Hi everyone, I have'nt been on in a loooooooooong time. I do try and keep up but I mostly just lurke.
I am booked for this cruise, my very first ever and I am going solo but I am so excited. I live in Western Canada and I see that there are other Canadians on this cruise. I would like to know how I can link my dining (2nd) with another solo dis'er, and when and I would like to know what excursions some of you have so I can join some of you. Also, what are the special get togethers that have been planned? I see the champagne girls that I would love to join.
Thanks, I may not post for a while but I try to catch up every day or so.

Angie

Hi Angie, welcome back....if you check out page one of this thread, you'll find lots of info on activities planned....we've got bunco and scavenger hunts and Palo and High Tea and Champagne Girls and lots of great stuff planned. For excursions, so far we only have a jeep convoy planned for Aruba. Let V/lillygator know if you're interested in doing that with us.

You can go to our website and find out about other singles doing late dining to hook up with. PM Auntie PJ/PJPoobear and she will give you info to log on.

I hope that helps you get started...it's going to be a great cruise with a bunch of great people....some of which are cruising alone....check out the roll call at the beginning of this thread and on the website to see who. How exciting that this is your first cruise...you picked a great one to do for the first time!:goodvibes :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Thanks Noel, I would love to get in with the group for the Palo brunch and dinner. I just need to know who to contact. Anyone know who I can PM about this???

Hi Deb, I will check out the first page. I guess I forgot about the website. PJ did send me the info, I will check that out too.
I am so excited to do this cruise. It almost seems unbelievable that I am going. I plan on flying to Orlando a few days prior and stay at Cocoa Beach. I did see a few that are doing the same.

Hi Noel...how are you feeling tonight? Are you back in Reno?

Hi Amy and John...you guys crack me up!!!! I LOVED LOVED LOVED the very proud family pics of all...that had to have been a momentus day....starting 2nd grade with one and the white coat ceramony with the other. Good Job mom and dad...you're doing something right! John, watch out for Sophia...I can see how much she has grown up from the picture in your signature to the current school pic...she's quite a looker and she's going to break many, many hearts some day...Good Luck!:sad1: :upsidedow :sad1:

Hello cruisers,
I have been asked to give you a message from your friend Nan (nskjerven):

Hello dear friends:

I’ve just come home from a morning mammogram/ultra sound appointment with my mom. My mom has been diagnosed with a breast mass (or 2) and I’m the point person to work with her doctors on getting a biopsy (with in the next few days).

It’s not looking good and I expect that we will shortly be scheduling surgery at a minimum course of treatment.

Mom is also is under care from her eye doctor for a laser treatment for glaucoma. (okay, and a bad tooth and so on and so on…it’s hard getting old)

Prayers are much needed for strength to get thru the next few appointments and find out what is the actual diagnosis and treatment actions.

I’ll keep you updated as more news unfolds,

Nan

(jen/tigg/aisling/jill: If you guys have a chance to drop in on the West Repo thread can you please post them a note on what is going on with me and let them know I’ll be back when I can)

Nanette R. Skjerven

Prayers and :grouphug: and pixie dust

Heather, Tigger1221 and hubby are staying at the Candy Cane Inn too. She is working on finding transport for us from the port.

That would be grateful if You find anything about transport for us too.

I will let you know if my friend Alison and David have book the Candy Cane Inn. I forgot ask them as they were talking me while ago on msn. I see them on Saturday.

Scottishwee35:thumbsup2

OH MY GOSH! That's SO cute! Yes, that not only made me smile, but made me laugh out loud! Thanks for the smile and laugh!

Glad to hear that you will have help. good vibes for the reading. Thanks, glad to have the help and glad to get everything started in probate. Mom made me and my bro co-execs to share everything 50/50 and that's easy and fair.

Do you have any siblings to help you? I know you have Bubba.

Does it every start getting real?

For me...it's the same as every time she went into the hospital and she'll be coming back...not much is different from that day to day. Now we're going to do the Will, now me and bro will clean out the house, OMG now everything changes. Now I start getting it and I'm terrified about how that's going to feel. I've mourned a little bit here and there, but the flood gates haven't opened yet and I know that's coming.

I had to stop by my aunties today to drop off some things and just seeing her made my day a litte harder to handle. Some times it just hits me out of nowhere. My auntie and my mom were best buddies always doing things together and looking out for each other. She says she is doing ok but I know that this has been very hard on her. I have been calling and checking on her as much as possible.

That's very good of you and when you miss mom, go be with your auntie so you can feel better together. I'm planning on being with some favorite family and friends on Turkey day out of town because I just can't be home. Tomorrow is mom and Ray's 21st Anniversary and I'm taking him to the moseleum...that's going to be hard too....I'm just taking one day at a time, any more than that right now is overwhelming.
:cloud9:  :cloud9:

hi guys & thanks for all the prayers and pixiedust:

mom's biopsy scheduled for morning 9/7/07, and my sister scheduled her eye surgery for afternoon 9/6/07. so.....I've called her doctor to figure it out for us. she can't do both of these so close. the eye surgery is under general anesthesia, so a bit more of a worry than I had thought. just hate it that we have to wait so long to get this stuff taken care of. kinda feel like we are in limbo.

other news, school is full swing. Molly joined the band. She is going to use my flute from hmmmmm many years ago  Molly is loving middle school and I'm getting used to it. I miss the interaction with parent friends, but I still get to see those friends when I pick up Wil. He is happy with his class(es) english and spanish. his english teacher is a Giants fan :woohoo: and his Spanish teacher a Dodger fan :scared1: should be for a fun year of :stir:

I see we have a few days off school in sept and oct, I might just have to plan a quickie DL trip to cheer myself up....

Happy Birthday to the Birthday girls :bday:

HollyTyler - Thanks for the Welcome
Deb - I have not booked a room yet but I am thinking the Radisson? I love Grills, we were there on our last trip in 05. Yes I am a Tink fan, it took me forever to figure out how to load a new avatar, thanks, I will PM you, with my info.
Aisling - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mum.

I saw something a few pages back about Mothers day being on CC. I lost my Mum Dec 22, 2001 and I would love to do something on that day and I am also Mum to 2 beautiful girls.

Can someone tell me why my smiles are not showing up??

Me too! I'm hoping the other board "Ship of Theives" will start humming soon. I get so lost, trying to catch up...I feel like Bobby Banana being bounced around in a crowd. (Just a looking for a reason to use a smiley.)

Thank you to those that passed on birthday wishes for me.

Had a great day. My daughter's simply made me feel wonderful. Shawn managed to add to my closet some. I will admit - I love clothes! The sad part is after opening my gifts, I fully realize that Shawn has more fashion sense than I do. He bought me a beautiful Sue Wong dress with a pair of Charles David shoes. I guess he does work in retail, but who would have thought . . . truly was floored. After almost 18 years, he still is able to surprise me.

After we had cake, our youngest Kayla, looks up at me and says, "Too bad you couldn't have as good a party as me"! She turns five on September 10th and has had the same birthday party the last two years. We are headed to the same destination for the the third year. http://www.partypop.com/Vendors/4075886.htm
I thought it was funny.

Anyway, best wishes to all.

Hi Deb,

I do the same...one day at a time. Some days are ok and others can be really hard. After seeing my aunt yesterday I was barely able to make it through the rest of the afternoon at work. When I got to DH work and knew that I did not have to keep a "stiff upper lip" the water works started.

Mom and I had the same doctor, who called me when she was notified. She told me that if I wanted she could perscribe something, but her best advice was "Just cry"
I was on vacation from work to day, but kept busy doing some power cleaning. So today was an ok day.

I do have two siblings. big brother and little brother. I have the task of handling her finances. They were both helpful when we had to make the arraingments and clean out her apartment. Now we are planning on what we want at her Life Celebration we will hold in October. Her birthday is Oct 10th and we wanted to have a celebration which would not be as somber and more of her siblings and their families would be able to attend. We are planning a BBQ at a local park. Mom loved BBQ. I want to do a butterfly release. My older brother and his family are making a photo display of her life.

 You will be in my thoughts tomorrow when you take Ray to the moseleum. I know it will be hard.

I'm glad you had a great birthday! :yay: Kayla's comment was too funny! :rotfl2: Tyler still just doesn't understand why adults don't want to have a party and pinata and goody bags, the whole shebang. Kids are funny!
