Can't believe it took 90 minutes to catch up!

C
I tried to suggest the "only gifts under 18" thought with Scott's family...but got accused of being "selfish" .

This year, try the "a donation was made in your name to 'x' charity" gift for all the adults and buy gifts for the kids. They certainly can't accuse you of being selfish for that, and it's a lot easier on you (but doesn't help your pocketbook too much.

STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!

I took a half day off work...went out for a nice lunch, went to the movies (Elizeabeth: The Golden Years) and had a pedicure. Very nice afternoon.

Can't remember what else I wanted to comment on and the cat is yelling for her dinner. This is for everybody:

:grouphug: :cheer2: :scared1: pixiedust:

and this pirate: if for Nan and # 32000!

Ditto on how long to catch up - and it was only 2 1/2 days!

How was Elizabeth? We are debating seeing that. Though this Friday we are going to see 30 Days of Night.

Holly - have you decided what you are doing tomorrow about the dr. appointment?

It's actually just a family counsellor his dad is going to, but I'm going to e-mail him and say something like, "You forgot to let me know what time and where the appointment is. I need to know when and where to go since you said the first meeting is just for the parents" and will see what that gets me.

Holly,

The only thing I can even say is that I have always believed a mothers intuition is the best. You know your son better than anyone else. You know what is best for him and I don't think you should ever discount that.

Kim

Thank you! Plus, there are only TWO days every week that I don't see Tyler. Sure, he's at his dad's 3 nights a week, but I'm with him in the morning before work & school on Wednesdays, then we have 2 hours together after school before his dad picks him up, then I don't get to see him Thurs or Fri, but pick him up Saturday afternoons. So I truly believe I know Tyler much better. :thumbsup2

Holly- you're doing the right thing about Tyler. Don't worry about WWIII!

Thanks! No worries! The only hard part is how much of a bully he's always been. Sure, we've always gotten along and cooperated in the past, but that's because I always give in to whatever his argument is just to avoid Tyler having to see us argue about anything. He used to always start arguing about whatever his problem of the week was and I'd calmly ask him to e-mail me about it or call me after Tyler's in bed to avoid him seeing any conflict, and then I'd later give in just to get it over with and move on. But NO MORE! At least not about something that affects Tyler's well-being.

I wish you guys could see me now.. Olivia is falling asleep on my legs. Her head is on my feet, and her feet are agains my hips. She's such a mommy's girl!
Awwww! Such a sweet vision! Where's a photographer when you need one?! ;)

Press on Holly!! You're doing the right thing and if you're ever doubting it, feeling low or just need some bolstering...come here....we'll hold you up when you need it!!! :thumbsup2 :cheer2: :grouphug:

Thank you!!! I've always been a very strong person....had to for some of the major things I've been through in life. And I'm not one for crying....I just don't get that upset over things. Until now. The past couple of days, I'm on the verge of crying ALL the time and feel my strength crumbling, just when I need it the most. So I've decided that I'm going to schedule a massage for Wednesday evening right after Tyler's dad picks him up. :thumbsup2

No way, your posts either have me laughing or wanting to eat...

Especially STEAK!!! :rotfl2:

And here is the Choc covered oreos, these are beautiful!!!

Oh wow! Those look so cool!

Still catching up from the last 3 days- have had a very busy weekend and haven't posted since Thursday night!

But before I continue with catch up....

Congratulations John!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

It's Tribe Time Now!!!!

Though I think a massage will help in my life you sometimes you just need to melt down and let it all out. My philosophy of life has always been get mad, get gland and get over it. Sounds like you need to schedule some time to cry, scream, throw things and in general melt down. You may really feel relieved afterward and ready to face whatever comes!!

Everything you have gone through today shows that you are taking the proper steps for Tyler. Tyler's best interests are all that should concern you and his Dad. It is a shame he is not willing to cooperate but I totally agree you should go the distance even if it means taking him to court!!

YOU GO GIRL!!!

OH YEAH! :thumbsup2 What's funny is that I think he seems to forget that I do work with NINE lawyers every day! :rotfl2: Of course they're all always happy to lend a helping hand whenever they can. One of those guys does family law and he's a real go-getter, so I know he'd help me out. I've mentioned things in the past to him and he'd be happy to take him to court.

Holly, your ex needs to just come to the realization that there could be something else wrong. The sooner the doctor's get to the root of Tyler's issue the better. Stick to your guns ---- for Tyler's sake!
:cheer2: Absolutely!

As part of Vanessa's US Gov't class, she has to volunteer 15 hours in different campaigns. She has been trying like crazy to find a democrat to volenteer for, by they never answer the phone in the campaign headquarters. Tonight we spent 3 hours in a Republican for VA State house. there were 10 male campaign workers, age 22 -26 and were they cute!! We really had fun they gave my hours to Vanessa so she got 6 hours. Ihave not done anything like that since I was in my 20's..it was really great and I think Vanessa is starting to see the differences in the Democrats and Republicans.
What a great opportunity.....and sounds fun too!

How did that come to happen....I hope you don't mind my asking.....it's just that you always have such great life stories and I couldn't resist.

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I don't mind you asking. My parents were in the midst of an ugly, angry divorce. I was the only one left at home. My mom was working and my dad went to be with "friends" for the weekend. Friend turned out to be my future stepmom. :confused3 My sis was newly married and went to her inlaws, my brother was in college in Texas, also newly married. My best friend and her parents loved me very much, but it never occurred to them that I would be alone. It was a sad day for me that I think I will always remember, even the the feelings I had. BUT the next Sept I met my Prince and have had nothing but wonderment since then! I also have made it my life goal to make sure my family and friends have the most loving Thanksgivings possible. I know I have succeeded with that because 3 generations of our family will tell you that Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday. Several of them told me that as little children and if you think about it, it is the only holiday when the children don't GET anything. But still it is/was their favorite holiday.

do cats really do this?
:rotfl2: ::yes:: Cats have some truly amazing personalities and some can be quite vocal! My mom's neighbor when I was a kid had Siamese and they were REALLY loud and demanding! They cracked me up!

I can assure you Angie is as awesome as she sounds....as are Dennis....John and Amy....PJ....Steve and Kim....we have a great group here!

My Grandfather was the first love of my life and continues to hold a very special place in my heart. I grew up with my Grandparents from 6 weeks old until the age of about 7-8. When I was younger I always asked what he wanted for Christmas, and he was a peanut lover, so when Grandma and I went out, I desperately had her buy one of those Planters nut gift packs they had at the holidays. Whether he ate it or not, he had me convinced he loved it. To this day there is always a Planters gift pack wrapped under the tree for my Grandaddy.

Vanessa, that is so touching. I know your grandparents were very special people (well, Grandma still is!), but that is the most touching thing I have heard.

I think that's a great idea. With my luck, when I finally do have time, I probably won't feel that urge to let loose. I'll just wing it! :goodvibes
