So....the best part of today: NO CALL FROM DAYCARE! And no call from Tyler's dad telling me day care called him. And yesterday Tyler had a great day too because he got to go to work with his stepmom at a construction jobsite and was given a REAL hardhat, so he was one happy camper! SO, 2 days in a row of good behavior, means he gets to pick 2 toys he can have back (plus 2 stuffed animals). :yay: AND he gets to go to Lamafest with me tomorrow! Can't wait! Lamas are so cute!

Oh Holly, I'm so sorry:hug: I can just imagine how you must have felt:sad2: It must be so frustrating for you.Good for you though to think about Tyler first, and to bring home the "homework" for him and arrange another meet. I hope all goes well for you both on Tuesday. You will be in my thoughts.
Kathe
:goodvibes Thank you! No way will I let him find out his dad let him down by causing him to miss out on this special occasion. I'll make sure starting Kindergarten is a memorable event for Tyler. His teacher met his dad & stepmom last month and could see their apathy about the whole deal, so she completely understands what's going on and is willing to do whatever she can to make sure Tyler's happy. She told me at orientation, "Don't worry, we'll make everything work out just fine." :thumbsup2

Oh man....I've got a bottle of Rose Ragale in the cabinet. I'd join you in a birthday toast, but then I'd have to drink the whole bottle by myself, and I don't think I want to do that. Guess I'd better find someone to share it with this weekend! Guess I'd better find some chocolate covered strawberries to go with it too, eh?

Hmmmmm, hey KAREN, how long will an open bottle 'keep'? I know the first time I tasted it, it was a 'second day' bottle. Maybe I WON'T have to share it!

Don't worry Jackie, I'll have another glass for you;)
I first tasted Rosa Regale two yrs ago at my first Wine&Food fest at WDW. I searched and searched for it at home but could never find it, even had someone at the liquor store do a search on their computer but they couldn't find it in any Ontario stores:sad2: Then a couple months ago it finally showed up in the Vintage wine section of the store, yippee, but they were just small bottles, 375ml. That would be a perfect size for you! I bought a case, hoping they get us through a couple more birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I usually like dry red wines like a Shiraz, but I do like this for that festive sweet ending to a meal, especially when it involves chocolate too:thumbsup2

Well, I guess I'd better get to bed. Have to get up really early because Tyler's getting dropped off at 8am. :yay: He was so happy when I talked to him on the phone this morning. Can't wait to have a great weekend with him! :thumbsup2

Hmmmm......I think somebody in my neighborhood is smoking wacky tobaccy! Or maybe I'm just imagining that smell wafting in through my windows. :rotfl:

Jackie,

If you put a Bouchon (special stopper for Sparkling wine) in the bottle and keep it in the fridge it can last up to a week!

Can you explain what is happening when you try?

Hi John, nothing happens when I click on a smiley that I want. The box that says - disable smiles in text in not check and my posting rules says that smiles are allowed. Is there something else that I can do?
Thanks, Anige

Hi Kathe and Happy Birthday. I noticed on page 1 that you are going solo on this cruise and I am too ( my first ) And I am from Alberta. I mostly have been reading the many many pages but have been posting these last few days. I hope I can keep up. I am wondering if we can maybe link our dining? I am on late dining but I have no idea how to link ressis.
Enjoy your Rosa Regale... I love that wine. I tried a glass at Epcot in 05 and I am hooked. I even found it in our small local liquor store. I read some where on another post that it is cheaper to get a Costo so I am planning to bring a few bottles in May.

Thanks Holly, I did. I hope yours was fun too? I never did have that drink for you yesterday, but at the moment I'm sipping on a glass of Rosa Regale, so here's a toast to your birthday:drinking1

I am back in Reno. My gall bladder acted up a little bit last night so I didn't sleep well but I am feeling better now. John and Samantha come in tonight. We are going to see "America" (Horse with no name fame) on Saturday, drive to the lake and then back to Reno on Tuesday morning.

Sorry about your gall bladder causing problems and disrupting sleep. Makes you realise you need the op!

Hard to believe it as I think it was MURDERED but mil think it was an accident.

I believe that it was MURDERED!!

John is still sure that it was suspicious, but he is a bit of a conspiracy theorist - he is not sure the artronauts ever landed on the moon either!:)

Marilyn,

Just as I was reading this they showed it on the news! They just showed a breif part of Harry's tribute.

I remember coming home from something late at night and it was on the news. I couldn't believe it and I watched the reports all night long! She and I were the same age and I just couldn't imagine her dying so young and leaving her two boys.

I was up here in Bodega for her service. One of the gals that I was up here with, (for a scrapbooking retreat) and I stayed up into the wee hours to watch the funeral live. We had a kleenex box next to us to share for the service.:sad1:

It is still very hot at home, but it is lovely here in Bodega Bay! It's been foggy all day and nice and cool!!:thumbsup2

I have done basically nothing all day!! First time in FOREVER!!:cool2:

Hope you have had a lovely day!

Karen

Karen, you just enjoy doing nothing, it will do you good, and same for Ted when he arrives.

Just opened up some mail that I had picked up at home before coming up here to Bodega Bay and found an Aniversary card for DH and I!:woohoo:

I had totally forgotten (life has just been TOO INTENSE:confused3 ) that our anniversary is this coming Tuesday, September 4th!!

Maybe we'll celebrate with a dinner or lunch somewhere up here this weekend!

Karen

A good reminder then!! Choose a special restaurant.

Thank you to everyone for all of the birthday wishes :grouphug:

I spent a lovely day yesterday driving to a few little nearby towns and shopping in lots of little giftshops and having a yummy lunch at a little inn with my friend who was also celebrating her birthday. Today (the 31st) is my actual birthday and I just got home from dinner out with my family. I'm stuffed! Lots of crab legs and salmon and shrimp and sushi ....I walked for 2 hrs this afternoon but I need to walk some more , I ate way more calories than I burned off!

I'm going to hurry up and post this, for some reason I keep losing my internet server connection:confused: I don't usually have any problems, guess I'll have to call them tomorrow if this keeps up.
Kathe

What a lovely way to enjoy your birthday.

I can't wait to try this Rose Regale - NOt sure we can get it here. Had some chocolate covered strawberries last week and enjoyed, but John says strawberries and chocolate don't go together!!:confused3 More for me!:rotfl:

Thanks! :goodvibes Actually, my day yesterday wasn't so great. After work, I went to Tyler's Kindergarten orientation, which his dad was supposed to bring him to as well because he was at his dad's. His dad never showed up with him. I'm too upset to talk much about it, but I what I was feeling most was sad for Tyler because he missed out on a really fun experience. And I'm furious with his dad for not caring about how excited Tyler is about starting Kindergarten. I haven't even been able to ask him about what happened because I'm afraid I won't be able to speak calmly about it. So I brought home the activities the kids got to do at orientation, and will tell Tyler he has his first homework assignment and we'll make it a fun project together. I don't even want him to know that he missed out on anything because I just couldn't handle seeing his disappointment from his dad letting him down once again. Fortunately, his teacher is wonderful and is letting him have his own personal tour of the classroom Tuesday morning, before his first afternoon of kindergarten. :sad2:

After that disaster, I didn't end up going to the comedy club with Cindy after all. I was too tired to want to stay up that late (the show wasn't to start until 8pm), so Cindy bought me a drink at a local bar. It was an early night.

Oh Holly:hug: I think dads can be like that anyway sometimes, but it must have really hurt. You are special though and organising his start at Kindergarden as you are doing is just wonderful.

I hope to get some pics. Just depends on how well the camera on my phone takes pics inside their building. :guilty: No camera yet for me....waiting for my mom to send that birthday check. :sad2:

It is fun when the snow falls - gets deep as you will know.
Oh, I know! They get tons more snow up there than we do. We're just a bit South of Gaylord, but far enough so that we don't get as much snow. (Probably just jinxed myself by saying that).

Did the snowman have a hat yesterday?

I think there's a bear in the background now! To the left of the snowman. Or something large!

Well it is 10 years since Princess Diana died.

Just watching some of the memorial service on TV . . .

We woke up on that morning, 10 years ago, a Sunday, switched on the radio and it was in the middle of a report . . .
We arrived at Heathrow the morning Princess Diana died. It was very eerie driving around London, listening to the news. The mood the entire week was somber, and we saw tributes and flowers (stacked four feet high!) at churches and at Harrods.

Woody

I think he did. In the winter he had a big one, like a cowboy hat, and it just was full of snow - about a foot - so funny. You can see quite a bit of wildlife there - you can look at the archive photos.

It was a very sad and shocking day. :sad2:

Well, Tyler will be home in 10 minutes. He's going to help me clean, which he loves to do, and then we'll head out to see the llamas. Have a great day everybody!

. . . For us I think renting a car to get home will be best option. It's too much of a hassle to ask our family to drive down to get us, plus then we can be on our own schedule in case we don't get off when expected, etc.
Lisa: Good idea to allow extra time.

Mrs. Woody was on the 2005 westbound PC cruise. (We both went on the eastbound.) Our friends had long delays finding missing luggage at the port in L.A. There was more luggage on the two week cruise than normal, and the port was new to the Magic's staff.
