Hi everyone! I haven't posted in ages. Haven't even been lurking. DH and I just got back from our DCL land/sea last week. Our next DCL cruise will be the 9/29/07 Eastern. I am sure that I will be following this thread more closely after our next cruise. I really need to get off of dial up to speed my computer up. I am such a procrastinater. We are definitely still going on the PC repo and looking forward to it.:woohoo:

Donna

Hello Donna. I just read your post to me on the other thread and then found you here too. Great. Let's stay connected.

We're heading to POC tomorrow. My family has doubled in size for the weekend. Our dear friends and neighbors went out of town for the weekend for their 20th wedding anniversary, and I'm keeping their two youngest kids. So I've gone from 2 kids to 4. And of course, DH headed out of town this week, so it's just me. I actually feel very honored to have the kids because my friend has NEVER spent a night away from her four children except when she was in the hospital having her babies.

I've been wondering about our MexicanMousketeer friend, too. Julie, where are you??

I thought I saw the mm user name on the theme parks section and another section this past month...was she taking a trip to WDW recently?

That reminds me...did I mention that I experience WDW @*&# this last trip? I got stuck on IASW:scared1: Now, I enjoy that ride once a trip since DD's love it so much, but I don't love it by any means. I got stuck in the area right before the rain forest for 15 minutes.....the girls and I were alone on a boat (which was cool at first). Not an experience I wish to repeat....

Oh my . . . I can't get the song out of my head on a normal ride - what would happen if stuck in there for 15 more minutes?????

(need a smiley with a straitjacket)

Love Love Love Don Pablo's!!

When I was pregnant with Gretchen (the youngest) it was the only food I did not throw up......I went there every day!! Still love it

We like it a lot too, but I eat so many chips I feel like a stuffed Pinata when we leave.

.......The big event is a surprise ceremony for my father at Hill AFB. Dad was the last person to fly the X-15 (if anyone knows what that is - if interested - google Dana/X-15 and there he is in all his glory) and someone has planned something in regards to an anniversary of some sort. Should be nice though. Wow . . . . rambling . . . . . . . . .

Have a good night.

Pirates Primer?? WHERE?
I have a friend who has put together some cookbooks. One is WINOS and the other is WINOS LOVE CHOCOLATE (or something like that--recipes that use or go well with wine and chocolate). WINOS stands for Women In Need Of Sanity. they are pretty neat. She sells them for $20 each. I need to find out if she has a website.
Jan :earsgirl:

Jan,

Let us know if she would like to have them in our wine shop!

Hi everyone, hi sweetie, I see you're skulking again....

Well hopefully our little family fiasco is over for now.....This time it was not my mother, but John's grandson Tom who turned 16 last month. He somehow thinks he's now a grown adult and should be treated as such.

Tom decided that he no longer wanted to live at home. He wanted to live with us or become emancipated. So we let him sleep over one night and then called for an intervention at his house last night. We were there for almost five hours. We asked him, Tom, what would make you happy. We want you to be happy. He said no more grounding punishments and his parents spending more time (and attention) with him. His parents pointed out all the times that they went out to dinner, took hikes, played ball, played video games, etc., together. They also told him that there would be consequences, ie, he would be grounded, when he deserved it. We told him if he lived with us it would be the same way. There would always be rules and chores and responsibilities and consequences if deserved. At the end of the evening, everyone hugged and cried and he stayed home.

TEENS, I hate this age. They magnify every little thing and think that they're now adults. Tom, unlike his independent younger brother, is extremely sensitive, insecure and needs lots of attention. Despite the fact that his mom is remarried and Joe is a great dad to him, Tom still feels the loss of his own father abandoning him when he was just a baby. His mom, Sandi, has always been aware of this and has overcompensated him by getting him involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, boy scouts, football, band, working with our neighbor Mike and all his animals. He's always had Pops and Uncle John in his life and now Joe. It's never been enough for Tom.

He's doing well in school, so that's not an issue. He just wants more play time, no responsibilities and no consequences. Don't we all!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with a troubled teen...please enlighten us. We could use the help.
:confused3 :sad2: :confused3

Hi Deb,

Still catching up from working non-stop for almost 2 weeks! I hope to be caught up soon!:thumbsup2

I am so sorry for your teen troubles, and I am also sorry that I don't have any insight as we are just at the beginning of some interesting issues ourselves.:rolleyes1

There are always people in our lives with "issues". Doesn't seem to matter how much "everything" that they already have, they just need MOREl.

I think that your handling of the situation was perfect, and that he is very lucky to have you both close enough that he feels comfortable enough to come to you instead of going "elsewhere" and probably scaring his folks to death.

Best of luck with it all and Happy Birthday again to John!!:cheer2:
