And how are the grapes doing?
very well!! I took a picture to post just haven't uploaded it. I figure I'll add it with the Disney ones this week!

DD has watched it every day since it came out! I've only caught the whole thing once. Thought it was good, but a bit cheesy!! (But I love Cheesy!!)

The baseball scene is excellent!

I got her the soundtrack as a back to school gift. Can't beleive she starts school tomorrow!

Karen
Yes, we've watched it almost every day as well. I keep singing the songs! Yikes!

Well you guys were chatty last night. Deb glad to see you posting!!

Well today is my last day of work before we leave. I have to go to the hospital in the am for a class that I can't miss and then we will head to Orlando after that! Exciting stuff!

Haley is doing well with the potty training although, she wants to go every five minutes and I don't think our toilet has ever been flushed so much. We are going to try and finish up Samantha's letter C tonight so the school at least has that - she has come up with quite the creative letter....coconuts, Captain Jack Sparrow, candles...all so easy to glue onto cardboard!

My new boss starts today, but is in orientation. So I'll miss his whole first week, oh well. My plans were already set!

Hi Jan, Hi Karen, Hi Marilyn, Hi V.....yes, I'm back posting....still in the hospital though....but feeling much better and posting again.

They said I could go home either tomorrow or Wednesday....I hope it's tomorrow.

I'm actually starting to feel like a real person again. Now I want to go on a trip....I was reading about V going to Mickey's World and I thought....gee, it might be nice to just get away from it all after this experience...Mickey's sounds good, I would like to go there.

But Alas, I do have to wait another 2 months....then I do cruise and world and I cannot wait until the day we leave coz I need it bad.

OK, what else is going on in everybody else's lives??????

Karen, Did you get that computer up and running yet?

John1, Have you had any time yet to develop the 'be your own boss' job?

Cheri, How is the reunion coming along?

Kaylee, Did you have a good time at yours?

Heather, What shifts do you work after all the 12 hour nights?

Holly, You're still the best mom ever!!! And I'm NOT selling my Turtle sandbox!

Marilyn, I don't think I like smashed peas, but I do like fish and chips!

Ginamarie, Nice to have your family back, did they have a good time?

I'm doing a miniDISmeet with Lucy and Bob this next month....I asked to make it towards the end of the month, not the first week. When they came to see me here in the hospital, all we could talk about was Mickey, Mickey, Mickey! Amazing how one little mouse can affect your life so greatly. Especially since the one little mouse gave me my whole DIS family. Now that's one powerful little mouse!
:cheer2: :flower3: :cheer2:

Hi Deb. so glad that you are feeling better.:) I hope you get home tomorrow - it is so much better in your own surroundings. I wish I could get over to see you, but we will have to wait till next May. Can you imagine what it is going to be like at the terminal?

I love the mushy peas, but only manage to eat them a couple of times a year. On bonfire night, November 5th, pie(meat) and mushy peas with mint sauce(vinegar, chopped mint and a little sugar) is a bit of a tradition, together with baked potatoes(jacket potatoes) and bonfire toffee - lovely chewy caramel.

Where I was born we had black peas, made from dried brown peas in a similar fashion!!! It did not look nice, but I loved it.

so today will be a full day for me. Have to stop at Publix for snacks and cooler necessities and gas up the car. Last minute laundry and packing and then have everything ready this evening. John is off tomorrow so I think he and the girls can sleep in while I go to my meeting and hopefully I will get out early! :)

Made it though page 1593..ran out of time to catch the last four pages before work...I'll sneak on at lunchtime!

DEB! So glad to hear things are imporving and they got the meds worked out. We missed you on here, babe! :thumbsup2

I am convinced there is a sock fairy who is in charge of taking one sock per load!!

This fairy turns those socks into wire coathangers!

Jackie, what/where is this place? I'd like to try it!
Are these really overcooked or smashed up green peas???? eewwww! Translastion needed, please!

I'm going to be down in the valley for a few days after my reunion (Sept. 17-19) Could we plan something then?

It's by my house, so north central Phoenix.

For SURE we should shoot for a mid-Sept gathering!

. Hope everyone has a nice end-of-the-weekend. Of course for us retired folks, the weekend never ends! (Sorry, couldn't resist!):rolleyes1

Man....I am soooooo jealous about that!

OK...time to hit the shower!

Ya know, it's getting closer and closer...I can't wait until we meet in the terminal...it's going to be fabulous!!!! Should we get nametags with our DISer names so we know each other????? We're going to be an awefully large group!!!!

I love the traditional foods that we grow up on that others would probably have to acquire a taste for, but we just love them!!! I have many Greek foods like that, basically, peasant recipes that mom would make like spinach and rice with lemon all over it or escarole and lamb with lemon all over it and stuffed grapevine leaves with egg and lemon sauce....so many good ones and they're all my favorite!

Where I was born we had black peas, made from dried brown peas in a similar fashion!!! It did not look nice, but I loved it.

Olivia does this too.. I think she just likes to sit there sometimes. She's especially fond of our upstairs bathroom because it has a Finding Nemo theme.

Ginamarie, Nice to have your family back, did they have a good time?

:cheer2: :flower3: :cheer2:

Yes! Gillian loved the University of Michigan, though she'll need a scholarship to go there! Mom did plenty of shopping.

OK, we're leaving for work in about 5 minutes! I'll try to catch up with everyone again tonight, because otherwise I'll be 20 pages behind again!

Wow....the Dietician just came in and asked me what I wanted to eat for my next 3 meals....I want to take this lady home with me. The choices were hard to select and the food, for hospital food, is good. They keep you balanced and at 2000 calories each day. I need her at home. I love when somebody asks me what I want and just brings it to me....how much better does it get than that!

Of course, I told her I hoped to be home tomorrow, but we'll see.
:rolleyes1  :rolleyes1

So Marilyn, what are we doing today....more abs, going for a walk....how is your weather today?

Don't you miss Angel? I'm so glad she didn't cancel her trip at the beginning of November. I'm meeting her at Downtown Disney in Paradise Island on Friday November 1st. Even if we can't do this cruise together, at least we'll get to meet and who knows what could happen from there. Is anyone else going to be in the neighborhood and want to join us....we will be toasting champagne!!!! After all, Angel is the Original champagne girl!:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I imagine that is what it is like to be rich - just having what you want to eat without cooking it!

Someone wanted to know about the other Panama Canal book I bought. Is it Gydell?

Anyway it is

The Building of the Panama Canal in Historic Photographs, by Ulrich Keller.

I also picked up at the same time as I was getting them from Amazon and it took me into the free shipping

The Panama Canal by Cruise Ship, by Anna Vipond.

This was more what it says, and quite informative about ports etc as well as the canal. There is a handy pull out map of the locks with cross section of the whole length of the canal showing depths etc.

Deb that sounds great...as far as telling and getting what you want....!

I can't believe it is almost 11! Wow. This morning is flying by. I am sure the night will for me as well, as I have a lot to do. I would like to get the girls room cleaned and have something easy for supper tonight. When I cleaned out the fridge I did everything, it's pretty bare now!

Quiet day here as it is a public holiday here. Gym is closed( ), but we went for a longish walk and had a Starbucks coffee. I also had a Cinnamon whirl, so it reminded me of Florida!!! John is gardening and I have pottered with washing etc. Watched a little of Planet of the Apes which has just been on tv.

I'm glad you are meeting Mandy. I wish I was going to be there too.

I can only imagine how many pages I will have to catch up on on Sunday night! Go easy on my guys!

John1, I can't help thinking about you and your mom....she had cellulitis, so did I, and if she had just gone to the hospital early on, like I did, and had the surgery, like I did, and gotten on the right antibiotics, like I finally did, she could be here with you today. Instead, she was a typical strong, stubborn Greek woman, like my mom and me, and she didn't go to take care of it. My mom's grandfather had lost his legs and then his life when my mom was a child. She talked about him every day of her life coz she loved him so much. I think he had the same kind of problem with his legs.

What is it with Greek men and women who get these leg infections and then don't do anything about it. I know I was hesitant to face the doctors and the hospital, because I know how I have a hard time dealing with medical stuff, but I always intended to go. It makes me wonder if my mom had properly taken care of herself medically, would she still be here today?

Sometimes I think strong and stubborn are traits that you naturally inherit if you are Greek....it's part of the territory.
:hourglass :coffee: :hourglass

Monica,

We have a couple of good ones also. the Renacer Malbec from Argentina is very nice, relatively inexpensive and not quite as heavy as some Malbec's. The deLormier Malbec that we carry is from Alexander Valley (California) and is just really lovely! We also have an amazing Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina that is made by a winemaker from California named Guy Davis. His Davis Family Wines are all fantastic and his "other" label is called Gusto. This label has the Malbec and a great Marlborough, NZ, Sauvignon Blanc.

I know, I know, way too much information!

Karen

NOT too much info!! Good to know! Will keep these in mind. I don't know the label that my parents usually drink...I know it isn't Norton's, but I know about Norton's so at least I knew I'd get a good wine!

Wow Marilyn, that sounds so neat...you are definitely the most researched person of all of us, you are ready and prepared and if we have any questions, we're coming to you for the answers!!!

I love Amazon too. I'm always just a click away from buying them out.

ps...I love the cockney slang too. You can do both for us because we want to see the differences in how the language evolved. Facinating Stuff, I think!:cutie: :thumbsup2 :cutie:

Now Marilyn, don't be embarresed, but I'm going to tell the inquiring minds that want to know....exactly what you wrote on the boards the last time we had a language intervention.

OK guys, Marilyn wanted to express that I keep my spirits up and the terminology that she used was to keep my.....

peter piper had a BLANK of pickled peppers....

to keep my BLANK of pickled peppers up!!!!! ok, get it now! It was hystericaly funny because there was no pun intended, it was purely innocent.

So Marilyn, there is nothing to be embarrased about...it was funny and sweet and we all love the difference in the cockney slang....we will have a lot of fun at high tea and our lessons!!!!!:teacher:  :teacher:
