Lisa, hope all goes well and he is home for Christmas.

Sad news today, my step father's mother passed away this morning. She hadn't been doing good for quite some time though.
V, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. :sad1: :grouphug:

So for a person who has never done a cruise like this (only been on one before)... what is to be expected?

anything I should know ahead of time?

Well, that's a million dollar question if I have ever read one.

It all depends on your family, what you enjoy, and what you want to get out of the experience. From those who do not want to miss a thing, to those who just want 15 days to unwind.

To put it as succinctly as I can . . . EXPECT TO HAVE A GREAT TIME!

DD19 is traveling with a friend (also 19) and her parents on the May 10 crossing. DD has been on many DCL cruises and was 18 on her last one. She enjoyed the social events for the 18-20 year-olds. They are interested in meeting others in this age group who will be on the cruise. Is there a separate thread?

Thanks from the Mom staying home :sad1:

As far as I know there are no threads for this cruise for the 18-20 age group. Perhaps they might like to start that particular thread.

Hi everyone! Oh my!!! Is there really over 2,000 pages to this thread? WOW! Needless to say I'd miss the boat if I tried to read all these pages, so could everyone just say who they are and where they're from so I can catch up?
We're super excited about this cruise. We're DH, DD5 and DS (who is newly adopted and will be 3 on the cruise) and myself. We're from NH and this will be our 3rd Disney Cruise.
Mala
Welcome! :yay: I'm Holly and am cruisng with my DS5 (Tyler). It's our 4th Disney cruise, my 5th cruise. Don't try to catch up, just ask us to fill you in on anything you have questions about and anybody will be happy to oblige! :goodvibes

:lmao: OH, don't be impressed! I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing....I just have to try! But I haven't gone out to buy the propane torch yet. I'm checking with all my friends who have husbands to see if I can find a husband nice enough to come do it for me....or at least let me borrow their stuff and tell me how to use it. :thumbsup2

I know I am way behind Holly, but am getting worried I am going to read you have burned your house down! I have NEVER used a torch on any plumbing, unless I was doing copper soldering - so I am really not sure about the torch idea.

I would think you just need a good pipe wrench, and some adequate leverage. But, saying that, I HATE doing plumbing!

Welcome back John! Don't worry, I didn't burn my house down! :rotfl: I guess the torch must be a common thing for plumbing because at Walmart they're sold in the plumbing aisle, right with the bathroom sink pipes & drain unclogging stuff, etc. But I wasn't brave enough to actually buy one and try it. I managed to get one nut unscrewed, but still have one more to try. We got too busy with other stuff for me to keep trying. Will have more time tomorrow.

JOhn gets his review tomorrow and they have the managers zmas dinner....(managers only - no family)....hope he gets his bonus!

Good Luck John - I'm sure after what I heard that you deserve it!

No bonuses here - the economy has killed that.

V - here is a photo of what you missed when you guys could not stay to see the lights. Remember this "tree" at the Osborne lights?

I am cruising with my son Daniel, DS18. He is a freshman at VA Tech. One of his best friends might also cruise with us, he will be 19 at the time we cruise.

Thank you for the warm welcome. We booked this cruise last February while on board the magic but I haven't allowed myself to become obsessive with the DIS board again until we were near 150 days or so. :rotfl:
I've done the eastern and western carib. How will the shows, menus, and activities be different on the repo cruise?

I know they do the snow on the Christmas party nights, not sure of any other nights though.
