OK, all by myself I guess.

Have a good Saturday night everyone!

Deb...There's a newish aquarium in Long Beach (MUCH closer to LA). Haven't been, but I think it's called the Aquarium of the Pacific. There is a small aquarium at UCSD in the La Jolla area, the Birch Aquarium. Don't know where Cheri went...(we love the moon jellies at the Birch)...

Carolyn

Thanks Carolyn, that's some great information. We love aquariums, so we're certainly going to do at least one of them. We'll figure it out as we plan our week in LA.

It's our first time in California, so naturally, we want to do everything. But we only have one week, so we'll see.
:hippie:

 Well, here's hoping it's not as bad as you think it will be. pixiedust:

Thanks . . . . . . . .

But it was about as bad as we expected. Let's just say, for what our family is paying for this cruise, we could do it four more times!

Anyway, it is what it is.

Good news is Shawn figured out what was wrong with the pool this week! The girls went swimming today thinking they were so tough . . . . for about ten minutes. After that they caved in and said please heat up the spa! Water is not quite warm enough yet.

My little cruise box keeps growing and growing! The afro came in....it comes with it's own pic! Hilarious....!

Good morning to you. My cruise box contains just our fish extender as yet!!! I have a notebook with hints and tips, plus other interesting titbits though!!! Hopefully this time next year it will be full to the brim.:cheer2:

My cruise box has some lime green dice (for Bunko) and some Mickey playing cards. Oh, and also my SPECIAL DIS shirt, but I'll be wearing it to the DIS meet in May (sneak preview!):yay:

This last time when we flew SW, we had 3 loud and rambunctious kids in the three seats in front of us. As people started to board, we figured out that mom placed herself one row ahead, across the aisle from them, and was blabbing on the cell phone oblivious to their fighting, etc. and Dad was one row back across the aisle in the window seat (where he could exert absolutely no control over said rowdy kids. When they got on, there were plenty of seats for them to sit closer.

In dad's row, another man had sat on the aisle seat, so they had the center seat open. Dad looked very comfortable. Well, they started saying it was a full flight, and before we pushed back, a very large (even by my standards) man came up the aisle, sweating profusely (probably from running to get to the plane), and the ONLY empty seat was that center seat. I thought to myself, there is some justice in the world, as the dad of rowdy kids got a wet plastering to his window seat.

EEEEWWWWWW!!! :faint:

well....did a few more loads...added some acid to the pool and cleaned out the various leaf catchers....I think we are headed in there in a bit. It is a gorgoues 90 degree day. The girls have managed to drive me nuts all day, not help do anything and really frustrate me beyond belief. I seem to have such a short fuse these days.

Calmon/Calgon.....take me away!!!!!;) ;) ;)

John and I want to spend one day at the aquarium after we get off this cruise. We'll do a week in LA then fly home. We'll take one day and go to San Diego. How long did you spend at the aquarium? Is it in Poway? We have cruise friends that moved from Poway to Tucson. I can't wait to see the area.

Hope the weather continues to be nice for you, enjoy your trip.
:flower3:

The aquarium is in La Jolla--I believe it's part of Scripps. We were there about an hour but didn't see even half of it. We had to leave because my friend had her 8 mo. old grandson with us and he needed to have his nap. I'm sure I could have stayed at least another hour.

Today we went back to La Jolla and walked around the cove and "children's pool" area. It was somewhat cloudy today and a little cooler, but still wonderful. We saw the sea lion rookery. Then we drove down to the Point Loma area and ate at a fish market--yummy! Then we drove a little further south to Cabrillo Pt. to the tide pools and walked around there. We drove up to an outlet mall near Carlsbad and had some Golden Spoon frozen yogurt for dinner. Have any of you CA people tried it? It's really good! I was happy to find out that they have one in Mesa and 2 more opening in Chandler & Scottsdale soon. We also stopped at a strawberry stand and had a bowl of strawberries--perfect dinner, don't you think? I got a little sun today, which feels good. More fun tomorrow...:cool1:

NotSoLittleMermaid sez: There are no bad days if you're at the beach!:beach:

John1, Dennis got the horns he ordered for the RV, got them put in, I found a copy of the ship's horn from CD DCL sent out on the web (ours was broken when it arrived), we got it recorded and he is working on getting the recording on the horns now! :woohoo: What fun it will be to blow that horn as we pull out! :cool1:

TOO COOL!!!:cool1:
Will you do a countdown before you pull out of the driveway????

What a perfect day...so you would say it's worth the drive down from LA to La Jolla...plenty to see and do there. About how long of a drive is it? Is it along the coastal highway? Just wondering and trying to make plans for the LA week after cruise.

Continue to enjoy your trip and keep us updated. It sounds devine!

The Aquarium of the Pacific is lovely.

The Magic will dock in the Port of Los Angeles, which is in San Pedro. The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is in San Pedro, and is worth a visit. http://www.cabrilloaq.org/ Admission is free, with a recommended donation.

Quite here tonight. We just watched our Oakland A's lose to the Yankees (#!@* Yankees) in 13 innings! Last night they won in 11!!:thumbsup2

Really good games!

Thanks Woody, I didn't know the port was in San Pedro. I thought it was in Long Beach. You can tell I'm an East Coaster. I know where the port is in Florida.

Thanks for sending the info. it looks great! Now I have a choice of three to visit. Or I can do them all! We're going to be staying at a hotel on the water in Rodondo Beach and we'll have a rental car, so I imagine we'll be doing a lot of driving to get to all of our points of interest. I hear traffic is not the best and we'll be arriving during Memorial Day weekend. Should be congested during the weekend and then hopefully return to normal work schedules by Tuesday. We'll probably stay local and do the Santa Monica pier during the holiday weekend. Tuesday we'll probably hit DL....first time there!!! Then we'll have the rest of the week to explore LA and surrounding areas. So much to do in so little time...

The Aquarium of the Pacific has the "wow" factor, and is my favorite aquarium in California after the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

The Cabrillo Maritime Museum is much smaller, but enjoyable nonetheless.
