Good example of the kind of #$%$ I am talking about. Most college kids just take it I think, and then Universities don't like it when parents get involved, and say we are not letting out kids grow up. I went through some of this with Alex at YSU - I am happy to let Alex grow up, but I won't stand for the BS when I am paying what I am to send him through school. The cost of school keeps going up, but the BS seems to grow with the cost!
Exactly! $865.00/credit hour worth of BS!!! :headache:  :faint:

This is going to be a busy weekend for us . . .

Tomorrow night, Amy is co-chairing a charity event dinner for our local Urban League. It is called the Black and White Ball, and there is a dinner and auction.

Saturday, we have an auction to raise funds for the school to build a new Football stadium. Since our public won't even pay for education, we are raising the funds privately, and using our own sweat to get it done.

Lots of work for us, and we have donated stuff and better bring the checkbook too!

Tons of work for you and Amy! But such important work. Hats off to you both! :thumbsup2

Our weekend isn't busy at all this week (finally). So Saturday when I pick Tyler up from his dad's at 5, we're going to one of his day care buddy's house for dinner and playing. Then I think Sunday will be filled with lots of cleaning that I've been too sick and run down to do. If the weather stays dry, and not unbearably cold, we'll probably start on spring yardwork. Also have to put the easter bunnies in our front yard back in storage in the garage. I hate that they're still there, but it's been too cold and snowy to mess with them.

such good work - I wish I were closer I would be all in to help!

and AMY - I am sooooo sorry about the table at AK...I feel like such a smuck!

Well, that's all for me tonight. Off to bed to read a bit before falling asleep. Work tomorrow, then a much needed night out with the girls! About 7 of us are going out for dinner to say farewell and good luck to a fellow co-worker moving on to a new job.

Goodnight all! See ya on the flipside!

Quick update about my friend - turned out that she didn't have the ok from Stanford oncology to go through IVF another month. Her oncologist misspoke or she misunderstood. She does need to start Chemo on Tuesday. She is very sad. Anyway, just thought I'd give an update. Lisa

Oh that is so sad. I hope everything works out for her.:grouphug:

That is so amazing! So glad to hear others have tax woos. My sister called to tell me she is getting money back. :headache:

I am SO into the Champagne girl idea. Do I bring a bottle?

So into this multi-quoting thing. First time doing it!

Hi Lisa! How did the performance go with your church? I recall your husband having some involvement in some big performance?

:lmao:

Congrats!pirate:

OK - I am about 170 pages behind, but I have the baby napping, kids are playing in the cabin. Here I go! Lisa

My best tax years were the year my house got toxic mold and I got to take a huge deduction (didn't cover my cost, but oh well) and the years when I have massive medical costs.... I have decided that neither one of those are worth the refund.

Last semester I had a different issue. The registrar's office e-mails everybody to tell us our assigned date and time for registration. If you're unable to make your assigned time, you can fax your registration form the morning of your assigned date. It's a different fax number than the registrar's office because registration is held at the auditorium. So you have to fax to the auditorium. That's what I did because I couldn't get off work. I kept the fax confirmation sheet showing the fax did indeed go through. A week later, when I never received verificaton of my schedule in the mail, I called the school and was told I never registered. I even took my fax confirmation sheet to show them it was received on their end, but nobody cared because it wasn't "in the system". The guy working questioned what number I faxed it to, so I showed him that it went to the auditorium. He told me, "Oh, that's why we didn't get it." So I showed him the instruction sheet that said to fax it to the auditorium. Nothing I tried mattered. By this time, all the classes I needed were closed, so I had to take whatever I could get, which meant driving out of town to another campus (3 hour round trip) a couple times a week. :headache:

I'll be so happy to graduate and not have to deal with them any more!

We have been very fortunate with Sam's school. She has been able to take every single class that she wanted over the last four years. The tuition is horrendous but at least she is out in four years!!

Well...you still have to watch to find out who did leave :goodvibes and I wouldn't be surprised if he's there until the end or close to it. :scared1: (maybe that'll be his look next week).

I heard on the news this morning that American Idol and Dancing w/the Stars are taped on the same sound stage so Sanjaya and Bill Ray Cirus have become best buds (imagine that!) and Bill Ray has asked Sanjaya to be on Hannah Montana. I'm sure he'll be a hit there...that's his target audience. He's also getting all sorts of acting offers.......so there ya go!

My DD LOVES HANNAH MONTANA, but not Sanjaya. She says he sounds like grandma (she is tone deaf)

I am, but still very hesitant. The people at school were just so adamant that I would NOT be able to receive Federal student loans because of taking this semester off, so I'm just afraid to be too excited until I actually see the $$ in my account. I'm tentatively hopeful, but will be ecstatic on 4/26 (disbursement day) if it really happens! Well, that's the day the loan company releases funds to school, and it's usually a day or 2 later that the leftover funds (for books and other stuff) show up in my bank account.....so 4/28 is probably when I'll find out for sure if it really happened.

Don't tell anybody this, but as someone who teaches at a University, sometimes the federal goverment and university don't communicate very well. Also, you may have an angel in student services who asked the fed to reevaluate your application and did not tell you. Sometimes there are really nice people out there.

Amy is so good with the homeless.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I knew there was another reason I like you both so much. You restore my faith in humanity.

The Woodside Elementary school in our area has both a foundation and an auction every year to raise funds. The auctions there are really over the top!!

I worked for 7 years on the auction at my daughter's school raising funds. People that don't volunteer and work these auctions have no idea about the tremedous amount of time and effort they take.

My hat is off to you guys!! You deserve kudos for all the time and effort you and Amy put in for your children.

The only high school I know of here in California that has a fully funded football program is the school my nephews attended, De la Salle in Concord.

I am so sad for your friend but hope she will come through the chemo with flying colors!!

The Pirate and Princess party is on the 28th, so we are going to try and go to that too.

I am so bummed we won't be there any time when that is being offered. Do you think it will become an annual event? V-did you go this year (or anyone else)? Was it fun?

Wow....good luck with all of that! I know how crazy chairing an auction can be...and time consuming. I started and chaired the school auction at DD's school for 3 years and slept for 3 days after each auction:lmao: :rotfl2: Kudos to Amy. Hope it goes amazing. I always get a little carried away at auctions:rolleyes1 Have a great time!
