Quick update about my friend - turned out that she didn't have the ok from Stanford oncology to go through IVF another month. Her oncologist misspoke or she misunderstood. She does need to start Chemo on Tuesday. She is very sad. Anyway, just thought I'd give an update. Lisa

She was able to do the IVF once, right? Hopefully that was enough :goodvibes  to her, it has to be so hard for her right now...but her health is the most important thing.

My DD LOVES HANNAH MONTANA, but not Sanjaya. She says he sounds like grandma (she is tone deaf)

My DD's met Hannah (or Mylie) last year after the Cheetah Girls concert. She was very nice. It was a 2 second sign an autograph meeting, but she was really nice and tried to meet as many as possible. Billy Ray didn't come out with her though:confused3

Also, you may have an angel in student services who asked the fed to reevaluate your application and did not tell you. Sometimes there are really nice people out there.

My DH is pretty religious and when he was in school we were having awful troubles with financial aid. He kept telling me pretty much every day how he was praying that everything would work out. He said he was asking St. Peter for help. One day he said how he was asking Peter for help and Peter said he could do something. I thought my DH lost his mind as I thought he meant St. Peter - but he was talking about someone named Peter in the student services. :rotfl: Peter turned out to be our little saint and did get everything worked out. Lisa

Hello from a much sunnier Angel today. The sun is out and it's going to be a better day I feel. Anyway, Becky and I are going shopping so that's got to be good, right?:thumbsup2

Mandy,

Glad you having a better day! Mine was not so great today:confused:

Glad shopping helped, it always seems to help things!

Classes start May 7th. I was turned down for every type of loan, every place I tried, and had just resigned myself to the fact that my only option would be to take another semester off, work more, cancel the November cruise with Tyler, and save money to be able to return to school. Then something strange happened. I received a letter in the mail a few days ago from the lender where my Federal student loans come from, telling me that my loan has been processed and will be disbursed 4/26/07 and 9/6/07. HUH?! :confused3 I was very confused, but decided I should trust that letter because they make the decision, since they're the ones giving me the money, not the school. But I was still hesitant to get my hopes up. Then 2 days later, I received a letter from school telling me basically the same thing, and the info is also showing up on my account online at school. I have no idea what happened. I'm ticked off about the stress school put me through, worrying about how to come up with that much money, etc., but my relief definitely outweighs my irritation. I've heard other students talk about how they've also had similar experiences where it seems different people at school will give different answers and nobody really seems to know what's going on.

But for whatever reason, it worked out! :thumbsup2

Fantastic Holly. I just love it when these kinds of things happen. It's been horrible for you in the meantime though. You can relax now!!!:)

OMG - I just booked free dining!! 8/26-8/30 wow ----!

Great - that will be fantastic.

Pixie Dust request for tomorrow.......(sorry it is a bit long)

DH is a real estate investor (when he isn't being the full time Dad)...we have been looking for a good house to move to but one that is in DD's home school area. She is actually on a waiver right now and there is a good chance that DD2 (starting K in fall) won't get in unless we get into that area because the school is so full. We have fallen in love with a house that was on the market in 9/06. We placed several offers but always got a no from the owners. The house has since gone into foreclosure (it is a disaster now...no fixtures, no toilets, walls half painted etc) and we tried to get them to sell it to us again, but still no luck. We have been dealing with this for 6 months now. Well, tomorrow the 2nd loan goes up for auction. We don't want to buy it because the cost for the 2nd and the 1st are more than the house is worth, but we hope no one else will buy it either. Ok, that was a really long story to explain that we need lots of good thoughts and pixie dust tomorrow that no one bids on the 2nd. If that is the case, then when the 1st comes up for auction on June 29, we can bid there and hopefully get the house:woohoo: ! If someone does get it tomorrow, we know it wasn't meant to be but I will be so :sad2: I must say this whole thing has been so exhausting. The owners of this house had 4 houses and the other 3 have all gone through foreclosure over the last 6 months! Why they wouldn't save themselves another one and just sell it to us for a reasonable price I have no idea.

Thanks everyone......

All the best for today. It all seems very complicated!:confused3

Good tip: Always delete your history, cookies, and temp files every day. It is a quick check I do sometimes with my staff to make sure too much time isn't spent surfing the web. I know there is much more in depth searches that can be done but I think 9/10 times that is all employers do (unless something serious is going on).

How do you do that?

This is going to be a busy weekend for us . . .

Tomorrow night, Amy is co-chairing a charity event dinner for our local Urban League. It is called the Black and White Ball, and there is a dinner and auction.

Saturday, we have an auction to raise funds for the school to build a new Football stadium. Since our public won't even pay for education, we are raising the funds privately, and using our own sweat to get it done.

Lots of work for us, and we have donated stuff and better bring the checkbook too!

It does look like a very busy weekend. Well done Amy. You said she is shy John, so even more 'well done'.

Your school funding is so different to over here though there is always fund raising for the extras, and more and more, for what was once the necessities. Our daughter's children's school had a bad fire just 2 weeks into the start of the year last September, destroying the nursery and damaging badly thr Reception classrooms and others. They have been involved in fundraising and have done well. A few weeks ago she was part of an organising group of a 'James Bond' themed ball, with auction, and they raised £5,000, about $9,000.

Quick update about my friend - turned out that she didn't have the ok from Stanford oncology to go through IVF another month. Her oncologist misspoke or she misunderstood. She does need to start Chemo on Tuesday. She is very sad. Anyway, just thought I'd give an update. Lisa

That is very sad and she must be devastated for 2 reasons, the fact that she needs to start chemo soon, and that this stops the IVF! I'll keep her in my prayers.

Goodnight Karen....sorry you had a not so great day...hoping you have sweet dreams and a brighter day tomorrow.:wizard:

Good morning Marilyn, hope you have a great day shopping for your holiday things. How long did it take for the plumbers to leave yesterday? Were you stuck DISing and watching TV the whole time? I hope you made it to the loo....enjoy your day today.:goodvibes

Hi angel, glad you had a sunnier day yesterday. Did you enjoy your shopping trip with Becky? What did you girls buy?;) ;)

Holly, it's great to have you back as your usual queen of postings...we certainly missed you. So happy that the whole student loan thing worked out. Now you can start your next semester refreshed and ready. How many credits will you take? How much longer do you have to go before you get your degree? It's great that your health is restored too and now you can go back to hitting the gym.

Hey, I have a 30 something single male living with me, well, actually in the apartment above the detached garage. How do you feel about long distance relationships? Unfortunately, he's not coming on this cruise with us or you would have had that blind jeep date. But he will be on a cruise with us during Halloween. When are you and Tyler going on your cruise together? Maybe we could do a mini DISmeet and introduce the two of you. His name is, what else, John. He's DHs son and my step-son. He's extremely brilliant with a quirky sense of humor. Look at DHs picture in my signature and imagine him 20 years younger and that's what his son looks like....hey, you never know, stranger things have happened...:confused3 :confused3 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I was in West Side Story at Theatre Winter Haven when I was a senior...I was one of the Jets girls...I had a name in the program, but for the life of me can't remember....I only had a handful of lines....I was there to dance! Funny - almost our entire cast was made up of Disney Cast members who would get off work and drive over to Winter Haven....good memories....

Good times...

I played Maria in our Junior College production. Had to mask the Naturally Blond hair with a black wig and blue eyes with contacts, but we pulled it off!:woohoo:

One of my best friends' mom was in the movie as a Jet girl! She was also in Sweet Charity. Very cool!!:cool1:

They were here 3 and 1/4 hours! I did get to the loo when they popped out to the van, but they got back before I managed to get past the loft ladder, so I had to squeeze past when they were standing on it!! We do now have HOT water so it was worth it. And I got to Dis etc all morning!

Good very late evening Karen...I'm surprised you're up at this hour. I'm up early, not late today. DH is getting ready for work, he's up everyday at this time and sometimes I get up with him.

Hope your day is better today, or tomorrow after you sleep, than yesterday was. Wishing you positive vibes...:goodvibes

Holly,

I'm so glad that this stress had been alleviated for you! It's hard enough when you've had tgo deal with health issues, to have that constant stress in the background is not good for your health either!!:confused3

Feel better soon!!

Karen

Karen, you posted when I did, so I didn't notice you were back online.

Deb, this is very early to be up and about!! I don't think I could get up regularly to see my husband off at this time. What have you got planned for today?

Good morning to anyone still up...and to Marilyn of course!
Hope anyone asleep is having pleasant dreams of cruising:thumbsup2

Well...you still have to watch to find out who did leave :goodvibes and I wouldn't be surprised if he's there until the end or close to it. :scared1: (maybe that'll be his look next week).

I heard on the news this morning that American Idol and Dancing w/the Stars are taped on the same sound stage so Sanjaya and Bill Ray Cirus have become best buds (imagine that!) and Bill Ray has asked Sanjaya to be on Hannah Montana. I'm sure he'll be a hit there...that's his target audience. He's also getting all sorts of acting offers.......so there ya go!

Lisa...:rotfl2: I'm so bummed he's still there!!!! We watch it tonight over here so I'll get to see who goes then...

Well, it looks very good for us to get an exchange student. Her name is Vanessa and here is her picture. I was trying to tell my girls what her accent sounds like. They can't believe that if she looks "normal" why she doesn't talk "normal".

I was reading al the details and she will not get a high school diploma from Westfield (our HS).....so I guess it does not matter how much school she will miss. Maybe I can bring her with me on this cruise......that will have to wait and see.

she looks very sweet, lots of fun for your girls to have stay with them!

Thats fantastic news for you Holly, I'm soooo pleased!:cool1:

You must have had an Angel looking after you!:thumbsup2

What a peculiar predicament to be in...good thing they were wearing long pants standing on that ladder as you squeezed by...

Hot water is a very good thing to have, very necessary! And you got to DIS all morning. Not a bad way to start your day.

How amazing is that, a spare John in the right age range too.:rotfl: I think a mini Dis meet is in order!!

Holly did say she was looking for a 30 something John for her jeep....:lmao: :lmao:

Wishing you a bucket of pixiedust: pixiedust: for today!

Holly and Kaylee, I will keep my fingers crossed for both of you!

I have to say Holly, I HATE, HATE, HATE dealing with higher education institutions. I hated it as a student. I now HATE it as a parent. Don't get me wrong, I love education - it is the bureaucracy of colleges and Universities that is so frustrating.

Oh, I am so not looking forward to this next year when Becky starts University! We've been looking into funding but can't get anything, and as her dad refuses to help out looks like we've got to sort the whole thing out ourselves with loans etc:scared:

Holly, cooeeee, wake up.:rotfl:

Hi Mandy, hope you are still feeling ok!

The sun is coming out here.:) Must go and get ready. It is the last day of the school holidays so I expect fed up parents and whingy children! It was bad yesterday. I would leave it till next week, but I haven't the time then.

Have a great day Deb, Mandy and everyone else as you wake up.

Karen, you posted when I did, so I didn't notice you were back online.

Deb, this is very early to be up and about!! I don't think I could get up regularly to see my husband off at this time. What have you got planned for today?

I don't get up at this time everyday with him, just sometimes. Today I'm back in the doctors office with mom. Taking her to an Internal Medicine Geriatric specialist. He needs to coordinate all of her specialists and get her on a maintenance program so we can avoid another hospital stay. She has been in the hospital four times in three months. That's way too often. So hopefully, this doctor will be able to prevent that.

What kind of things are on your shopping list for today? It's always fun shopping for a holiday or vacation away. I love wearing all new things when I go away. It makes the trip so much more fun.

Kaylee,

Sending lots of pixiedust: your way!

It is strange how people think (or don't think). After the first foreclosure, you would think that they would sell to the first person that came along...:confused3

People are strange... Uh oh, Doors song stuck in my head now!!

Best of luck!!
