Hello

Glasgow is a great place and very friendly people there and I have a friend who live there. I often meet her at Glasgow for lunch or stay overnight. Last year at Disney Wonder Cruise I met staff I cannot remember her name, she is working in duty free, she come from Glasgow. She was delighted to see another Scottish!!

Sara, my cousin orginally came from the UK. She married Stuart who was from Glasgow in 1983 and they have three children. Last I hear, he is with the Strathclyde Police.

Grumpy John here just wanted to let folks know that I'm skulking about and that Deb has been checking in bu not posting much.
We are having some family issues to deal with and I'm sure that she will be back soon. see you later
  :confused3

Tell Deb we miss her and hope all will be well soon with your family.

My internet provider blocks that site!!! I guess I am just going to have to imagine!!

I googled and then goggled! I never knew about that. They are cycling in a few cities here too. It did look a little uncomfortable I must say!

Those of you planning on staying on a few days at DL after the cruise, where are you hoping to stay?

If we do decide on this option, it won't be the onsite hotels but somewhere in walking distance - not too expensive as it is Memorial Day weekend. Went on Tripadvisor and noticed Candy Cane Inn and Hojo. I think the Eastbound have been phoning to book Hojo already!!!

Any recommendations?

I usually stay on-site but last time I tried Anaheim Inn I think it is called. It was right across the street and had an indoor pool. It was O.K. I guess a place to put your head on. I have heard good things about Candy Cane Inn and Hojo.

Oh I would love to stay onsite, but we are having 2/3 days at WDW before the cruise to make sure we arrive ok for the cruise - I worry about flights being cancelled etc! Then of course the flights over are expensive. John is beginning to clamp down a little on extra spends!! He says he is going to eat so much on the last 2 cruise days that he won't need anything for a few days back on land!!!:rotfl:

I know what you mean. It is a holiday weekend so the prices will be higher also. I would book something as soon as you can.

Personally, I like the Candy Cane Inn over Hojo--I've stayed both places. Free shuttle at CCI, but an easy walk, too. Hojo uses the Anaheim transportation, and the last I heard, they were the last stop so took longer. But, Hojo has Mimi's cafe across the street--in case the cruise food starts wearing off more quickly than you were planning!

I agree...Candy Cane Inn is the place to stay at!

Lisa (Calmom), I just wanted to share a story about children in first class on an airline. When Samantha was two, she and I were flying first class on United to Florida to catch the Big Red Boat. Her dad was meeting us there as he was already in Florida on business.

After we were seated and Sam was "plugged" in to her headset and her Sony video of Lady and the Tramp, a couple boarded the plane. Since they were seated next to us, the woman loudly exclaimed, "Good grief, I AM NOT flying first class with a toddler to Florida. We just got in from Hong Kong and I AM NOT going to listen to a whining brat for 6 hours!!"

I was appalled!! The flight attendant politely suggested to the couple that if they felt so strongly they might want to change to another flight. The women loudly suggested we should be removed because clearly we must be on a "pass". The flight attendant tactfully informed the women since we were full fare paying passengers and she and DH were on an upgrade only, we would not be asked to leave the plane.

After calling the flight attendant a very rude name and demanded to see the captain, her DH joined the fray asking that DD and I be removed. The captain came out of the cockpit, was told the situation and informed the couple Sam and I would not be asked to leave. After a few more choice words, the couple disembarked to the applause of the other passengers.

Samantha and I had wonderful service and the rest of the passengers were very nice to us on the remainder of the flight.

Sorry I know that I'm a little behind but this was unbelievable! Some people are really amazingly rude.

Also wanted to say that we sailed on the Big Red Boat when DS was 5 -- he had a great time and didn't want to come out of the club!

Our only plane story involves a flight last year on Southwest. One of the passengers got on late and she was trying to stuff her oversize carryon up in the overhead bin. Well it wasn't going to fit because other carryons were already there. Another passenger said that she'd have to find another bin but this lady kept pushing her bag in -- she finally pushed her bag so hard that another bag popped out and came flying down -- it only missed hitting someone because someone else across the way stuck out his hand to catch the bag. The person who's bag it was that came flying down stood up at that point and got the stewardess. The pushy lady kept insisting her bag was going to fit in that overhead bin and got really heated about the entire matter - one of the stewards went to the captain and she was called out of the plane. Unfortunately she did get to continue flying and they found a spot for her bag -- personally I would have kicked her off the flight or put her bag in the underneath compartment so that she'd have to wait to get it at the end of the flight.

Glad you guys are safe and sound. See ya in 11 months!:thumbsup2

Hey Bubba! Are you sure I can't get you to join us at the WINE meet? Even if I bring a flask of tequilla???

It was great meeting you and the lovely Mrs. Bubba! Sorry we were so far away from y'all! I missed talking to so many folks~!

Thanks Lisa - for setting up the meet and NOT posting the "ugly" photos.

More to catch up on and more postings to come~

I agree...Candy Cane Inn is the place to stay at!

I agree - love being able to walk to the park and can't do GC anymore, unless we share with several gal pals...

Too bad we didn't get site of Johnny at the GC - I was praying!

Notsolittle Mermaid has some great photos of the red carpet and I know she'll post when she gets home and settled!

THANKS - EVERYONE! Jackie and I had a lovely visit with folks, but were sad we didn't get a chance to say "hello" to everyone! I would have loved an opportunity to visit with everyone. So little time, so many great people.:grouphug:

I was dog tired by the time we got to the meet (notice the bad hair?) :rotfl: :rotfl2: the weather was perfect for me though, I was loving not having the sun to deal with and some cooler temps!

I'm glad everyone made it home safe and sound.

I'm looking forward to the wine meet next!

I can't wait for our cruise!pirate:

Gosh! That surprises me that she wasn't kicked off, esp post 9/11.

I haven't had rude people experiences, only experiences where I thought that we wouldn't make it back safely on the ground. The worst was flying China Airlines in the 1980s in a thunder storm, dodging lightning (no overhead storage bins, flight attendants walking up and down the aisles during takeoff and landing, smoking everywhere and no a/c--they passed out fans). Landing was a nosedive--we were literally on the ground within a few minutes.

I would love to see your hair on a "good" hair day! It looked great to me--in fact, I love the pic I took of you and Jackie on the patio before the meet. I'm glad we had those few minutes to chat!

Those were good photos! I'm glad we had time too, cuz once we got seated - we didn't get another chance to visit. I kept thinking - Where do I know her from???? Your son even looked familiar to me. I guess that happens - from time to time doesn't it? Are you planning on going to the wine meet? It will be great to see you again, and visit more! Thanks so much for sharing the photos! Neither sis or myself brought a camera! :confused3
