You go GIRL!! I think you have the makings of a top notch attorney. You are already a PERFECT Mom!!
:rotfl2: Thanks Noel, but there's no such thing as a perfect mom! :lmao: All I can do is try to do what I feel is best for Tyler. But the interesting thing about all of this is that it's making me think I might like to practice family law when I graduate. I always thought I'd stay far away from that area because it would be very hard to see the awful ways divorced parents use their kids as pawns against each other, but now I'm having a change of heart.

Anyway, my feathers just got ruffled today because the stepmom signed a paper for school that tells when Tyler's conference is. She signed where the paper asked for the parents' signature saying whether the conference date and time would work. She signed his dad's and her name on the parent signature line. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it really bothers me. As I've mentioned before, I truly do appreciate how well she takes care of Tyler and how much Tyler loves her. That's the honest truth. BUT I feel she crossed a line here because she's NOT his parent.

I don't want to offend any step-parents reading this because step-parents are a major part of a child's life, as my stepmom was and still is a major part of my life. HOWEVER, in today's world, sad as it may be, spouses come and go, but a child's mom and dad will always be his parents. I guess my point is that it's not her place to sign a paper requiring "parent" signatures. Sorry if I'm being petty and I sincerely apologize if I've offended anybody here. Just venting. :guilty:

Would have been nice if his dad had called me first and said, "This is what time the teacher scheduled us for Tyler's school conference. Before I sign this, can you make this date and time?" Oh well.......So I simply crossed off her name and managed to squeeze my name in the tiny bit of space below their names. :sad2:

I think you would make an excellent family law attorney. Just a thought about the step-mom, do you think maybe that she signed because Tyler's Dad asked her "to handle it".

I don't know much other than what you have said about Tyler's Dad other than what you have posted but it just occured to me maybe that might be the situation.

Just my thoughts....

Ok so DH askes me 2 questions I don't know the answer to today.

1. Are we still going to link dining. The worst thing about our cruise last year was we had no table mates half the cruise. We would love to eat with some of you!

2. Is anyone still using the Ship of Theives website or will you be? I was just curious.

Holly, sending lots of pixie dust. My DM had problems with my disability when I was young. He will be better having you there for him now. It is not easy for him either.:grouphug:

Everyone who is cruising or vationing- Have a Wonderful time.

We haven't met anyone on this cruise before but today we were talking about how great it was going to be to meet you all. I know I don't post as much but I TRY to keep up. You seem like such an awesome group. Can't wait to meet!

I would love to link up with some DISer's for dinner. I think this is a great group but I cannot keep up with the thread and have pretty much given up.

For some reason I cannot get access to the shipofthieves website but wish I could.:confused3

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Anyone watching the Indians and Red Sox? DH is about to have a heart attack. Says he wants to pack up and leave Cleveland.

Vandy beat #6 SC!!

Great for VA Tech!!

The sun was shining, the breeze was calm, the temperature was warm.....a beautiful day for an auction.

I left the house and went to mom's 15 minutes before the start. The sun went away, the wind kicked up, it was cold.....we held the auction inside. The house sold for $144.....I'm grateful for the sale....but just about break even.....no profit to be made. How sad for such a grand home. I saw all the people bidding on it in mom's dining room and remembered all the times in her kitchen.....it was hard to see strangers standing there bidding on it. Now, we put it behind us and move forward onto a Wonderful vacation.

Brother hen already left for the hotel. I probably won't see him for a very long time. I'm sure he'll call all the time though. I told him to let me know as soon as he gets a ship. I'd like to know where he is in the world.

The sun is shining once again, the breeze is calm and the temperature is warm......could mom have been upset about selling her home at auction, since the weather changed exactly at 2pm and was sunny by 3pm when the auction ended!?!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I am so glad you sold!! How awesome is that.

The SEC basically beats each other out of any kind of titles. :(
The SEC certainly is great. As much as I have always liked the ACC, the SEC is really the best conference.

I wonder where John is.....I thought he would be on FREAKING out!!!

Noel, that's a very good perspective. And the main reason why I'm just venting only to family and friends, rather than calling his dad or stepmom to ask what they heck was going on, is because I hate to act without knowing all the details. SO, that's a very good possibility. If that's the reason, it's too bad she didn't mention it to me first to make sure I could make the conference date and time before signing saying that "the parents" could be there.

All in all, by tomorrow I will have calmed down and let go of this. I tend to get REALLY riled up about things, but get over it very quickly unless it's something major, then I won't let go until it's resolved. :thumbsup2

Thanks Noel! :goodvibes I love your thoughts!

Grumpy John - ---- you are so right! I have found the bestest (I know, not a word) friends here on the DIS! For me, I moved here to be with DH and I really just joined his circle of friends. Although I don't see you all often, I feel as though I speak to you daily and I truly believe I could call - on at least my Geeks - for any help.

Thank you all for that....

NOW ---- COME ON GATORS, I was typing and the damn Wildcats scored!

You call, we'll be there! :grouphug:

Somebody will be able to give you the access info for the shipofthieves website, but I don't know where I put the info I saved about it, so I can't help....sorry! I don't ever go there, so I'm not much help. :guilty:

Even if you can't keep up with the thread, please continue to stop in and say hi every now and then! Looking forward to meeting you because Jan (JanDave) says you're really nice. I think she told me she met you on a 2004 cruise? I work with her and we're constantly driving our co-workers nuts with our DCL talk! :rotfl2: She always asks me if you've been posting here and I tell her I see you post once in a while.

OK....every time I see you or V mention SEC, my mind automatically says, "Securities and Exchange Commission". Does that mean I have law school on the brain too much?! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Holly, say "hi" to Jan for me! She and Dave are so nice. We would love to cruise with them again sometime. I just did a really impulsive thing last week. So unlike me. We just returned from the 9/29 Eastern and I saw the $599 bargain so I booked the 12/8/07 Eastern.:woohoo: We had traveled with our daughter and two DGD's and came home exhausted to we are taking a real vacation this time! I have never done anything so impulsive in my life but I am glad that I went for it!

As for the shipofthieves website, I registered but still cannot access it. I am a comuter dummy so I have no idea what is wrong.:confused3

South East Conference.....GOT IT now! Thanks! :goodvibes I never would have figured that one out on my own. :rotfl: And regarding the whole DL confusion, I always thought the abbreviation for Delaware was DE. :confused3

I'm a computer dummy too, so I have no idea what to tell you about the other website.....sorry! But I know a bunch of others here will help you as soon as they read this. :thumbsup2

You're right about Jan & Dave for sure! Jan always keeps me laughing at work and whenever we're able to go out for a drink after work. She's a crackup! And Dave is just so nice, he makes me think of an old bear! :goodvibes

Congrats on booking your 12/8 cruise! That's too good a deal to pass up. Have fun! :yay:

I'll tell Jan HI for you when she returns from her vacation. She's off all next week. She and Dave are on the DVC member cruise this Sunday, then WDW afterwards. :woohoo:

Well, I didn't mention it before because I thought I was just mistaken due to all my stress related brain leaks. :rotfl:

Talked to my dad on the phone for an hour just a bit ago and feel much better. He reminded me of a medical issue he and my mom fought about when I was in elementary school. I remember that VERY clearly. This is gross, and a bit embarrassing for me, but I wound up with scabies in 5th grade after a birthday party sleepover. The birthday girl was contagious, the mom didn't know it yet, and I was the lucky one to sleep in her bed with her. Anyway, my mom made light of the situation and only took me to the doctor because my school told her I couldn't come back to school without proof that I'd been to see a doc. Long story short, my mom kept sending me to school, the school wouldn't let me get past the principal's office, they'd call my dad and ask him to pick me up. This happened 4 days in a row. She was very negligent and I remember very clearly who was looking out for me. My dad's point in bringing this up was to tell me to stick to my guns and that Tyler will appreciate it when he's older. What a great dad!

I think that on THIS thread we have found friends and any time you find one of those you need to put in the effort to let every one know that this is how you feel, here every thing can be posted, here every thing is right.
I love that thought...no matter how crazy our days are, our lives are, we can jump on this board and every thing is right. With the vision of an incredible vacation on the horizon, we gather to discuss on daily interactions, daily joys and sadness. And when we meet, whether on some prior mini Dis meet, or in the lobby of the Hyatt, or on the decks of the Magic...we will smile, hug, and know each other and accept each other and every thing will be right.
....and I think it will be the FUNNEST group too! :thumbsup2
No doubt on that one! Did I ever tell you guys about the cruise I sang "Happy Birthday" to some man I did not know a la Marilyn Monroe style?? Not quite dancing on the tables like Angie! But fun nevertheless (at least that is what I was told!)

Not sure about Private Practice either. I will give it a few more episodes but may not record more.

Kids grow so fast. I can't believe my son will be 41 on October 24.....

Hope your son feels better soon.
He is feeling better. He missed one birthday party today but should be up for the one tomorrow. 41...it will come so soon. Remember....I turn 40 on the day we pass through the Panama Canal!!!

Where does your name come from? We had two ragdolls...one died earlier this year, the other is now at our old neighbors as he was more of an outside indoor cat and we were worried he would die from the racoons. I think we might visit him tomorrow...we sure miss him.

This is the place to vent!

You are welcome. My thought was that it probably didn't occur to askyou because she KNEW you would make the conference as Tyler is your first priority!!

No, Holly, I thought the same thing. Comes from having a husband being a founder in a start-up and watching the tapes about family insider trading!!! Scared me to death!!
