I know where you mean even if the filter blocked it!! That is a fair bit south of us, but yes the country is nice. Durham is further north but we have never been. We really should!

We are actually in Harrogate, just a few miles from York. York is one of my favourite places, but since we moved here 6 years ago we have only been once!:confused3 I think it is because Harrogate is so nice.

Do you come over here on vacation? Do you have family? Most Americans don't get up this far - just pass through from London, Stratford on Avon and then up to Edinburgh!! We have some beautiful scenery.

We have some very good friends who live in Glenfield and another close family who lived in Dunstable. We come over there and they come over here all the time. (actually it's easier for them, because of the dollar to the pound) We have taken several trips through the countryside. We've been to Harrogate.

Now the family who lived in Dunstable have moved to Devon. We went there last year. It's beautiful too. Lots of places to walk.

I'll tell you a funny story....until we started coming over with a long list of places we wanted to visit, our friends hardly ever visited their own country. Now they do it all the time, and they are making lists for US!:)
Connie

Thanks Bubba...I checked it out and it's awesome, you can even hear the natural sounds with the picture. I'm going to pass it around to some friends. So cool, I love it!!!!
 :thumbsup2

Wait till you actually see something, you won't be able to turn it off.popcorn:: Ill post the link to the "forum" part later, where people post their pictures, videos and observations. There's actually a lady (Karin) who works at the lodge that is the best camera operater. She posts every once in a while to give you the scoop on whats going on in the "bush" around the lodge such as lions in the area ,if they've made a "kill" etc. Seriously, it"s very addicting!:thumbsup2 Yes, I said kill. This is nature, so every once in a while you see the brutal but necessary side of nature as well as the "look how cute" side.

. . . We'll be on the 10/28/07. . . missed you by a week or so.
Take care of the ship for us.

. . . A waste of a day I know, but it saves us using a shuttle up from London (and a long wait at Heathrow Airport) which we would have to do if we fly back from LA.
We were at Heathrow last month. They are very strict about carry-on bags.

oh, heavens above! Did you see that the DISBOARDS automatically put astericks in the town name.
Big brother is watching!

Ever since your post I have been unable to respond because I'm addicted to seeing any life on this webcam. I can hear crunching etc - but haven't seen anything yet!!!
"Patience, Luke. Use the Force."

So funny, I was sitting here eating popcorn at work when I read this!!!
I want a job like yours!

Woody

Morning Bubba!! I'll have to check out the webcam tonight. (And I'm the one who sets up our computer too!)

O.K., but don't blame me when the chores don't get done, and you start staying up WAY to late just waiting for something to walk by!:rotfl2:

Hey TiggersPal, what's up? I wasn't thinking straight when I posted this website. I feel like a drug pusher or something, got ya all hooked now!:rotfl2: A lot of that rustling you hear right now is probably some kind of insect that is right next to the mic, as it is SUPER sensitive. Don't worry you'll figure it out pretty quickly once you start reading the forum part of this site and they splain it to ya! Before ya know it you will be able to recognize the different animal calls and stuff like that. The Hyenas are really erie sounding!:scared: You can make the picture small and down in the corner of the screen so that you can still DIS and pop it back up when there's some action!

Noel - Hope you feel better!!!

Bubba - I'm convinced that you have this little model sitting in your office that appears to be the African watering hole, I hear things but have YET to see an animal!

It's been hours and I think you have me tricked into thinking this is really a cam in Africa!:happytv: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rolleyes1

Oh please, let me see an anmial soon.:cheer2:
Now would i do that?:rolleyes1

Here's the link to the Africam forum page:

Scroll down to "watering hole" and click on it to read whats going on right now. The other links are self explanatory. Have fun and ask any questions and I'll answer if I can.The pictures and videos are awesome!:thumbsup2Oh ya you click on Nkorho chat with todays date once your on the watering hole link. Postings from Karin is also a must read, as she works at the lodge and helps run the camera.

What:confused3 ....I say limit the non important stuff like socks and undies rather than shoes:lmao: :rotfl2: !!! Uhoh, here comes the "shoes" talk again John!! Seriously though, I will have 1 suitcase just for shoes, already bought it just to give Scott a year to get used to the idea:rotfl:

Just for shoes? . . .

I am bummed. Was having a problem with my Macbook which I thought was obviously a defective battery. Well, when I went to the genius bar(at the Apple store 45 mins away) they told me they would have to keep it to duplicate the problem - bummer. So now I am on my old 12" Powerbook, that is the computer Amy usually uses.

We also got Alex his new laptop he wanted for next school year - a new 15" Macbook Pro, so I am even more bummed and feeling the envy.

Just wanted to say 'hi' to you all and thanks to everyone for their messages of concern and sympathy. It's lovely to feel you have so many friends...even ones so far away. Thanks especially to Maz, Deb, Karen & Carolyn for all your kind words...and to John for the great e-card!

I promise I'll try and get my 'sparkle' back soon Deb!

I can't even attempt to read back all those pages but I hope everyone is doing well.

xxx:grouphug:

Mandy,

So good to see your avatar again!! I have really missed you in the wee hours of the morning!!!

I hope that all is "brighter" in your world and we look forward to hearing from you more as tie goes by...

Karen

Thanks Marilyn.
I'm trying to stay positive today....doesn't help that I managed to fall all the way down the stairs on Friday (tripped over the wretched cat in the middle of the night!)!!!! So now I have lots of bruises to add to the rest of my woes...and a very sore butt!

Thank heaven you didn't break anything!

Do you have Epsom salts in England? That so helps with achey bruises and joints!

Take care of yourself!!

Karen

O.K., but don't blame me when the chores don't get done, and you start staying up WAY to late just waiting for something to walk by!:rotfl2:

Umm the chores don't get done most nights - this will give me the excuse I need!! :surfweb:

I saw a deer already drinking - it was there as soon as I clicked on the link!!

Don't you ever wish you could control it so you can follow the animals as they go out of view!!!???!!

Hi Lisa! During the day the camera is manned, so it does follow the animals. If the animal you saw looked like a deer, it was probably an Impala. Sunrise is just starting. Can you see the lightness change? Soon ater the sun rises, the camera will change to color. When did you see this "deer"?

It was visible while I was posting before - so I think about 8:35 or so.

(I was wondering if it was a "Tommy" like in AK)

OOO - it's going to color now.
