Happy Birthday Holly!
:cool1: party: :bday:
You deserve a GREAT birthday, hope it is wonderful!

My best friend's birthday was yesterday and my 50th is tomorrow, so the two of us are celebrating it together, today, on your birthday. I will just have to have an extra drink for you;)

Kathe

Hey DVCer's....

Guess I could pop over to the DVC discussion forum, but I am lazy:lmao: For those of you that own at resorts other than OKW, did you get a letter recently about extending the ownership for 15 more years? I just got one yesterday, but it only said OKW on it. Wasn't sure if it was a system wide extension of just OKW (which is where all of our points are). Any guesses on what that is going to cost? I would think they should just give it to us out of the kindness of their hearts:lmao: :rotfl2:

I own at ssr and okw and only got one for okw.

Congratulations and best beginnings to Alex!!!!

In the scheme of life, my gall bladder surgery seems to be small potatoes compared to some of the other life threatening illnesses others are suffering. I subscribe to the glass half full theory of life. As for the car, I was grateful that it broke down in a well traveled area with cell coverage.

And your glass half-full attitude helped with your winning at the slots to pay for the car, no doubt as well!

I'm sure will see you on here before your surgery, but all my best in that avenue as well.

Karen!!

!!

Thanks ever so much for your kind sentiments. You will see me until the surgery!!

Thank you Holly!

Hope you have a wonderful birthday also. My brother's birthday is the same as yours! He is in Afghanistan so I can't even call him.

Still today in your time zone...

Happy Birthday!! party: :bday: party:

Hope you had a great day!

Holly, you will love this story. Youngest DD, Samantha just came in and plopped on my bed to say, "Ok, as much as I hate to admit it, you are right."
Music to this mother's ears.

She said, "You were right about Crystal (her high school), you were right about USD (her University), you were right about Oliver (ex boyfriend) and now as much as I hate to admit it, you are right, I am going to go to law school. I want to do this internship for next few months and then I am going to start studying for the LSAT while I work part time. Every job I look at bores me and for what I want to do, I need a law degree. Ok, Mom, you can say, I told you so."

I didn't tell her I told you so but what I did tell her is that I was proud of her for coming to her own conclusions.

Your DD's decisions and the way that she presented it to you is a wonderful reflection of how well you have raised her!

It takes big shoulders and a good sense of self to admit that someone else may have been right!!

I hope that my DD grows up with as much confidence and humility!!

Karen

Congratulations!

A bit of trivia: Did you know that coat length is a sign of seniority?

Woody

I did not know that!

I love learning new things everyday! And I usually learn them here on the DIS!!

Thanks for the kind thoughts as well, Woody. DH is at the shop again (10:45 pm) trying to get things up and running.

I feel so bad. I just haven't been able to keep up, just popping in here and there. I am going to try to catch up...
I know good wishes are due that Deb is home from the hospital.
Holly, you son sounds like he is really going through a hard time. Good luck and happy birthday!
Noel still has the answers for everything - got to love that (riddle/song/center of the US). Best wishes for your upcoming surgery in Sept.
John, love your awesome photos - how proud you must be. That white coat means so much.
Woody, great trivia about the coat jackets - having worked in hospitals for many years, I never knew that!
Karen, hope your website is up and all is well - I will check it out! My sister, Annie, drank some of her Annie's Lane the other night and loved it!
Liserann, those boys are so cute! Hope your Mom is doing better with the whole Greece situation.
Kim, can't believe you are PTA president! What a big job! Very impressed. I could never do it.
Gydell....heres some :wizard: pixie dust that the tag fairy gets you!
Kaylee, I'm like BB this year...but I am easy to please! Nothing can compare to Dr. Evil.
Cheri - LOVE Wicked! My one son looks at the program all the time.
Venetia, PJ, Tigger1221, Peggy Jo, Jan, Threebritts, the many Lisas (Happy Birthday next week (50th!) to Disneylover Lisa, Marilyn, Monica, lillygator, Scottishwee, Tigger 137, ibouncetoo, Ginamarie, shout hello! I've only gone back two days so that is all who I have seen post in the past two days. Boy, do I have a lot of catching up!

Life has been great, boys started school on Monday and love it. Work is extremely busy but I love it. So looking forward to this trip! We decided to also take a trip for our 15th Anniversary - we are planning on going to Aspen to go skiing. We haven't skiied in years so this will be great. Got to go to bed! Good night, Lisa

Hello cruisers,
I have been asked to give you a message from your friend Nan (nskjerven):

Hello dear friends:

I’ve just come home from a morning mammogram/ultra sound appointment with my mom. My mom has been diagnosed with a breast mass (or 2) and I’m the point person to work with her doctors on getting a biopsy (with in the next few days).

It’s not looking good and I expect that we will shortly be scheduling surgery at a minimum course of treatment.

Mom is also is under care from her eye doctor for a laser treatment for glaucoma. (okay, and a bad tooth and so on and so on…it’s hard getting old)

Prayers are much needed for strength to get thru the next few appointments and find out what is the actual diagnosis and treatment actions.

I’ll keep you updated as more news unfolds,

Nan

(jen/tigg/aisling/jill: If you guys have a chance to drop in on the West Repo thread can you please post them a note on what is going on with me and let them know I’ll be back when I can)

:rotfl: DrHug just got an email from our sweet DD about a SURPRISE 40th anniversary bash for us. OOPS! She forgot to delete Dad from her email group. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: So, I RSVP'd and told her we would be coming. :rotfl2: She was upset with herself at first, but we have talked and I have assured her that it is FINE not to be a surprise and that we will still be surprised by what "events" they come up with. ;)

My friend was planning her parents' 50 surprise anniversary party and somehow it got out. The mom was relieved, and wanted her daughter to keep it a surprise. That way, if they didn't invite someone she couldn't be blamed! Lisa

All went very well at both doctor's appointments. Everything is A-OK and my colonoscopy is scheduled for January 11, 2008 as has to be at least 8 weeks after surgery!! I got the new DPT booster as I needed at tetanus shot. Anyone have one of those yet?

Glad to hear all is going well. I had no idea we were starting to give pertussis vaccines to adults again. When I gave vaccinations, I just did the DT without the P.

We did not get anything Kaylee. We own VB, BCV, and SSR.
Don't the original resort points end in 2042? I will be 82 then, not sure if I want to keep them until I am 97, but who knows?:confused3

I understand that OKW is a trial and they will see how it goes. I did read a thread on it on the DVC board and it got confusing, so I decided I'd just wait and see what disney says when all is done after the meetings in september.

Well, today was the first day of school for Sophia . . .

She looks so happy and proud of her backpack! Does her doll have the matching one with the mini cell phone?:lmao:

And Alex's White Coat Ceremony, first step in the four year long road to becoming a physician.

Great pictures John. You must be very proud. Alex certainly looks very handsome and happy. Best of luck to him in his training......

Congratulations!

I didn't know that either. Hmmm, very interesting!

Nan...if you happen to peak in on the boards, our thoughts are with you and your mom. Take care!

Karen...how's the website coming? Any better?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOLLY.

I want a tag too.

DH is looking into renting something, it would be around $12 for 9 people.
I have written down names of others and was going to look it up. I will do this soon, I started school this week,

I think it is only us at the Candy Cane Inn at the moment.

Glad the tests went well Noel.

She must have looked so cute! I usually see lots of adorable little princesses on formal night on the cruise too.

I love to see the little girls all dressed up - particularly those who have been Bibbity Bobbitied.:cutie:

Way to go Samantha!!! We had something similar with one of our son's. Sometimes they just have to have time to work things out for themselves, but how frustrating it can be for us parents.
No, and I wondered why the coats looked so dog gone short! I thought maybe they got a deal on short coats!

We've never been, but the ad on TV say sthere will be a costume contest for the llamas, an obstacle course to watch the llamas run through and all kinds of other cute stuff to see. :goodvibes

Llamas are so cute!

As far as I remember this was a jump rope rhyme that came from New England.

Here are a couple more:
Gypsy, Gypsy please tell me
What my fortune's going to be
Rich-man, Poor-man, Beggar-man, Thief.
Doc-tor, Law-yer, In-di-an Chief.
Tink-er, Tail-or, Cow-boy, Sail-or.

Continue repeating until jumper misses and that is who you will marry.

Strawberry shortcake
Huckleberry pie
who's gonna be your lucky guy
a,b,c,d,e,f,g ect. until the jumper trips

Engine, engine number 9.

Running down Chicago line.

If the train should jump the track,

do you want your money back?

The person to whom you are pointing when you say "back" answers either "yes" or "no. You will then spell out the answer: "y-e-s spells yes and you are out" or "n-o spells no and you are out".

This rhyme was for beginners who could not jump in while the rope was swinging over and over

(Swing the rope back and forth, not over)

Blue bells, cockle shell

Easy ivy over

(swing rope over head on over and continue in normal rope swing)

(We always sang it with the following rhyme but it can beused with any)

Oh no, here comes Miss Blackwell

with her big black stick

Now its time for arithmetic

One plus one is?

(jumper responds) Two

Two plus two is?

(jumper responds) Four

Four plus four is?

(jumper responds) Eight

Eight plus eight is?

(jumper responds) Sixteen

Nows its time for spelling

Spell cat.

(jumper responds) C-A-T

Spell dog.

(jumper responds) D-O-G

Spell hot.

(jumper responds) H-O-T

(when the jumper finishes spelling HOT swing the rope as fast as

possible till they mess up.)

No, don't know this one.

Oh Nan, thoughts and prayers are with you as you help your mom through this.

John - wonderful pictures of your family. You must be so proud of both your children. Once the medics get their white coats on they really look the part - however short the coats are! Sophia looks just lovely and I bet she was so excited.

Hey everyone,

Well our website is still down, but DH has had some luck with some of it and he thinks he can resolve the issues tomorrow night.

DD and I are heading up to Bodega Bay tomorrow after she is out of school, her school district has a four day holiday weekend.

First couple of days off in a row since May in DL! Wasn't sure we could go with all of the system issues, but I went through our work around for our admin system with my two fill in helpers and I think that all will be ok. DH will come up on Friday afternoon.

We went through TONS of DD's clothes this past week and we have many items that are Disney related as well as some American Girl items that we are going to try to get rid of. I have never sold anything on Ebay or Craig's list, so I would be open to some pointers. OR... if any of you are interested, I will get some pics taken and post the items after we get back from Bodega next week. Some of the items are evening wear that would probably be good for the cruise and formal night. Tink beach wear (Sorry Deb, not in your size!)

Anyhoo, let me know of any interest. I will catalog the items and sizes when we get back home.

Thanks for all the good wishes on our website issues. I hope all will be well by tomorrow night.

I'll post from Bodega...

Karen

PS - does anyone know why a digital camera would have a dark viewer and only take dark shots. We can still view previousely taken pictures and they look fine. It is a Pentax Optio S7.
