I agree about this group...I just can't believe that I have to wait over 300 days to meet everyone:sad2: I can only imagine what that first meeting will look like....a reunion of old friends of sorts!

We are spending mother's day at WDW....I am so excited:woohoo: Having brunch at Boma after hearing people's great reports of it! Are you doing anything special at DL for mother's day Karen?

Good luck on the Grand Opening! You must be getting so excited (and nervous).

Kaylee,

So excited for you!!

We are going to Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney for Mother's day! We have wanted to try this restaurant for a while, I have been to the Brennan's in Houston, but not in New Orleans or California.

We are also having dinner at Napa Rose on Wednesday night and are enjoying a winemaker dinner, as part of the food and wine festival, at Steakhouse 55 (former Grandville's) at Disneyland Hotel. We will probably try the Golden Vine as well in Cal Adventure.

DH is also doing a Chef event at the Napa Rose on Saturday!! Very exciting for him!! DD and I are going in to DL early to get a special set of limited release pins and then to a Character breakfast at the Plaza Inn.

Those are the "only" preset plans so far! (Can you tell I'm a planner?)

Have a great trip!!

Karen

Karen...sounds like some great plans! I am excited to hear what you think of the Food & Wine at DL. We love it at Epcot but aren't going to make it there for a few years:sad2:

I only have 4 ADR's for this trip....Chef Mickey's at night in time for Wishes (never done this either), Boma's for mother's day brunch, Bongo's for our first night and then Hoop de doo Revue for our last night (my DD's favorite place to eat (and the sangria isn't bad either:thumbsup2 ). Otherwise, it will be lots of sun and relaxation. DH is playing 4 rounds of golf (we are going with friends and both DH's will play golf while the mom's and kids hang out at Blizzard Beach!!).

You have a great trip too!

Ditto. John, I hope Amy is not coming down with a cold. Maybe just some rest and she will feel better today!! With all the crazy temperature changes we have had it is a wonder more of us are not really sick here either!!

:surfweb:

I wonder why temperature changes make us sick???
:confused3

Hey I represent that comment! 'those 60's babies' as part of 'our' group...at least from a culture standpoint. I strongly idenify with the boomers not the Xers. More about lifestyle choices and less about the Beatles.

Ewwww that hurts...it's ALL about the Beatles...they were the social consciousness at the time...

....every day of my life, I have one of their songs running around in my head depending on the mood i'm in and how the day is going...

....it's gettin better all the time...

....i'm so tired, i haven't slept a wink...

....here comes the sun...

....when i find myself in times of trouble, mother mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, Let it Be...

....whatever gets you through the night, it's all right...

....bang, bang maxwell's silver hammer came down upon her head...

....come together...

it was the social consiousness of the beatles that enabled you to make the lifestyle choices that you made...they were far more than just a band to many.
:cool2:

Before I leave with Samantha, let me chime in. My mother was a Public Guardian for many years and faced this question with families many times. You may want to talk to her Doctor and determine if she is competent to make her own health decisions. I know this is a drastic step but it may be a necessary one to save her life. My heart goes out to you!!

Oh, so many things I wished that I had kept to sell now! My DH still has a Million Dollar Man doll somewhere in our attic (the one that does all these tricks). He is sure it will be worth a fortune:lmao:

V: Congrats to DH! That is great!

Lisa(Disneylover5): Thanks for sharing that story.

Noel: Have a great time in SF today.

Deb: Hope it gets better with your mom. What a rough time this must be for you.

It is another sunny day here in WA (a miracle...3 in a row!!!). Of course I have to work all day:sad2: and then hang out at the dance studio on the craziest of all nights....picture night! Taylor's costume isn't in yet, so luckily I only have to get Jaide ready.

Deb, although I have no advice to give you, I just wanted to tell you I'm so sorry about all you and your mom are having to go through. :sad1:  I'm sure others here will be able to give you some helpful advice.

Mom and I have been fighting about 2 weeks about going back to the doctor. She is now under 100 pounds as well. Her insides are working very well, so she she does not the same problems as your mom does.

My mom suffers from unbelieveable pain from 8 broken backs and 2 torn rotater cuffs and very old knees.

I don't know about your mom, but my mom is of very sound mind. I could never convience a judge that she needed a care taker. She is just (at least I thought this till I read your troubles) the most stubborn woman on earth.

She is also afraid of doctors. They intimidate her. Her main doctor sees her every 4 months......I really like him and he is married to a high school friend of mine....and he has 10 kids. She does not like him....mostly because he does not sit down with her for an hour and chat. (Medicare makes it so the doctors have to see as many patients an hour as possible). He says things like "your doing great considering your age" (makes her really mad).

The knee doctor pretty much blows her off.....(we have had her knee xrays looked at by 4 different doctors and they all say the same thing....looks like knees of a 40 year old).....no one can tell her why they hurt so much.

The back doctor is worthless......

The rotator cuff doctor (this is a new injury ... 6 months ago) my mom really liked him.....I mean really liked him.

I tell you all of this, because that is my key....the fact that she likes him and he does not intimidate her. So TODAY finally, she told me I can make an appointment with him and she is going to tell him all the other doctors are hogwash.....(she will most likely use a word I can not use here:lmao: :lmao: )

Pain management seems to be all they will offer.......and pain management does not work very well and I know she is hurting. She can not even put curlers in her hair anymore. She never goes and gets her hair done anymore.

She has done the shots of cortizone....they last about 3 weeks....and she can only have one every 4 months....

You are in a very tough spot. If she were my mom, I would drag her.....otherwise she will die and you will feel terrible.....at least if you give your best shot, you can be a peace with yourself.

Maybe try a new doctor....or at least talk to your mom about why she won't go.... (my mom won't because she says they are all ba****ds)....my kids yell at her to stop talking like that :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sorry to be so long winded.....you are in a very tough spot......just do your best so you can be at peace with yourself, whatever you find that is....

Without going into detail, my mom died because of her stubborness about things like this. She did not like or trust doctors, and in the end, because of her not wanting to see doctors, she died of a very invasive infection. When I finally got her to the hospital (when I saw what shape she was in I called 911) she passed away two days later in the hospital.

I don't know what to tell you - my Greek mother was extremely stubborn, and to this day I know that stuborness cost her her life, and I miss her every day.

Deb,

I SO feel for you! I did not have to deal with these situations with my parents, but with both Grandmothers we had to take drastic steps and remove them from their independent environments. This is SO hard to do, but simply had to be done.

Also, when my mom, who suffered from renal failure and diabetes, levels got off she would have issues with being clear about her care. I was with her every day, and she depended on that, so I was able to monitor how her mental state was. She was also a very different person from her own mom who was fiercely independent and ended up severely dehydrated and in the hospital because she would not allow us to move her closer to us or put her in an assisted living place.

As hard as it will be for you to do, because you strike me as such a kind, caring and truly sweet person (like my mom was,) you will have to get tough with her and make her realize that the alternative, other than death, is her complete lack of independence. Her doctors "should" be able to assist with this.

My best to you, my heart goes out to you and I am sending lots of :grouphug: and pixiedust:

It is so hard to deal with the decline of those that we love so much! We become the parents and the decisions are so tough. Hang in there, and follow your heart as well.

XO

Karen

Thanks everyone...I have decided to just...let it be...for now. I'm going to the ocean this weekend and it will help, then next weekend is mother's day and we're all going out to dinner. I don't want her mad at me and fighting. So for now, we'll leave it alone and then try to persuade her slowly and gently after that. It'll give her some time to be on her own for a while, which is what she wants. I can't push too hard because I don't want to fight with her. I don't want my last memory with her to be an argument. Hopefully, it will improve over time.:thumbsup2

I know I posted before I do not watch a lot of TV other than sports or science type shows . . . But there are two shows I do watch, and I just watched on my DVR the latest episode of Heroes . . .

Any other Heroes fans out there?

This Monday's episode was awesome.

Love that show.

I LOVE Heros too....but I didn't see Monday's episode yet, so I'll let you know...:thumbsup2

It's been an interesting week, so far, for DH, DD and I as well. And most people that I have spoken to have had an "odd" week as well! Very strange, hope we aren't "due" for something strange happening...

Karen

Wednesday was a full moon!:lmao: :lmao:

Yes you could! JC Whitney catalog, record your own horn!:)

I have to do this.....it will drive my kids crazy!!

The young man in the Pirate hat is our friends son! He also does modeling for Mervyn's.

Karen

I can not believe that!! Small world!!

Hello everyone. Just back from our 2 week's holiday in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. Far too many pages to read before I post this hello, but I will have to browse through them.

Missed all the chat - can you imagine what it will be like this time next year? :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

That is a GREAT photo!

I think we'll probably freak out all the other passengers as we greet each other in the terminal. ::yes:: On our double dip, a group of us wore green feather boas and when we went through security one of the guards said "A lot of your family is already here".

Have an absolutely wonderful trip!

Love the Bananas Foster at the Jazz Kitchen! I'd love to hear about Steakhouse 55 when you get back. I've *almost* eaten there (Grandville's) several times then changed my mind at the last minute! I haven't made it to Napa Rose yet either. Hmmmmm, just this minute realized that while I've done the $$$ restaurants at WDW, I haven't really at DLR. I wonder why that is?

Sounds like great plans, have a wonderful time!

Congrats to both you pirates arhhhh pirate: getting the first and last post on page 1000...and to you endkaos for hitting the 15000 post!

What a lovely chatty morning you had!:cheer2:

We did have a nice chatty morning, it was fun. I feel like I often do 'drive by postings' most the time, it was fun to have a 'real time' conversation.

....ok, time to think about starting the work day.....

WELCOME HOME! We missed you!

Thank you!!! I have missed everyone and talking about the cruise.

We went to the port at Lanzarote one day and there was a large P&O cruise ship the Arcadia and we could go right alongside it. We have never been close to one before. I think even John was impressed and even a little excited - difficult to tell really as he doesn't 'do' excited!!

A Heros watcher from the beginning. Loved the twist this week. How Slyar took on Nathan's identity? He must have stolen from the shape shifter's power, but is Nathan gone or capitve? Hmm....

Well, since he could fly like Nathan too, I think it would be safe to say Nathan is dead too. But . . . remember, this is an alternate future that hopefully Hiro will be able to prevent.

Good Day all,
I have not been posting much, but have done my best to keep up on staying abreast with the goings on.:surfweb:

Hugs to everyone who need a :grouphug:

pixiedust: wishes to those who need a dusting. (and don't most of us at one time or another)

:cheer2: to everyone who need congratulations.:woohoo:

I think I could use some hugs and pixie dust. I have a busy weekend planned. I am having dinner tomorrow night with a friend that I have not seen in about 20 years. And for some reason I am very nervous about this. Not sure why. It's only dinner. Saturday morning a quick drive to LA to pick up our tickets for the DL pirate party. Back to SB to pick up my niece and nephew who are spending the rest of the weekend with us.

We are there next Wednesday, May 9th to Mother's Day, May 13th!!! CAN'T WAIT!!! Our shop opening weekend is the 20th, so no quick trips back to DL for us!
We will be at DL on May 10th. But for the evening only. We are going to a private pirate party from 9pm-1am at Disneyland. Have a Happy Mothers Day. What a great place to spend it. Do they still do the Mother's Day Buffet at the DL Hotel? You will be missed at the Meet.

I have to post this picture....it made me so happy this morning!

Cool Picture:thumbsup2

I noticed on the first page that there is an address so you can ship things to your cruise ship. What do you ship to yourself?

I also wanted to say that I have been thinking about people breaking into our house while we are gone too. We have never taken a 2 week vacation before. And I have a count down on my myspace page. I guess that's a bad idea!
