Not sure how to say this, as I'm sure your plan is not to follow our kids around and go snap happy, BUT some of us are hesitant to post pictures of our families online.

Carolyn

I can appreciate your concern. I was just assuming we would take a group picture and someone would post it.

If I come take pictures at the DIS meet, I will be sure to ask permission of any and all in the picture if they can be posted. I guess I figure with so many other sites our there to grab pictures, the DIS is the very least of my own concerns. Just my own thoughts...

Good point...I really wasn't thinking there, sometimes I forget there are other people than us out there that could be thread watching.

Hmmmm....maybe we should we 86 the idea of DIS meet pictures being posted altogether? I don't want this to be an issue by any means. Suggestions?

I'm glad to hear that there is a choice because I have a friend that is going on one of the week long cruises and she has a son that is VERY immature and small for his age. He will be 14 but he is as tall as my 7 year old and they are into the same things as well. He would not fit in with the teens at all. I have never been on a cruise at all but I kind of figured Disney would help as much as possible.

I bet he will love Disney Quest!!

Maybe you guys can post them on the website?? Password protected and w can all enjoy seeing you guys have fun!!

Just popping in for a moment. Busy here. My Dad is in the hospital as it appears he picked up an infection when he had his hip replaced last November. He's been on antibiotics which haven't gotten rid of the infection and now they've had to reoperate and redo the hip replacement. They aren't sure how long he'll have to remain in the hospital but hopefully he'll recover quickly although he's going to be on the antibiotics for a few more months.

I have to admit that even as I pay my taxes I'm thankful that we have universal healthcare here in Canada. We do pay high taxes but for that we don't have to worry about the quality of health insurance we have and the cost of it.

There are pros and cons to each system of course but have to admit that I like ours.

Hope everyone is well.

Fiona

There is a photo page on the group (password protected) web page, would that work?

Anyone still interested in access please PM me.

That is just fabulous!! My parents both retired with great pensions, health insurance and were able to enjoy retirement without a health or financial care in the world. That is what I call REAL retirement!!
:surfweb:

Well, we won't have "great" pensions, but we will have some and we will have healthcare. We will have to watch how we spend our pennies, but we should be able to afford a tank of gas every now and then to get from DISer home to DISer home. :lmao:

We are going to live this dream! I will get to keep my health insurance when I retire early. We just bought the motorhome, put horns on it that play the DCL ship horn and we are set to go! :thumbsup2

Oh, how fun!
We travelled for a year and a half about 14 years ago. The kids were in 4th and 2nd grade and I homeschooled them through 6th and 4th. We started here in Washington, made our way down south with a stop at Disneyland (of course) and toured much of Arizona and New Mexico. My grandparents owned an RV park in Elk City Oklahoma and wanted some help running it for a while so were spent a few months there. Then we toured through Kansas ( I was born in Wichita) and ended up spending about 6 months in Branson. DH worked at Silver Dollar City. From there we headed down to Florida where we met up with my parents and sister and caravaned all around Florida. Of course we ended up in Orlando. We spent 3 1/2 weeks at the Fort Wilderness campground and then just outside in Kissimee. DH worked at the Magic Kingdom for about 4 months. The kids were getting tired of not having any friends and I was a bit homesick, so we headed back to Washington.
All DH and I have been able to think about since is our retirement and living that wonderful life again. We will do it...soon than later I hope.

I don't know about 86ing pictures altogether. Maybe just understanding that permissions to post would be appreciated. If we're the only ones with this issue, let me know. (Do appreciate the password protected site...that would work for us.)

Friends of ours took a year and did this in Austrailia ... 3 kids....cound never imagine!! This was a long time ago now...Joe was in 4th grade that year and now he is graduating HS this year!!

I hear what you're saying...like I said, I really forget to think sometimes  . So, we'll post on the protected site and if someone wants to post a picture (like a big one of the group) then we'll agree that it has to be OK with everyone first. I still can't believe we have almost 40 people coming...that's so great! I just wanted to make sure my lack of thought didn't make anyone uncomfortable...just smack me in da head!

Lisa, I think this is a good idea! I've posted family pics on the dis before, but it wasn't without a little hesitation at first. I also make sure that I have no "real" contact info with them. (Same reason I don't post my stateroom number!) I'm looking forward to the meet!

I'd probably look like a big, mustachioed, Forest Gump.

Road Trip!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I sure needed that laugh after how awful my day at work was today......I can always count on you posting something that will make me laugh! One of my attorneys is in China for a week and a few of his clients were calling me today about things I'm supposedly going to be working on for them while he's out this week. I had NO idea what was going on with any of those clients because they're files I've never worked on and the attorney neglected to clue me in. I didn't want these clients to lose confidence in the firm, so I just tried to act like I had things under control, then went to another attorney and said, "HELP!!!!" Total chaos today. Tomorrow will be better! :goodvibes

You're so lucky! Enjoy every second of it and the rest of us can live vicariously through you both. Hmmmm......I wonder if I could rig up the DCL ship horn to my car! :lmao:

I am so jealous of you guys. That sounds like so much fun!

Awww....how cute! Sweet that you thought of us! :goodvibes You know, there's always tons of pirate stuff in the Oriental Trading catalog, so I showed it all to Tyler, positive that he'd go nuts over it and want to do a pirate party. But he's absolutely set on a camoflage theme this year. Today he informed me that he'd like his cake to be camoflage with Army hummers on top. Next weekend we'll probably go buy all the party goodies.

Well, that's going to be a hard reputation to live up to . . . I'll do my best - just keep feeding me material . . .

Anyway . . .

I had a rough day at work too, so I totally sympathize. Humor and friends on the DIS are my escape (just like the tag the tag fairy gave me). I think some if not most of you are aware I work in HR - and labor relations. Both can be extreme challenges on some days, and this has not only been one of those days, but one of those weeks.

I think as long as you don't identify with the child's real name, it's really not an issue. That is why chat boards have always used "usernames", to keep the anonymity of the participants. Very few people who know me online know my real full name. I only tell them it after I have gotten to know them and meet them in person. My children were taught to never go with anyone who didn't know the secret password. Then they knew this person really knew me.

Bummer.....you have a double whammy at work. :sad2: But hang in there and DIS whenever you can! It's a great release! :yay:
