Still have four pages to catch up on, but wanted to share my 'cosmic' dog story.

Just a few weeks after my mother passed (which was just 8 months after my father did), a group of us went up to Sedona for a new-age, woo-woo, metaphysical mumbo-jumbo excursion. That Sunday we had each wandered off to find a meditation spot and I was sitting in the red rocks and thinking about my parents. I realized I'd lost my source of unconditional love and decided it was time to get a dog.**

'Somenone' whispered in my ear and suggested I go get a Minature Schnauzer...TODAY. :confused3

So as we were driving back to the valley that afternoon, I told the girls about my 'message' and said I'd pop by the shelter if we made it back in time. We did, I did, and there was Jock....just waiting for me. He hadn't been there 24 hours yet, and the volunteer told me pure breads usually find homes within 48 hours. We had a lot of happy years together.

**OK, that sounded really strange when I re-read it...but you know what I mean**

.

What an awesome experience Jackie....see how things just seem to come together and work out when you're in tune to yourself and your universe....everything for a reason....I believe!

Knowing my friend John, I am guessing he is like me, and just would not go for a Corgi. I agree, perfect dog for a cat person, but somehow a dog that just comes up to your ankles just doesn't seem like a dog! Probably a guy thing too . . .

Amy wanted a smaller dog too - but I wanted a dog I could play with, wrestle with, and who at LEAST came up to my knees! The one great advantage I could now see in a Corgi or similar dog would be the inability to reach the counter tops!:rotfl2:

Me and John felt the same way....we wanted a big dog, but one that would be sweet and gentle and also a watch dog and intelligent....so we went for long haired shepherds. Even though Angel is a bit of a challenge, she's smart as a whip and very playful. She's also a good protector. Gandalf was excellent too. He would take your lead....if you liked who was at the door so did he, but if the hairs were up on the back of your neck, he growled. I'm home alone most days and we live in the woods. I like knowing that I have a big dog to protect me at all times.

Sounds like the book "The Time Travelers Wife" - which I really enjoyed!

LOVED that book!

Lisa/disneylover5....I started my first meal from diettogo today. Thanks for the referral....it's more like real food and tastes much better. I only ordered two weeks of the B, L & D and some snacks. It cost me $130 per week, that's not bad.

I'll be very interest to hear about how this works for you. How the food tastes, do you prepare all of it in the microwave? When I was considering it, I couldn't decide where to have the food sent...office or home? No one is here during the day to receive it/bring it inside and I didn't know how big the 'package' would be...would I have room to keep it frozen at work the day it arrived. :confused3

I heard that. Was he any good as the captain?

Scott is good at EVERYTHING he does! He sings like an angel  too!

A question for all of you experienced e-bayers . . .

I have two tickets to all of the Indians playoff games (including the World Series). I will not be able to go to all of the games, and would like to sell some of my tickets to make my money back, and make some extra from crazy fans if possible. The World Series tickets in particular are really expensive ($175 - $200 each).

Should I try to sell the games I do not go to on ebay?

I have bought stuff on ebay, but never sold a thing - should I do this?

Just popping in to say 'Hi'. I tried catching up on the past posts, but I can't even find the last post I made. I remember it has something to do with the new baby, Serenity.

DH is out of town this week in Vegas, so I have time to DIS. I miss DH when he's out of town, so I dream of DCL vacations to help pass the time.

I hope the full moon finds everyone in good health and happiness. I think I'll go back and try and catch up on most of the posts.

PS. Happy belated birthday, PJ.

~Tori

Welcome back Tori!! We have missed your posts!!

well I am bummed....the job posting is down! :(

Still no word from the HR lady. I would have at least thought she would call me back.

Do any sci fi lovers watch 4400? It's on USA on Sun nights. They just did the season ender....but I'm about 7 episodes behind....on TiVo. They will probably repeat them if anyone is interested....the premise is that 4400 people were abducted then returned with individual unique abilities....John got me hooked on it and now he doesn't watch it.
:woohoo: :wizard: :woohoo:

Hi Deb!

I've watched the 4400 since it came out....very interesting season ender.

You should definitely sell them on ebay....just set up an account....they will take you through all the required info. First you should set up a PayPal account. Then they can pay you that way. It gets more people bidding on your item. Go to paypal.com and submit all the info to set it up then go to ebay and sell, sell, sell....you would be surprised at the price if there is a bidding war for the item....and tickets are hot items. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!

:yay: :cool2: :yay:

Monica, that came to mind as I was watching, but in Quantum leap the lead character didn't have the issue of a wife, son and brother to deal with, which give an interesting layer to the show. And the leaping doesn't seem to be voluntary in nature.

Hi PJ!

I watched the pilot last night...interesting. I liked the way he proved himself to his wife at the end.

Just popping in to say Hi also...school has started and we've been busy! I haven't had a chance either to read back. Hope all is well with everyone. I'll be lurking about until november when it slows down.

Steph

Hello again and welcome back even if for a drive by post. DD and GK's are off two weeks starting Monday for their "fall break" as they started school July 31.

Today must be the "pop in and say Hi" day because I'm doing the same. HI everyone! Things have been so busy with school activities and after school activities. My part time, at home job has me swamped...so much for 10 hours a week! Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi" and I'm still around, thinking about everyone, praying for those who are not well, sending good wishes to cute new babies and of course, happy belated birthday to PJ (oh and happy UNbirthday John)!!!!!!

Good to hear from you!! One of the things I do not miss as an empty nester is the volunteering and school activities that kept me busier than a full time job!!

LOVED that book!

So far, so good. The food tastes 100% better than Nutrisystem. You get it frozen in a cooler with dry ice and keep it in the freezer, then just microwave it when you're ready to eat it. Mine came to the house and stayed in the cooler outside until John came home from work....it was fine and still very frozen. I would have it sent to the house and they will leave it at the door. If you have it delivered to work, you can just leave it in the cooler and take the cooler home with you at the end of the day. It will still be frozen. I ordered 2 weeks worth of the basic menu B, L, D, and only received and was charged for one week so far. They will automatically send another package in one more week and charge again. I got the 1200 calorie a day plan. I'm very happy that Lisa recommended them, they are sooooooooo much better than Nutrisystem. I say GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!

One month from today I will be on my way and headding to Cocoa Beach for two days, then cruising on the Wonder for four nights, then onto World for three days...doing the MNNSHP for the first time and meeting Mandy/UKangel for drinks. I'm getting really excited. We had this trip planned for over a year and now we're only one month away.:woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo:

I think it would be so exciting to go to MNNSHP!! With GK's having time off from school in October each year, we will have to do this one year. Say cheerio to Mandy for us!!

If I already am set up for all of that to buy, do I have to set it up again to sell? (I know a lot about computers, but this is all new to me).

Does it matter that I have never sold anything before?

Do you know what ebay charges?

Thanks!

Oh how special for David and Karen....being their first. I can't believe she was home within 24 hours....that's very fast. I hope mom is feeling well.

Two hours is a long drive....you can't go visit everyday....but there are weekends! I hope you spent two hours while Molly Kate was awake. I always go for visits and the babies are all asleep. I hope you timed it better than I do!

:hippie:  :hippie:

When I gave birth to Mark and Jennifer in 1966 and 1968, I was in the hospital for 3 days. I was able to rest up and gather my strength before I returned home with a newborn. When I gave birth to Samantha in 1985, I was out of the hospital in exactly 24 hours. Times sure change!!

It's my first time going to MNNSHP so I'm very excited....glad to have things to look forward to after the cruise coz I always hate getting off the boat.

Mandy and I will do a champagne cheers to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

I'm in so much trouble...I just emailed DU to send me a quote for the Sept 08 cruise to see if we can go with our friends. It's to Costa Maya and it's a double dip. It's also our anniversary and our friends' anniversary too. So we just have to go, right?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Absolutely!! Don't we all just work to DIS and cruise?
