WOW...we're almost at page 1000....who will be the first post on that page....the best pirate of course!pirate: pirate: pirate:

I decided that for my 50th, last November, I wanted to go to NYC and see a broadway show and eat dinner at Tavern on the Green in Central Park and stay overnight at a nice hotel. I haven't had the chance to do it yet, with mom and her hospital stays starting just before my birthday. But I do intend to get there and my best friend, Cindy, and her husband said they'll join us. Cindy turns 50 this August. Maybe we'll go then and celebrate both of us.

For Ted, you should find the thing that he loves the most, besides Mickey and wine, and make a special weekend out of it. Maybe invite his best friend too. A special museum, a concert, riding horses, etc., make it an experience.

I didn't want a big party. I'm not 16 anymore. I just want quality time with those I love the most by choice.

We did the big Surprise party with friends when he turned 40. I think that what he would like to do the best is go fishing in either Alaska or Cabo. I hope to be able to afford to send him to one of those places by August (he is also an August b-day, the 17th.):woohoo:

I know that he would love to be with DD and I, but I think that he would have a really good time with his guy friends as well. Another good plan would be to take him to the "French Laundry" in Yourntville (near Napa). This is one of the TOP restaurants, Thomas Keller's place. It is very pricey. $150.00 for lunch, per person, not including wine!! But I think that he would really enjoy it!:thumbsup2

Not asleep yet, but on my way soon!:cloud9:

Have a lovely Saturday. We'll be at the shop all day, it is the Mardi Gras Parade in Benicia, now called the Gold and Gumbo parade because they hold it in April, when the weather is better, instead of in February.:rolleyes1

Should be lot's of fun and I will have DD and her friend hand out flyers for the new shop's Grand Opening in May!

We are to DL for the night - tomorrow is MouseAdventure. Everyone keep your fingers crossed we don't come in last. (I know ... not much of a goal but we've never been before so don't really have any idea what to expect.)

For anyone going to the May meet in DL don't forget about Priceline for hotels the night before or that night. We but in a bid of $65 for tonight and got the Marriott (total w/taxes and Priceline fee $81). Not bad since it was listed at $139 before taxes everywhere else.

We hope to do this the weekend of the meet as well. We use them a couple of times a year and have always had our bids accepted and been in realy nice hotsl.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Oh and if anyone was thinking of seeing Grindhouse we saw it last night and enjoyed it. Not going to win any awards but it was fun and entertaining (if you like that sort of thing.)

Oh boy, It took me half an hour today to catch up on all the posts I had missed. I wonder what this thread will look at at the Feb.'08 mark!

Tiggerspal, if you need some time with young ones, you're more than welcome to meet the rowdy boys(:dance3: ). They cure everyone.:headache:

On the car rental places, all of those are the ones closest to Disneyland/Anaheim Resort Area. I know you can get a shuttle from LAX to DL, so I would think DCL would have something similar from San Pedro to Disneyland.

Having been to San Pedro several times, it's not a very pretty place and the Ports of Call shopping center has seen better, much better days.

Here's a link to a video I took out of San Pedro last year. I thought some of you might enjoy it (Ibouncetoo, TiggersPal, NotSoLittleMermaid).;)

I'm going to take it down at the end of April. I found someone pirating it on myspace again, claim it has their own! Bloody pirates!

Thanks for sharing Miss T. I loved the video and am not surprised some bloody pirate stole it! Very cool ship.

I would be happy to spend some quality time with some rowdy boys! I can't wait till we get closer and find out who's doing what excursions - so we can do some group activites!

Have a great weekend.

Gretchen (DD10) has been practicing for Mulan every since November when she got the role of Crickee in the play. She has worked so hard, practicing 2-3 times a week, along with all of her other extra stuff. Anyway, the show was this week.....she did it 4 times!! Twice on Tuesday and Twice on Wednesday.

Love the little actress! I am belated in getting this post back to you - I apologize I wanted to respond yesterday but was at work and stuff kept coming up.

We too have an actress in our family - ibouncetoo!!! She's not that young anymore but I remember seeing her when I was little in plays and thinking - that's NOT my sister... I don't know who that is on stage. She was amazing. Could have gone all the way - she could... but:sad2: I guess she just never realized what talent she had/has...

anyway, thanks everyone for sharing posts of your family - it is very enjoyable to get to know everyone a bit better.

Help me understand more of what you want to do, and how much you want to spend. I love my Macbook -

Reasons to go Pro :

Slightly faster processors available
Larger screen (Macbook is 13" only - pro is 15" or 17")
Expansion slot in Pro - none in Macbook
You like the look of aluminum
backlit keyboard on Pro
You want a matte finish screen (glossy only on Macbook)

Here's an article with a more detailed comparisson . . .

http://www.pbcentral.com/columns/hildreth_moore/macbookmacbookpro.shtml

For me, I would save some $$$, and buy a Macbook with as big a hard drive as you think you need, and I would also make sure I got the Superdrive (read and write CD's and DVD's).

My son is going to get a Mac this summer, and he is going to buy a pro - he wants the bigger screen. I like the portability of the smaller laptop.

Any other questions I can help with?

John,

My DW (clynne), told me that you are the resident MAC Geek. I have a MAC Book Pro and was wondering if you could help with a small issue. The IO Gear GUC232A (USB-Serial) will not work. Not sure why; I have the latest binaries but it fails to initialize. It does work on my IBM T60 and Dell GX650.

Any ideas? Once working I can ditch my winblows machine :)

Thanks, Surly

Excellent! A good sense of self and good self-esteem are both products of you and your husband's good parenting!!

You must be very proud, and I hope that she find something close to home!!

BTW - have missed your posts! Glad to have you back!

Karen

Thanks for the compliment. We had a lovely evening with her last night. She is so grown up now that it makes my DH sad that his "baby Sam" doesn't need him as much anymore.

Noel

Yup, my sister, Cathy, had one too!! I'm sure that with ebay, she wishes that she still had one!!;)

Not me, no Chatty Karen's made at that time... except for me!!:rolleyes1

Karen

Same here and I had an original Barbie. Worst of all, my Uncle Roy used to give us all comic books that probably would sell for a fortune on EBAY!!

It's good to see you back, Noel. It's not the same here without you. What an awesome day you and Sam shared...seeing her go out into the real world for the first time...priceless....and to see her being successful at it....your heart must be swelling with pride....to know that all your efforts over the years of teaching her have now been rewarded. It doesn't get any better than that... enjoy the milestone together.

What a lovely compliment!! We are very excited and yet sad at the same time if you know what I mean. She is addressing her graduation announcements as I type. Another milestone...

Lisa, sounds like a blast!! Good to hear that you guys are doing something fun!!

We accepted this invitation about 2 months ago. I had planned to have my Tri-Delt soriorty sisters I still see at the beach this weekend....but I cancelled that when this party came up.

Tonight the is a fund raiser for Reema's Scholarship fund. They asked my husband to MC and lead the music.....he really wanted to accept, but I told him we need to change our focus for little while. I really need a change of pace. They are expecting about 2,000 people at this fund raiser tonight.

Besides, how rude would it be to bail out on this party? They must be spending $1,000 on each couple?? My DH had trouble understanding it would be rude. DH was also the Best man in this wedding 25 years ago!! But in the end, he saw my side.....

So the Limo will pick us up in a few hours!!

I just can't drink to much because I have to get up at 3am to make the Med excursions!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Had to look up to understand what it is . . . what are you using the cable for - to connect to? Connectivity issues are the WORST - I don't care what kind of computer anyone uses. I spent last night fine tuning my airport network so that I could access the new 500gb HD that I bought - and finally got it to work right - sad thing is, I really don't know how or why - I just kept starting from scratch and trying things.
