Everytime you mention USF, I think of my nursing school - University of San Francisco!
DITTO!

hahahahaha me too... this football stuff is for the birds (or you football fans)

OK....every time I see you or V mention SEC, my mind automatically says, "Securities and Exchange Commission". Does that mean I have law school on the brain too much?! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

How about SOUTH EAST CONFERENCE?

I drive by the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) a lot while in DC!!

Kinda like DL (Delaware.....Disneyland)

thanks for that, I couldn't live another day not knowing (okay, sorry much tongue in check there) have I mentioned I'm a very sacastic person.....:rolleyes1

Now who wants to talk some shoes or American Girl dolls or best yet, shoes for the American Girl dolls :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

okay, I have to cut myself off, I'm getting a little loopy, too much girl scout fun for one day, I've reached the level of my 10 year old girls in my troop!

Holly, say "hi" to Jan for me! She and Dave are so nice. We would love to cruise with them again sometime. I just did a really impulsive thing last week. So unlike me. We just returned from the 9/29 Eastern and I saw the $599 bargain so I booked the 12/8/07 Eastern.:woohoo: We had traveled with our daughter and two DGD's and came home exhausted to we are taking a real vacation this time! I have never done anything so impulsive in my life but I am glad that I went for it!

As for the shipofthieves website, I registered but still cannot access it. I am a comuter dummy so I have no idea what is wrong.:confused3

you actually have to log in twice! They couldn't sort that problem I believe. Or else log into checking your private messages and go from there.

Grumpy John - ---- you are so right! I have found the bestest (I know, not a word) friends here on the DIS! For me, I moved here to be with DH and I really just joined his circle of friends. Although I don't see you all often, I feel as though I speak to you daily and I truly believe I could call - on at least my Geeks - for any help.

Thank you all for that....

V.....you have more new friends....you could call any of us for any help at anytime.....call me....and there are many others too who feel this way with you!!!!! It's really a great and very special thing that we have met here, but we do know each other so well....we have gotten very close.

I wish you guys could have realized more profit on the house but I know the market for real estate is down.

Me too, but at least it sold. We would have still been responsible for all the legal and advertising and auctioneer fees and expenses involved, even if it didn't sell. So at least we're ahead of the game and not under.

Must be hard to say goodbye to your brother and not know when you will see him again since he will be at sea somewhere.

I'm so used to it that it didn't strike me that way....Jimi's leaving again, he'll be back....see him then. This has been his lifestyle for the past 33 years....nothing new here....it's so typical, it's mundane to me at this point.

Maybe your Mother was just saying goodbye to the house...

I didn't look at it this way, but you could be right. I'd much prefer to think this was it.

Just my thoughts....

And always good thoughts at that! Thanks Noel!

:cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

Thanks Noel! And everybody else too who sent good wishes and thoughts today! Well, when I picked up Tyler from his dad's house today, his dad wasn't even there (he went out of town to visit friends), so there was no confrontation. BUT the stepmom did not say ONE SINGLE WORD to me and wouldn't even make eye contact. I was just my normal self, happy to see Tyler and making him well aware of that, laughing at his stories, etc. I reminded him to say goodbye to her and off we went.

Oh well! Life goes on! ;) If I don't hear from him by Monday, I'll have to contact him and make sure he'll be at Tuesday's appointment and remind him that if he doesn't plan on being there, I'll need him to sign the consent form for treatment.

And I'm prepared to contact the court Monday if necessary to inform him that he's stalling on doctor recommended treatment for our son and will prepare the paperwork to petition the court to order him to sign the consent form. Yup, this mother bear is starting to growl, so LOOK OUT.

I am so proud of you! What a pro! You've got it all under control! Good Job, Holly! Stick to your guns....it's for Tyler!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

:rotfl2: Thanks Noel, but there's no such thing as a perfect mom! :lmao: All I can do is try to do what I feel is best for Tyler. But the interesting thing about all of this is that it's making me think I might like to practice family law when I graduate. I always thought I'd stay far away from that area because it would be very hard to see the awful ways divorced parents use their kids as pawns against each other, but now I'm having a change of heart.

Anyway, my feathers just got ruffled today because the stepmom signed a paper for school that tells when Tyler's conference is. She signed where the paper asked for the parents' signature saying whether the conference date and time would work. She signed his dad's and her name on the parent signature line. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it really bothers me. As I've mentioned before, I truly do appreciate how well she takes care of Tyler and how much Tyler loves her. That's the honest truth. BUT I feel she crossed a line here because she's NOT his parent.

I don't want to offend any step-parents reading this because step-parents are a major part of a child's life, as my stepmom was and still is a major part of my life. HOWEVER, in today's world, sad as it may be, spouses come and go, but a child's mom and dad will always be his parents. I guess my point is that it's not her place to sign a paper requiring "parent" signatures. Sorry if I'm being petty and I sincerely apologize if I've offended anybody here. Just venting. :guilty:

Would have been nice if his dad had called me first and said, "This is what time the teacher scheduled us for Tyler's school conference. Before I sign this, can you make this date and time?" Oh well.......So I simply crossed off her name and managed to squeeze my name in the tiny bit of space below their names. :sad2:

How rude of her! How inconsiderate of both of them. I'm a stepmom and I'm not offended. I would never presume to be their mother.....they already have one and it's not me. I know my boundaries. I think it's just callous and cold what they did. You did the right thing to cross her name off and put your name on, after all you are his mother!

:hippie: :hippie: :hippie:

I think you would make an excellent family law attorney. Just a thought about the step-mom, do you think maybe that she signed because Tyler's Dad asked her "to handle it".

I don't know much other than what you have said about Tyler's Dad other than what you have posted but it just occured to me maybe that might be the situation.

Just my thoughts....

Even if my husband told me to do it, I wouldn't do it because that's not my place.....speaking as a stepmom.....she has to take responsibility for making that decision and signing that paper......and she was wrong to do it.

Just my opinion.....

Thanks Deb, that's exactly what my own stepmom thought. BUT I woke up today and am over it. I'm sure I'll politely mention it at some point....wil say something to his dad along the line of how I'd appreciate it in the future if he signs or asks me to sign things that ask for parent signature. He won't like me bringing it up because he also feels she has equal parent rights, but it's another thing I feel strongly about. But for now, it's done...in the past...etc.

Gosh so much sports yesterday. I am sorry but LSU should have lost that game. The new standings aren't out yet.....

John has to work until noon. I think we may be having a cook out with his parents today?? Not sure.

unlike overcast and drizzly yesterday, today the sun is shining bright and it looks gorgeous out!

Enjoy your beautiful day V! It's supposed to be warm and sunny here too, so after church we're meeting my mom at a zoo in another city: Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, MI. It's about a 50 minute drive for us and about a 25-30 minute drive for my mom.

Tyler just told me his teacher told me she wants to talk to both of us at church today. Uh oh!!! (His kindergarten teacher also works with the kids at church so we see her both places). :scared:

well I managed to sweep and get a load of laundry folded and put away before the girls woke up. We just missed Happy Feet, I didn;'t know it was on HBO, must have just been released.

Just wanted to write and say hi and thanks for the well wishes I got.

Between working on the house to get it ready to put up for sale , beths school issues and work theres just not enough hours in the day anymore!

Definitly looking forward to meeting everyone, but have to say that we may have to cancel this cruise, all depends on what happens before feb with selling the house and planning the move.We go back in a few weeks and should know more.

Taking beth to MNSSHP tonight, supposed to rain but keeping my fingers crossed it wont! Shes very excited about our costumes that we made!
Heather
