Smoking: It's not secret that I am the smoking Nazi. I make a living telling people about the dangers of smoking. I can smell smoke 5 ships across the ocean and it makes me crazy. One of the most important reason I choose Disney is the lack of smoke. I can avoid small smoking areas, but DCL doesn't tend to attract a large smoking crowd.

Or you can buy them aboard, too. On the last cruise we went on I happened to win one of the sketches that Ducky Williams drew during his lecture (of Tigger, of course) and I was able to buy a tube on the ship so I didn't ruin the sketch bringing it home. That sketch is now framed wiht a picture I took of Ducky and the raffle ticket that won me the print. It's one of my most prized possessions!

:tigger:
Erik

We won a scrooge McDuck one but didn't know that you could buy a tube so had a great deal of trouble getting it home! Definately need to remember this tip. Which shop did you get it from?

Silly us to take DCL.

That is hilarious!!!! Which river will Magic take to go south in France?

I'm doing the transatlantic but staying on the ship for the first med cruise. Is anyone doing lanyards for that cruise? Its going to be a "magical" time!

beach2go

There is an active thread for the May 26th med cruise- look for first Magical Med Cruise (M&M). Go to page 55 and place your name on the roster. Ken is doing lanyards and name tags for that cruise as well.
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Thanks Ken!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Scott--You have given me hope that I may get to see Cove yet (perhaps the smoke is mostly on the outside). I hate not having been in a perfectly accessible public part of the ship. I'll have to give it a try this time around.

We had canceled our cruise because of an upcoming adoption, but unfortunatly the adoption isnt going to happen.:sad1:
We called back today and re-booked ourselves back on this cruise. We had used our DVC points and after the penalty loss of points we didnt have enough points for the same cabin as before. We are now in a Cat 11 on deck 6. Has anyone ever heard of upgrades offered when you use DVC points?

I had been really sad that I wasnt going to meet everyone and now the cruise will be just what we need to lift our spirits.
Is it to late to get back on the roster and the lanyard list?

Welcome back!

Rockin Bar D Question--We usually end up at a family event in the evenings, but being of a certain age we did make a point of going to the 80s nights at ROckin Bar D the last two cruises. We had so much fun, and we really enjoy the little show the dancers put on. Being a bit slow, it has only recently ocurred to me that the dancers probably do similar shows for the other theme nights (I'd go just for the show). Do they do this for 70s night? How about other theme nights (I think there was a 50s, but I can't recall)? I'm trying to figure out how many nights to warn the kids we will be ditching them for:laughing:

The cruise staff has done a 60's, 70's, and 80's theme nights on oast cruises. There used to be a 50's but they kind of combined it with 60's night. We usually bring 'costumes' to wear (tie dyed shirts, disco shirt, etc) but not for these cruises, can't afford the weight or luugage space. The shows are fun. They have also do a not so newly wed show and other such things on the longer cruises and they are also fun. The cruise staff just likes to have fun! Alex

Yes - I think I remember someone saying that there will be lanyards and name badges for both the repo and the 1 med cruise. I can't remember who - lets see, I think there is something about that on page 143 of this thread and page 55 of the 1st med thread. And I'm very sure that you need to provide names and sign up on the cruise list of both cruises. :rotfl2:

Ken

There is the idea of the morning. Will do! It's official west coast meet marathon weekend. I will make sure I keep everyone in touch for this.

Welcome: beach2go. Yes, see page 143 and since you can't PM yet, post your family first names and ages (if you want) and any other info you'd like to tell us about (like where you are from). Room number.

Debbie will put you on the master list and Ken will put you on the badges list and I will put you on the B2B list. Welcome, Kelly

On another note, I got over half of our packing done late last night.

When is the marathon? We won't be running in it, but we might drive down for a meet. DH company car charges a fee each month for our use of the car, so we'll drive just about anywhere. We don't drive to Florida, though, that's just too far, but a little drive like Seattle to LA is okay. We've done it a few times. I get a lot of hand-work done that way! :)

Wow, just a "few" pages for me to catch up on since Easter! Well, the secret is out finally so me and hubby don't have to keep whispering around the house. Of course, mydd9 Sophia, says I knew we were going somewhere because of all the UPS packages coming to our house. Of course there was a little glitch in my system. I had ordered rolling duffles to use as the Easter baskets and they arrived separately, 1 day before Easter and one day after. So, of course I had to improvise and go out and buy wrapping paper and then they all got the bags on Monday. Everyones excited about another trip on "The Mickey Ship" and to see "Where daddy goes all the time for work". Is everyone doing costumes for Pirate night or not because of the luggage limits? We're still undecided on this one.

Are you allowed to play poker on the boat? I read somewhere that they didnt let you or is that only if money is changing hands?

I'm not sure either. I thought that Disney don't allow you because of gambling. I know in international water you can gamble but I thought Disney had something in place where you couldn't. Maybe it would be an idea to check with Disney.

I know we gambled with gold fish on one of the cruises we went on instead of money.

I have! If you can stay at Pop Century I think that is better. Rooms and everything equal but the Sports shares a bus with the other All Stars. The Pop has it's own bus.

i know...that is why we love the Pop! i will keep trying...we stayed there before our last cruise and loved it!!! LET ME BACK IN!!!

OK last post before "Idol" on TV.....

but I wanted to share that there was a light at the end of my horrible computer saga tunnel. (Rio will love this, Hadley) Among the things I lost in the great hard drive catastrophe was all the music in my iTunes library.....but lo and behold I emailed iTunes and they were able to, at no expense, reload to my NEW hard drive all the songs I had actually paid for through the iTunes store online....which included THE ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL SOUNDTRACK.....so a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders! hehehehe :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:tigger:
Erik

GREAT!!! when my hard drive crashed that is what i was dreading the most about redoing it....reloading all my music...then i started calling around to my MP3 manufacturer and finally got it figured out how to upload all the songs froom it back to my computer since it had all the songs i own on it (it has 30gig of space!)....it took about 10min and i was done....much faster than downloading all my cds again!!! :surfweb:

I almost forgot, I have another question. Someone asked earlier, but I don't remember seeing an answer. How much do the washers and dryers cost to opperate? I'd like to figure out how many quarters to bring if I wash every third or fourth day.

Thanks,

Lori

like another poster said count on $3 per load, $1 for washer and $2 for 2 dryer loads...you will need it! bring your own quarters because the machine is out alot and bring your own detergent because the stuff there is too expensive! watch your clothes because although they usually will not disappear i have seen other graciously take them out for you when your dryer is done the first time before you pay for the second load! :lmao: then you are stuck with lots of damp clothes!

Dining Plan--I gave only a minimal answer in my post, but as Erik now knows I am rather obsessive about finding the best way to getting the most enjoyable vacation possible for the least amount of money (one income, two kids, insatiable need to travel:rolleyes1 ). I will happily share more with anyone who wants it (or just plan your WDW dining experiences for you:rotfl: ). Hmm, maybe I can have a planning seminar right after Robert's binder presentation:rotfl2:

Elizabeth--back when APs got $49 All Star rooms, they were only available at Music and Sports so we have stayed at both many times (they are good enoug hfor us when the price is right!). All of the All Stars are very simlar in terms of size, services, etc. Sports does share busses with Music and once in a while during Spetember we have had busses stop at ALL THREE. Sports is our least favourite only because none of us care much for sports:rolleyes: so the theming doesn't really appeal to us. The only real problem we have had is that sports teams (Pop Warner Superbowl and Cheer Compitions, etc.) tend to be placed here--meaning lots of poorly supervised kids. You can call and ask if any large groups will be there when you are.

i am always looking for good deals too...that is why i could not pass it up this time.....we passed up free dining last year and i wanted to ick myself for it!!! i will keep trying every day for the pop! i hate the busses stopping at all three so i want the pop!

We had canceled our cruise because of an upcoming adoption, but unfortunatly the adoption isnt going to happen.:sad1:

Hey I will take any help I can get if it may give us a room with a view!:yay:
I will try to message you, let me know if it works since I have never done this..:confused3

Count me in to help you too! i never took you off the bracelet list so you are set! I am sorry about this roller coaster you are on and Disney should try to help you not punish you!

Just thought of this one, and I don't think anybody has posted it yet, but what is the smoking like on the ships? I have asthma and smoke will set my asthma off, cigar smoke is the worst. I need to stop into my doctor to get a refill of my inhalers but I thought I would ask.

I have just gotten use to all the restaurants and lounges here being smoke free but I thought about this last night for some reason.

Cheers!!

Pat

the smoke is not bad...all of us are very sensitive to it and we do not have much of a problem on these ships...

make sure you have all your asthma meds! we will be bringing a nebulizer with us if anyone needs to use it let me know (i charge less than the medical facilities!:lmao: )

If you go into Cove Cafe from the pool side you do not need to run the gauntlet of smoke in the smoking area just outside of it.

Unless they have finally changed it, there is also smoking on one side, the port side I think, of deck 4. (I think the line the captain used was "Port side to Puff"). We officially complain about this after each cruise because deck 4 is also the "running track" and it seems just wrong to allow smoking in an exercise area:confused3

I had not forgotten Cove Cafe, my Cove Cafe mug is already packed.

OMG! Too funny-I'd better start my training now or I'll never make it.

:flower3:    :badpc:

okay...really embarrassing thing i did this weekend....

i was checking the prices of our cruise as usual to see if the prices had dropped again...i put in all my info and they had dropped! all catergories too by about $150.00...i immediately called my TA (her office in the middle of the night) and left a long detailed message...i went back about 30min later to check the rate again for the other catergories so i could post them here and boy was i embarrassed!!!! i had clicked 2 adults but i guess it only registered 1 adult, 2 kids.....:sad2: so i had to call my TA back and explain on her machine again to NOT call DCL because I had an idiot moment! :headache:
