May 11th 2008 ~ Any Double Dippers Out There?

So much information out there:scared: ... I downloaded the passporter after pre-ordering the new version, and have been going through the boards to learn what I can. There is just soooo much information out there. I like to relax on vacation, but hate to feel like I've missed something. Which means lots of research so we'll be informed, while still leaving some things open to whatever strikes us (other than things like Palo and the excursion that was important to us).

At first I thought the next two months would be so slow to wait for, but I'm realizing a lot of time is going to be spent getting prepared. We're also spending a few days at WDW afterwards, so there's that to think about as well.

I guess all this effort is for a good cause. :woohoo:

Hi Everyone!!!!:wave2: My name is Heather. I am a long time lucker on this thread. My DH ( Tim ) and I will also be on this sailing. We are sailing by ourselves without the kids for the first time ever! We have never been away alone ( we did not even get a honeymoon!!!! ) We are so excited to be getting a well needed alone time!!!! We will be flying into FL on Friday and staying at the Radisson at the port. We will be flying back to Maryland on Fri. the 16th. We lan to spend a little time in WDW before the cruise. We can not wait to enjoy the adult only areas of the cruise. This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise! Hopefully we will get the chance to meet a few of you on board!!!

Hello Heather!!! :wave2: You will love having an Adults Only cruise!!! :thumbsup2 DH and I did exactly that last September and had a magical time... :cloud9: :goodvibes :lovestruc

Mother's Day here in the UK today and I had a wonderful time - I was invited to lunch by my threesome at a local Greek restaurant where the champagne flowed and the food kept coming - delicious!!! Had some fab gifts too - Philosophy goodies, a DS Disney game, Rush Hour box set, Cadbury's choccies, a beeootiful bauble from NYC World of Disney store and a bottle of Chocolate Block wine DD and I loved in Jiko last October!!! Wonderful kids - I'm very blessed... :cloud9: :lovestruc :cloud9:

Here's a pic...

How amazing! Happy Mother's Day to you!! I wonder if I could manage two Mother's Day celebrations from my family if I told them about the UK Mother's Day..... We'll spend Mother's Day boarding the ship this year!! WOOHOO!!!

Welcome newbies! We're still waiting to hear about our trip specifics, although it sounds as if we will miss out on Palo. :sad1: Maybe we'll manage to get reservations on board. I've also been reading about children moving to the next age group depending on interest, ability, personality. Maybe my 2.5 year old will be able to move into the youth group instead of having to be in the nursery. He is quite verbal and used to playing with his 4.5 year old brother. Whenever we watch the DVD, he is most excited by the pictures of the children running through the tunnels, making crafts, etc. According to the experience of others, it seems the hard and fast rule about a child needing to be within a month of their birthday to move up is not such a hard and fast rule. LOL It seems to be more a matter of the child, the space available in that age group, and the youth program CMs. I'll be crossing my fingers and saying a daily prayer. LOL Of course, if we can't get him fully potty trained, it won't matter, because he'll only be allowed in the nursery anyway.

I hope to make the meeting, but am just not sure how the day will go, since we've not done a cruise before.

My DH thinks I'm nuts because I told him I was going to start 'packing' within the next week! What I plan on doing is putting all the 'little' things I think about (stuff we don't use every day like the kids water shoes, bathing suits, etc..) in a box as I think of it so it's all in one place and I'm not going crazy the day before trying to find and pack everything.
I even plan on taking a little shower mat- I remember when my DS was young and trying to give him a bath in the tub at HHI and when soaped up kids are SLIPPERY! I assume the DCL tubs will be slippery as well and we're headed to VWL after the cruise so I'm bringing a bath mat. Hell, it's flat in the suitcase and won't take up much room at all!

I think I'm becomming OBSESSED over this trip and I want it to get here already!!

It's our 2nd trip home to VWL and I love it there! Last year we did SSR and I was disappointed after having stayed at VWL (which is our home resort).

OK - dumb question - what is P&PP?? I'm afraid I'm missing something in my planning!!

VWL, SSR and AKV are our home resorts. I stayed at SSR last December with my DS and we had a great time tho' the vastness of the resort took a little getting used to - plus I wasn't mad on the transport system!!! I thought the rooms were nice tho' so I'm really looking forward to staying at VWL as I love the theming there!!! :cloud9:

No dumb questions on the DIS!!! It's Mickey's Pirate and Princess Party at MK - here's a link to more info... :goodvibes

We are also thinking about doing the p&pp on May 9th. We fly in around lunch tme that day and thought it would be great to do this special party! Maybe we will see you there!

Does anyone have a good excrusions booked? We are not going on any excursions, but have Palo brunch and dinner booked, as well as a few spa treatments. We plan on spending most of the day in Nassau on the ship!!! We are so looking forward to some kids free time. You see besides being a mother to two wonderful boys, I am also a licensed daycare provider. I watch 7 other kids for 12 hours a day. I need a vacation away from kids!!!!!!!

We're booked to do the parasailing on our first CC stop and we have a Couples Massage session booked for the Nassau day. I doubt I'll get off the ship in Nassau either. I'm looking forward to enjoying the activities onboard. I don't know what day the Wine Tasting is on but I'm definitely up for that... ;)

I'm looking forward to some time away from the dogs!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Actually, that's a bit mean - I'm looking forward to time away from one of my dogs! I have a deaf Dalmatian who's getting crankier as time goes by so she's off to kennels soon for her "vacation"... ;)

OK it's raining here in NY and I'm doing a months worth of dirty laundry and starting to feel like Pauline on EastEnders, so need to think of something fun. LOL. :laundy:

Who is getting dressed up for pirate night? We always get some themed Teeshirts to put on. Found some great one's on e-bay we just ordered. We don't do full costumes or anything, but like to get into the spirit of the evening. Also, have all my old bandannas saved from every cruise. Always have a few on. Last year I tied them to each of my belt loops. Look like I was about to do a drag version of the dance of the seven veils or something. They are my treasures from every trip so I have fun with them. So what's everyone going to have on? At least buy an eye patch. LOL. :woohoo:

Do you know leaving my dog will be the hardest part about going on this trip. My Yorkie boy Riley is a year old and the best dog I have ever had. We had a Yorkie boy who died at 7 months last year while having a test done. It was so painful for us to get over. We did not want to leave our new pup last May, so we rented a house instead of staying at a WDW resort last year. First time ever for that, but it was great fun. Only 20 min down the road and had a private pool, etc. Poor Riley ( 5 months then ) never saw a pool before and thought he was Jesus. He learned fast that he can not walk on water. LOL. It was great fun for us. A very different kind of Disney trip. This year he will spend the week with family. Going to be so hard to leave him for a whole week though.

Now I know its a few days past when you were able to start booking reservations at Palo.... I got on yesterday to book one, and they are gone....

Anyone have more than one dinner booked??? I am willing to pay/bribe someone to give one up... :)

Thanks... Think about it....

Heard from Make a Wish today and we are BOOKED!! WOOHOO!!! Have two cat 9 rooms and are BEYOND excited!!!

I got online to see about Palo reservations and they are all gone, of course. :( I was also unable to book the babysitting for our little guy, but I'm still hoping we'll be able to move him into the youth program. Please say a quick prayer for the potty training. LOL

Make a Wish ROCKS!!!!!

We don't get into full costume BUT have a couple of great piratical t-shirts plus bandannas and associated accessories... AND I ordered a great skull necklace which arrived yesterday and is v-e-r-y menacing... pirate:

That's a shame! I know how horrible that is - we had two boxers in succession (different breeders, different sexes, different colours) who both died young from congenital heart failure. It took me a while to get over that... :sad2:

When my Old English Sheepdog was just a few months old, we had a vacation booked so I asked the breeder if she'd have her back for a couple of weeks - that worked out fine as I could check on her regularly. Nowadays I'm tougher but that's mainly because I have a kennels that I totally trust - they're in the country and the girls have a fabulous time. All those fascinating smells and other dogs!!!
