Yeah, frustrating.

As I said on my December 17th post above - a friend of mine (that IS booked on this cruise) was asking me (that isn't on it) about Fish Extender groups, some time ago.

We both did a (apparently bad) search for a cruise group both on faceboook and here on Disboards - but found nothing. So, eventually we went for the "If you build it they will come" and started a facebook fish extender group.

Once it was running smoothly, I did another search of where to promote the new group, in case anybody else wanted to join - and then found this one. Doh!!

I have created a FaceBook group for those who wish to communicate that way. The name of the group is 'Disney Dream May 11-15, 2014'. I am the creator, Mindy Gurtner. I set it up as a Closed group so if you request to be a member of the group please message me on here with your name so I can accept the request. That way we can filter any persons just looking to join groups for other reason who aren't actually on this cruise.

Tink - I'm not actually scheduled to be on the cruise - but I am helping the "owner" of the other facebook group to run her site.

I would be interested in following the conversations and being able to chirp in, if needed.

I see we have 2 Facebook groups for this cruise. One is "Disney Dream May 11-15, 2014" and the other is "5/11/2014, Disney Dream, 4 night Bahamas cruise". I thought I linked to both from this page. Are both from this group? Thanks!!

I created the Disney Dream May 11-15, 2014 group which seems to be the main page for communication. Not sure about the other though I did just ask to join that one as well. I believe that one may be more fish extender focused?

Yes, indeed the other group IS fish extender focused, very much so.

I have done three short (3 night) cruises - all on the Disney Dream in October, November and December of 2013.

I joined a fish extender group for the first and last of those as I heard about them whilst researching cruises after booking my first trip.

I apparently incorrectly assumed that the purpose of the Disboard groups WAS also for fish extending - and, if not, I'm very eager to learn what they are for. What is their intent.

Perhaps this is an opportunity for us to work in harmony now. You have already created this chat group and Kathy has already created an FE group, with a bit of technical input from my myself.

The two are apparently not in conflict so, if you don't mind, we would welcome any of your group to join in the FE group if they wish.

I've just added "Brenda" to the group.

You raise a good point about subscribers that do not have their own facebook accounts. It's something that will have to be thought about for future spreadsheets.

Having said that, access to the spreadsheet is available to anybody with the link (which is the ******* pinned to the top of the page). If you save that link to your browser, you will be able to keep current with the number of players and the number of cabins.

I'll speak with Kathy (group creator) about us posting any news updates here.

The only thing that has cropped up recently is that it looks like the list will officially close on April 6th. This takes into account that April 18 to 21 is Easter and folks may be travelling or hosting guests. We are aware that *some* folks will be planning more complicated exchange gidts and may need a lead time to order sufficient supplies and to construct (and maybe ship) the finished product.

Anyone subscribing to the list after April 6th will be advised that they are welcome to GIVE as many gifts as they wish but to be aware that they MAY not RECEIVE gifts from all cabins on the spreadsheet.

My own gifts, on the two FE's that I have participated, were trinkets that could be made on the day (as I have a stock of components at home for future use). I could construct the whole list on embarkation day - so it wouldn't be a problem to me.

My wife Holly and I will be on this cruise celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. This will be our second Disney Cruise but first without our kids. We are really looking forward to this cruise. We are going to be in room 6004.

I am interested in learning more about these fish extender things. Does anyone know anything about that?

Hi there! I am super excited to be going on my first Disney cruise with you all! My in-laws are veteran Disney cruisers, and bringing along myself, my husband, and his sister for the first time. We live near Orlando, so we are park experts, but cruising with the Mouse is our next adventure. :MickeyMo: (So if you need advice on things to do before/after in the area- I'm your girl!) We cannot wait!

I was told about the FE from friends who have done them in the past, and I am in! I'm not sure where to sign up, so can someone point me in the right direction?

So excited that my family will be joining everyone on this adventure in May!! My husband, myself, and our children 8, 7 and 2 will be aboard the ship!!

It is going to be extra special for us (besides that May 11 is mothers day!) because May 12 is my 30th birthday!!! Cannot wait to spend it with my family on our first cruise together!

Hello, I just found the groups on FB. Do you mind adding me? My name is Christina Espinosa.

This is our first family vacation and being that my kids and I are HUGE Disney fans, what more better than a Disney Cruise. We live down the street from Disneyland, being annual passholders, we're there at least 3 times a month, so we can't wait to see what the cruise has to offer.

We will also be celebrating my daughters 9th birthday on 5/14.
