On the Panama canal repo cruise, we had a few cabins that were "message boards" where you could learn about room changes, activity changes etc. Would anyone like to volunteer to be a keeper of the messages? Just a few folks and try to spread them out on the ship :)

It did come in handy when we had room changes and those folks that were delivering gifts knew where people may have moved to.

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

We'll volunteer for deck 7, sent you a PM.

Bob

Bob and Lee--this is such a small world! David worked at Sonoco-Crellin. We lived in a "new" subdivision just past Meijer on the edge of town (made for quick highway access for David to get to work). Rio was one of the last babies born at St. Elizabeth's before they shut down maternity ward there. Oh and yes, CSU does have a top notch vet school (but I was an English major and David was Industrail Engineering).

Small world. Check your pm.

Rio and I have something in common. I was born there :rolleyes1 years ago.

We could be the "message: room....we know what stateroom we are going to have for sure! AND I'll have my FISH HANGER! Connie

Great!!!!

We now have a message board at Room 8558 and Room 7562! I will probably do one on 5024. We may have to wait for the GTY's to see if we can get one on a lower deck :)

Linda can you make sure this gets in the Navigator? :thumbsup2

Thanks!
Debbie

Debbie, did anyone ever come up with another source for the "fish extenders"? We don't want to take our original one and the one we had on the 11 night disappeared.

Time for bed. Gotta rest up for that daylight savings time tomorrow.:lmao:

Well the cruise must be getting closer, spending $$. :lmao: :lmao:

Just ordered a new mini camcorder for all the new ports. Now just have to find the time to learn to use it before we leave.

Bob

We live in the DFW metroplex. Marlea is originally from Virginia, and I grew up in Indiana. You can probably tell from my DIS board username that I grew up in Indiana - all you euchre players out there!
Kurt

HEY!!!    We are originallyfrom Illinois! My DH absolutely loves to play EUCHRE, nobody down here has heard of it unless they are from IL, IN, WI, or IA!

We'll bring our cards and hope for a MOON HAND! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm from Terre Haute, Indiana, I work in Indianapolis. I think I havebeen playing Euchre since elementary school. Would love to come play with the group

Wasn't there someone who said she would make Fish Extenders? I should take a look at mine to see if I could work up a new one. Connie

I was wondering what plans everyone had for the Gibraltar day....Anyone doing anything that is not a DCL excursion, but more on your own? I am getting creative, and want to know if anyone is too. LOL

Bob, The CSU Vet School is great, they gave us 4 extra years with Yuki, it is an unbelievable place. The oncology wing is top notch, and if any one has furry friend with cancer that is the place to go.

We found a single fish extender. Found it at the dollar store. This might be a good place to start looking.

Looks like we are in for a nice day weather wise here in WY.

Debbie et al, just adding Atlantic maps for the crossing. Gotta know where we are.

Hope the spring ahead is not too hard on ya all. I feel like I got an extra hour of sleep. LOL

Ok , refresh my little brain, did I mention a ½way point event or something like that????

Debbie and Lynn will keep me in line on this.

Lynn says I did and something about Burbon was involved.

Linda put it the mini Navigator and it will happen.

We are not planning to do any DCL excursions for Gibratar, I think we are going to do it on our own. Being so small and from what I have found out I think we can do it on our own without too much trouble. Cadiz is the one we are having an issue with. With a 6 year old we are not sure what we can do that will keep his interest. Thought the equestrian school but not sure now. Have to go look over them again or see if there are any other tours that we can do ourselves.

I would volunteer for the message board for the lower levels but having a guaranteed room I don't know what my cabin number is yet.

Cheers!!

Pat

Oh my....the Euchre players abound!! How fun....I haven't played Euchre seriously in YEEEEEAAARS! When I was in college I used to work every summer at an 8-week camp for kids with special challenges in Northern Michigan. (We had kids with varying degrees of mobility challenges, kids who were blind or otherwise visually impaired and kids who were Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing....I was the lead counselor for the Deaf boys group because I sign fluently). Lights out for the campers was at 9pm and the staff then had until midnight as "free time".....but the camp was VERY rurally located so there really wasn't much to do (we didn't even get TV reception up there!!!) so we used to all sit around and eat munchies and play Euchre all night every night......aaaaah...the good ole days!! :thumbsup2

OK....question...not to sound uninformed but what exactly is "GTY"?? I'm not familiar with that acronym.

:tigger:

Forgot to ask this earlier, for the parents that have young kids, 6 year old for instance, what do you do at night if you want to go out dancing or just hang with other adults for the night? Being our first cruise I am not sure, anybody have some helpful advice for me.

Cheers!!

Pat

Oh....I have another question.....did we make a final determination on who was going to make the banner for the cruise? Jason and I were shopping in WallyWorld yesterday and we did see some inexpensive fabric.....I know that seulater volunteered to do it (but she's also, if I recall, doing the navigators...so I don't want her to have to do everything) and that milestogo was willing, too.....there may have been some others in the Orlando area who had volunteered to do it, too because then nobody would have to fly with it or anything.........but if people want Jason and I to work on that we're willing but we need to get hopping on it....because for us we now have just 54 DAYS before we fly out for the beginning of our trip :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: !!!

:tigger:

Eric, "GTY" is used when you booked and were not assigned a staterrom. You are guarenteed a room in a specific catagory, at that price. Come sailing day you might get an upgrade to a better room for the price you booked. We had it once and it drove me nuts not knowing what room we had.

Would like to learn some basic signing.

We will be doing all of the ports on our own. Gibraltar should be particularly easy as it is so small. Here is what we plan to do: We will be walking. We plan on heading to the botanical gardens and cathcing the cable car up to the top of the ROCK (cost is 9 ponds and includes entrance to ape den and caves). We'll explore ST MICAHAEL"S CAVE and the APE DEN. I must also find some good British FISH N CHIPS at a local pub.

The clubs stay open quite late (I am thinking it was one in the morning). You can drop your little one off in jammies and they put them on mats in fornt of a movie around ten. Most are sound asleep by pick-up time. It is funny to be in the adult clubs and watch half the attendees rush out all out once five minutes before club closing:goodvibes

I am looking for some recommendations for books to read while on board. I like historical, historical fiction, and current events. (For example, Da Vinci Code, Freakonomics, The Overacheivers, John Stossel's book, etc...)

Has anyone read 1776?

Any suggestions???

Something interesting, but I'm not looking for War and peace. I don't want to think TOO hard:lmao:

and please, no science fiction...it makes me gag....:scared:
