Why are you making Christmas cakes and pudding NOW? It's 2 months until Christmas or have I missed something? :confused3

Some say you need 2 months for the cake and pudding to 'mature'. Also you can 'feed' the cake with brandy or rum a few times before decorating it!!!:dance3:

Christmas cards too? Boy are you ahead of schedule!

I fly off to Orlando on the 25th November, so want to be organised. We get back on the 11th December so don't want to be too stressed as well as jetlagged!

We did the same last year, and I found I was a little in front of many shops which didn't have it the things I wanted at that time - too early!!

Very good reasons!

In keeping with thoughts of those suffering from ill affects from the southern California fires, I thought I would post a message that came in my genealogy email that touches on the disasters that happen in other parts of the country:

On August 21st, our daughter's house flooded in Bluffton, OH. They lost everything in the basement and most of the things on the first floor. She had 46 totes with mostly Christmas decorations (5 Christmas trees). She now has about 6 totes with decorations, that were not destroyed. This whole thing has been devastating. But yet, we are all very thankful they got out and were not lost in the flood & sewage waters. Even as we all go through the aftermath of the flood, we thank God for what He has done for all of us.

The timing has been perfect. We had been trying to sell our home in SW Missouri for 5 years. We got an offer the end of July. Our daughter found us a house near her on Aug. 10th and put an offer down for us. Then the flood came and they spent a couple of days in a shelter and another 16 days in a motel. We closed on our house in MO. on August 30th and our daughter closed on our house in Ohio on Sept. 5th. They moved into our house on Sept. 7th and we got here Sept. 8th, with all our possessions. They cannot go back to their home because of the destruction and must find a home to rent. They will probably be living with us until January, when they hope they have a house to rent. There have been so many wonderful volunteers that have helped our daughter's family out. She works at Bluffton University and they made sure they had food to eat. The entire boys & girls soccer team at the University, showed up one night, to help take things out of the house. The volunteer firemen showed up to take all the stuff out of the basement. Because of the mold factor, anyone working in there had to wear breathing equipment. Several Baptist churches came, tested how far the mold had gotten into the house, cut 4-5' up on the drywall/plaster walls, on the first floor, removed the insulation and sprayed a chemical to stop the mold. None of these people got paid for their efforts.

God has certainly taken care of all of us during this time. So keep praying for those that are flood, and now fire victims in the California fires. With God's help, we will all get through these trying times.

4th row! Wonderful! You're going to have a great time!

I had to laugh about your Christmas cake adventure because that's how I bake/cook everything! LOL! So I just don't cook or bake at all.

OK.....I'm finally able to post our pictures we had taken just under 2 weeks ago. This first one is my least favorite because it just seems so plain. Sorry, I don't know how to crop off the big white part!!!

And finally, the last one. This is my favorite and will be on the wall in our living room. The 8 X 10 size really shows his missing 2 bottom teeth! Very cute!

Heather: If you have time to check here, let me know which photo you like best and I'll send you a real one. :thumbsup2

Holly, the pictures are lovely, both of Tyler and you. You really should not be shy of having your photo taken you know.
