time at home, depending where you live. They are ahead of us. Ought to be fun with little ones!

When we did China, the real problem we had was when we flew home. The baby decided he liked China time, adjusted well to it and did not adjust back to USA time for a whole week. I had to be up with older kids during the day and stay up with him all night, meanwhile Scott was still in Asia. I slept only a few hours the entire week. I was a mess!:scared:

It's all part of the experience! So cool!

Oh Elderfam, I'm so very sorry to hear this news. don't worry we'll take care of you. Don't be surprised how fast good news comes in waves like the ocean. Yeah Ken for saving them!

On another note... Talked to Kathy (Littleowensmommy) tonight... as most of you know they are in the final stretch of finding a new home and moving before getting on the b2b. The good news is that they are having some great luck on the house search... the bad news is that we will be cancelling our West Coast Dis Meet on Thursday, April 12th. We are all so swamped getting ready for this big trip that although we wanted to get together to meet making it happen is proving to be difficult. We'll be with you guys in spirit for the East Coast Banner making party and we'll all see each other (a lot) in 4 weeks!

That means we'd better start planning our post cruise west coast meet!

Think of it as slow-motion jet-lag.. A lot better than the fast motion kind.

Edit: I just did a back of the napkin calculation and it works out to one time zone every 1.7 days approximately. This is just a guess but they may bump the clock an hour every 2 days.

Hi everyone! I have noticed that I have become the late night poster...only time i have to come on and get all caught up...problem is, I miss most of the conversations and am always feeling behind...popcorn::

DizzneyDAnn, (We are SO going to have to have a Tokyo Disneyland chat!!!!)I was just in China in March 2006 about a year ago, and that jet lag really screwed me up. Although Europe totally killed me too, so who am I kidding? I guess I was just lucky though because I did not have to deal with our children, especially young children, since it was just DH and I. I am shuddering already at the thought of our 4 year old when we get back home. NOT looking forward to that one. At least on the cruise over, it will be very gradual. I can handle that.
