Although I may not post as much as a lot of you, I try to read as often as I can, and am amazed at how generous and kind you all are to one another. So, where generally in life I have learned to be a little careful what I share with others, simply to protect myself from hurtful comments and judgements, I have decided to share with you what has been one of the most joyous days of my life.

Today I became the grandmother to the most beautiful baby girl:angel: :cloud9:

At 9:25 AM , Serenity was born weighing 8lbs 14 oz.

You may remember my daughter was married in May. Well, two days later, my son (who moved to another province in Feb) informed me that his girlfriend, who still lives here, was pregnant and expecting in Sept. We have had a few tough months. His girlfriend, Samantha (yes, yet another Samantha! ) and him planned to move her out to where he is after the baby was born. She is young and scared:sad1: One day she wants to move, the next she wants to stay here, how hard to have a new baby and move half way across the country where there are no friends or family. She does not have a mom around which just makes this harder. So my son took some time off work and came home a couple of weeks ago and Samantha has moved in with me for now. And finally, a week late (after being told by the doctors she was definately going to be early:rolleyes: ) a sweet baby girl was born this morning:goodvibes They will be coming home, to my house, on Monday. My son needs to go back to work on Thurs and Samantha and the baby will stay with me until Nov then move out west. I am so worried about how they will make out and whether Samantha will actually be able to follow through with these plans. But I try very hard, especially after losing my husband 5 years ago, to live each and every day for itself. So, on this very special day, I hope to share with all of you , the joy of being a grandma for the very first time.

Kathe

Many congratulations and welcome little baby Serenity.:cutie: What a beautiful unusual name too. Enjoy the days ahead.

Marilyn,

I remember you talking about a fantasmic dessert, but what is the Illuminations dessert and viewing?

Karen

This was offered as part of the package we booked for our last 4 nights in December. You go to a special area for desserts and watch Illuminations from there. One of the places is the Patio near the bridge from UK to France so I hope it is there, but I think there are other places. Last year we did an Illuminations cruise and that was amazing.

I want to do a Wishes one sometime too.

Yes, March babies are great! ;)

You can't really get authentic S'mores at a restaurant since you really need the campfire to roast the marshmallows. Just not the same toasted over a burner. I like mine just toasted brown, DrHug likes his burnt!

Congrats on the latest big post!!pirate: pirate: pirate:

Where were Venetia and Bubba?!!!;)

Karen

Well yesterday is over and it wasn't a pretty task. Everybody's emotions were high, nerves were raw, exhaustion setting in and everytime you picked up something to decide whether to keep or throw out, you grabbed the tissues. It was not easy.

Venetia, just having been through it yourself, I know you realize what was involved.

But we got it all done. The only thing left to go back and finish today are all the Christmas decorations....more memories.....more tissues. Then we're finished and the house is empty. I will be glad when this weekend is over. I think we have all had enough.
:guilty: :sad1: :guilty:

Am new to the disboard. We are booked on the May 2008 west panama canal cruise. Live in Northampton Pa. Looking to meet up with other PA or NJ people.

Welcome aboard mateys....we live near you and there is another couple on this cruise that lives near you. We have done two mini meets so far. You're welcome to join us on our next one.

We are John and Deb and live in Saylorsburg just up Rte 33. Lucy and Bob live in Kutztown. We usually meet in the Allentown area....very convenient for you too. We just met last Saturday at Jack Creek off of Airport Road. I posted pics if you want to go back a week and look.

So who are you travelling with? How many kids? John and I have grown kids and grands that live in the area. Lucy and Bob have teens that are not coming with them on this cruise.

Tell us more about yourself and just chat away here with everyone. It's a great group of really caring people and we like to have a lot of fun too.

If you want to meet with just me and John for now, we could do that. If you want to wait for the next meet with Lucy and Bob too, that's fine. Let us know. After about 10 posts you can PM me.

Is this your first cruise? How did you learn about the DIS?

Welcome and looking forward to getting to know you.

We are generous and kind to one another, aren't we! And we like to have fun too! Thank you so much Kathe for sharing some good news with us. We need it on here because there has been so much news about losses and illness lately....we welcome your joyous news!

Congratulations Grandma....what a beautiful name for a sweet little soul....wishing you a lifetime of grand moments and memories with your precious little granddaughter. Congratulations to the proud parents Samantha and Brian as well. You'll have to bring pics on the cruise since you're not able to post them here. Big hugs to you today!!

I still didn't hear a word today. :(

Oh well, I did my best!
I hope it goes well for you Miss V! I've been so busy this week with the new office and the Office Managers in for their annual meeting, that I have NOT been able to check in here - your interview and the results of that have popped into my head a couple of times... I'm catching up now and hopefully will hear good news???!!!!

Since that is I think the last day for the Mickey Very Merry Xmas party, I was thinking of ordering tickets. Is there someplace special we could go during the day? Let me know if this is a go and I will order my ticket.
Jackie and I are very excited to be there this year for the PARTY!!! My first Very Merry Christmas Party! We then get to cruise the Wonder for 3 nights. YIPEE

Ok, I'm up to page 1912... Holy Smokes!

Kathleen Turner!

Great voice!

Body Heat is still one of my favorite movies.

Karen

Our corporate attorney's wife when to high school in with her! He even brought in the high school year book. Susan said she was very smart and very funny! (They were in Venezuela!) Military parents.

Now, Sweetie. Eat your bowl of cereal. :lmao:
That's too funny!!!! I love cereal for dinner... ;)
:rotfl::rotfl:

I like it when I come home from work and Angie has thrown an onion in the oven so I think she's cooking dinner!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
OMG - you two are too funny!!!!

Thanks, I am feeling much better. Samantha is Samantha Mary Birkner, Mary after my husbands mother.
Glad to have you back and at it!
I went out today and drove...it hurt a little, but it was worth it. The jewelry store called to say that my repairs were ready. I had mom's wedding ring made into a pinkie ring for me....it's a five stone marquee diamond band. And I took her pear shaped engagement stone and made it into a pendent and turned it upside down into a tear drop for mom. I feel better wearing them....first of all because they're diamonds, but mostly because mom wore them. :cloud9:
I know what you mean, I wear my mother's wedding ring and her sweet 16 ring around my neck on a chain! (Her fingers were WAY tiny!)
I'm a terrible skeet shooter....my cousin is really into it and good at it and I've tried with him a couple of times....I just can't get the hang of it....my aim is so off and then the thing if flying in the air. I could never catch it. But it was fun to try....even more fun if I could do it.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
SKEET SHOOTING AT WDW???? JACKIE - why didn't you tell me??? I love to "blow things up!"
So what other great games do we remember playing as a kid...there was badmitten and ping pong....we played pool, but were much older...there was of course bowling.pirate: :cool2: pirate:
Tether ball - my favorite word of those days ...shuttlecock!

Ok, back to catching up!:rolleyes1

A miracle! Tyler slept until 9 this morning! The kid who's always up at 6 or 7am finally wore out! ;) It was cute, I heard him stand next to me for a second, then I heard him whisper to himself something along the lines of "Mom's sleeping" and I heard him playing in his bedroom and whispering to himself. So cute! I didn't go back to sleep of course, just wanted to see what he was doing. The first thing he said to me was about how much fun he had last night. So we talked about the evening again. :goodvibes

Tyler was watching "Alice in Wonderland" while eating breakfast (I never realized as a child how bizarre the movie really is) and has now asked me to come cuddle with him on the couch under a blanket. Very cute! Off I go! After the movie we'll start out day! Still trying to figure out what we'll do before the 2:30 planetarium show....we'll just wing it and have a fun day.

Have a great day everybody!

Well, we finally won! Auburn is now 2-2 but not for long. We are trying to figure out how many body bags we are going to need for next week against Florida!

Ya'll sure were chatty yesterday - it will take me all day to catch up.

It's a Baileys Banana Colada....it's to die for and it's exclusive to DCL. I've tried getting them off the boat and they don't know what you're talking about and if you explain how to make it they will, but it doesn't taste the same. You must try one on this cruise!:cloud9: :woohoo: :cloud9:
OH YEAH, LOVE THOSE!!!!
