May 10 2014 Disney Fantasy Western Caribbean Cruise Meet

The Jamaica excursions look interesting and diverse. The Bobsled coaster looks like a must. Just not sure what my mother will do when I'm on it. :)

did DCL just post Jamaica excursions? I looked a few days ago and didn't see anything. :confused3

off to poke ...

The Jamaica excursions were up a couple of days ago-there are a lot of ones that look interesting to me!

On a different vein- Does anyone know of a good park/stay/cruise hotel that will allow you to leave your car and transport you to the cruise? We used the Radisson a few years ago but I heard they aren't doing that anymore?

Any recommendations for excursions that young children would like? They will be 5 and 3.

Just realized that I never introduced myself. I am Janis and I will be Platinum on this cruise :cool1:. I am traveling solo but there are quite a few of my friends on this cruise. Looking forward to it!

Janis, you have always been Platinum. :)

Thought I'd check in to see what's going on since we decided to do this cruise.
11 months to go. Be here before we know it.:thumbsup2

Hi,

So my grandparents, Chris and Liz (rm 6673) have decided not to participate in the FE...Grandma said she's not crafty enough. Also, my sister, Melissa and I are going to give out a seperate gift. Do we list ourselves seperately or do you make a note that our cabin (6671) has 2 families participating?

Hello!

We just paid our deposit this evening and I am SO excited! We've never cruised before, at all, and are excited and nervous all together!

I apologize in advance for all my questions :)

Our party will be Me, DH, and DD (she'll be 3). We're celebrating our 5th anniversary, and wanted to take a cruise...but since we've never once cruised before I was only comfortable doing a Disney Cruise...and I couldn't imagine doing that without DD!

We're going to WDW in October, so I'm super excited that we have a vacation to look forward to once we get back home!

My first question though, what is F/E?

Jenn

Welcome Jenn! We felt the same with our first cruise, was only comfortable with Disney, now I couldn't imagine going with any other line, we love it so much.

The FE is a 'Fish Exchange'. It's basically a gift exchange but is called that because people hang the bags to collect gifts on the fish that are outside the doors that were originally put there for messages. Now on the newer ships they also have sea horses, but the classic ships only had fish. It's pretty fun.

Thank you so much! What a neat idea!!

Can we talk about excursions a little bit? I'm nervous because there are only a few we can participate in with DD (she'll be 3 at the time of sailing) and because this is our first cruise (even though I'm DVC- not using points, and a Premier AP for WDW and DL, sadly that means nothing on DCL- haha). So I'm afraid everything will book up before our window. Any advice?

Well, we will see. While we were on the Med cruise we decided to do the Sept 20 Puerto Rico cruise. We will either have to downsize this cruise, we have a verandah, or drop it. Hopefully, we will do both. Thinking of doing a week in PR before the cruise. PR is one of those places I have wanted to visit.
Cool thing is, no customs at the airport.

We should try to figure our excursions out together! My kids will be 5,5, and 4 when we cruise. It's also our first cruise on DCL, so I'm not sure what will even be available. I really think I'd like to do the dolphins/turtle in Grand Cayman.
Cozumel we were thinking a beach resort day. Not sure on the others yet.

We should! I think we're going to try for Dolphins in Cozumel (our T/A said it was a better program) but Grand Cayman is our back up. If we get Cozumel Dolphins, we'll do the other Turtle excursion (DD loves sea turtles!)

I'm thinking for Jamaica, we may just do the Hilton Inclusive Resort excursion and hang out there on the beach for the day :) I've heard that Dunn Falls is beautiful, but walking through the entrance/exit can be...and experience, and probably not one I want my 3 year old to see at this point in time (if that makes me a sheltering parent, so be it).

At least we have some time to sort through it all!!

Awesome!!! Thanks Everyone..

Welcome to the new posters!

I agree with you that Dunn's River Falls isn't a place for the pre-school crowd! Adults can sort of ignore the hard sell on the way out, and even the "funny" smell coming from the locker rental window LOL. Also the falls wouldn't be fun for the little kids (IMHO), although I had a great time (we went without a guide) and stayed away from the guides and the long lines of people, exploring a path on our own.

sorry I'm no help with excursions for the younger set as my baby is turning 25 soon!

what side of the ship are the even # rooms on? Can you see the fireworks show from the balcony of the even # rooms? What about when pulling into ports, are we facing the land or the sea?...
As for excursions with young kids, the Turtle Farm on Grand Cayman would be great for the little ones, you get to hold a few of the turtles - exciting for the children. I have 4/7 year olds, we are planning on the Xel-Ha on Cozumel - relaxing beautiful nature, lazy river, fish, my boys should have fun!
