CNN BREAKING NEWS TO MY E-MAIL

"-- Larry Birkhead is the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, a court in the Bahamas rules. Birkhead said he hopes to have custody
soon."

[NASSAU, Bahamas (CNN) -- Larry Birkhead says a Bahamian court declared he is the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby daughter, Dannielynn.

"I told you so," Birkhead said outside the court.

A DNA test confirmed him as the father with 99.99 percent certainty, said Dr. Michael Baird, who performed the test.

The court had ordered DNA testing to determine the father of the child, who has been at the center of a paternity dispute since she was born in a Bahamian hospital in September.

The doctor who performed a DNA test for Birkhead, Smith's former boyfriend who insisted he fathered the baby, revealed the results to a closed session of a Bahamian court Tuesday.

Birkhead, an entertainment reporter and photographer, said shortly after the baby's birth that he accompanied Smith to doctors' appointments until a "minor disagreement" took place while she was pregnant.

But Smith publicly identified Howard K. Stern, her lawyer and live-in companion, as the baby's father and listed him as the father on the child's birth certificate.

In September, Stern said on CNN's "Larry King Live" that he and Smith were confident he was the father, and "based on when the timing of when the baby was born, there really is no doubt in either of our minds."

Her daughter stands to inherit millions of dollars from the estate of Smith's late husband, oil tycoon Howard Marshall II. Until her death, Smith was involved in a legal battle over the inheritance.

After a protracted dispute over the burial of Smith's body, Stern and Birkhead began battling in Bahamian courts over the child, and a judge ordered that a swab be taken from the girl for DNA testing.

Stern then asked the Bahamas' Court of Appeal to block release of those test results, arguing that the judge had misinterpreted the law and his order invaded the girl's privacy.

Earlier this month, appellate judges questioned why Stern was raising legal claims after giving consent to the DNA swabbing.

Stern was ordered to pay $10,000 in court costs for the abandoned appeal.

well almost a day here. We are supposed to be up in Bradenton by 7pm....not like anyone could come down here.....oh well. Hopefully it will go quickly....

did anyone do a trip report from the prior repo that included shore excursions?

Not knowing these ports all that well makes it hard especially when we don't have a full day there..back on board by 4 or so. In Cozumel, while we were traveling in a pack, I loved that we had a jeep and were on our own in a sense. I would like to rent a jeep in Aruba but am not sure how safe it is.

V....I found this on a cruise site I go to occasionally. If any of you DVC members know Sue (Comedy Warehouse expert (I don't know her, just read her DVC trip reports frequently)), it is from a cruise she went on in 04. She did an off road jeep tour in aruba...

By 6:30 I could see we were approaching Aruba. It was very smooth last
night, I guess because we were traveling so slowly. We finished up breakfast
before 7:30 and got ourselves ready to go ashore. Since our excursion calls for us
to wear swimsuits, I'll load up on sunscreen in case this jeep is open-air.
We got off the ship and met a couple from the Alaska/British Columbia border
(Bill & Marinka). A bus came and transported us to the place to get our jeeps
- bright yellow ones that seat 2 in front, 2 in back. There was no cover, so
we got completely windblown! As a total Miss Priss, I had to pretend like I
didn't mind getting my hair all messed up <g>.

Chris & I shared a jeep with Bill & Marinka, with the women in the back and
the men up front. Bill drove first, as we drove caravan-style (4 jeeps plus
the guide) towards Casibari Rock Formation. At first glance Aruba was
surprisingly flat, and soon it began to look like a barren desert. Tall cactus plants
were everywhere, along with palm trees. Goats roam all over the place, and
Marinka said they're somewhat sacred here. We saw several during our drive.
The Casibari Rock Formation is basically one of 2 big piles of huge rocks, which
have a steps up to the top (steps are other rocks). At one point we had to
duck through a short tunnel. The view up top was really nice, though. The
ship's videographer was with our tour, and I ordered a copy of the cruise video.
It'll have all of our ports, including the Panama Canal transit, and we
should be in it somewhere.

From Casibari Rock we continued to the northern coast to the Natural Bridge.
By this point we were off-road, bumping along kicking up dust! The surf is
very strong on this side of the island, crashing into the rocks along the
shore. The guide explained this side has lots of sharks too, while on the southern
coast the only sharks are the timeshare salespeople <g>. The Natural Bridge
is smaller than I expected it to be, but it was still cool to see. Basically,
the pounding surf eroded out a portion of the rock to form a natural bridge.

Chris took over driving from this point, as we bumped along the coast to the
historic gold mine ruins. Bill was a real instigator - as we approached a big
mud puddle that the other jeeps went around, Bill coached Chris on when to
accelerate and had him drive right thru the middle - kicking up a bunch of mud
onto the side of the car (& some onto Marinka). An old guy in the jeep ahead
of us later said that's what he wanted to do <g>). Bill had Chris looking for
the bumpiest ride - each time I caught him whispering or signaling to Chris I
knew he was up to something, and Chris had fun going along with his ideas. It
made the ride a lot of fun, though - and we didn't do anything that would
damage the jeep.

At the ruins we noticed many weird piles of rocks. People come and make a
wish, and stack a rock on another rock. Then someone else comes and makes their
wish and puts a rock on top of one of the stacks - so there were all these
funny-looking stacks of rocks everywhere! We kept driving, stopping at the Alto
Vista Chapel (historic site - catholic), then continued to the tip of the
island at the California Lighthouse (named after a ship named California ran
aground before the lighthouse was built). After this stop we were back on the
south side and stopped for about 20 minutes at a beach. The water was gorgeous,
and most of the people on our tour went swimming. I know there are several
timeshares DVC members can trade into on Aruba, and although I doubt I'd ever
give up Comedy Warehouse for Aruba, I would feel comfortable coming here if I
was looking for an island beach vacation.

After the beach stop we returned to the tour company office, where they drove
us in a mini bus back to the ship. In a nutshell, this excursion was GREAT -
I'd highly recommend it. We all agreed it was a fantastic way to see the
island, and we hit all the sights. There are also 4 wheel all terrain vehicles
you can rent, but I think I'd get tired of that after 3-4 hours! Chris said
this excursion was equal to the one we did on the glacier in Juneau, which is
very high praise.

I missed that one. I just saw a special on him the other night that was very good.

I saw that too, the true hollywood story one. I never did realize that he is still married! And, I was quite shocked to see his boys, not all what I expected them to look like. I do find him to be interesting...more in the sense that I have no idea what makes everyone love him so much and why 3 girls would all agree to be his girlfriend in differing ranks knowing he is married and there is no future with him. Then again, did hear they get a 10,000/month paycheck for being his girlfriend, so that might explain it.

:thumbsup2
Powerpoint is a part of MS Office for the Mac, and of course Apple makes a similar product called "Keynote". My experience is that Powerpoint presentations are easily ported to the Mac Version of Office.
And, of course, if you still really want that security of Windoze, you can run that too on a new Mac if you must, with either bootcamp, or parallels.
YOU CAN GET MS OFFICE FOR MAC, no need to lose anything! I love Office for Mac. Do you want a desktop? The 17" iMac is perfect starter unit.

Definately, only a laptop. When I do decide to bite the bullet, I will probably go into one of the mac stores and have them help me get everything I want. Can you get them with wireless internet cards built in? John, I thought you mentioned something about needed something else to connect.

Now, strange thing was I read it as Calmom, our fellow cruiser!!!:rotfl2: I couldn't understand why any translation was needed!!!:lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:
How is Calmom....are you out there Lisa? Haven't heard from you in a while, hope all is going OK.

In fact there are quite a few we haven't heard from in a while. I think the cruise is just such a long way away.:sad2: Some have other cruises which are taking their time at the moment.

It will be a different story this time next year I imagine!!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Yep, this is it. 2005 and it was $15.99 (normally priced $21.99). So I should drink this NOW right? :cool1: (They had quite a few sales Easter Sunday on assorted alcholic beverages.)

I have a bottle of Martini & Rosi Asti that's been in the refrigerator for oh, about seven years!!!! Should I just be throwing that out??? :lmao: :lmao:

You can give it a try and if it isn't too bad you can always cook with it!;)

Transatlantic translation required please. :confused3 In the UK, Calgon is something advertised that stops limescale building up in your washing machine!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Got a big cackle out of that one!

Calgon in the US is a soothing, bath soak item!

So Capt. Spanx and Elasto Boy and are off the hook for sure! Whew! :lmao:

All Macbooks and MacBook Pros have wireless built-in - no card needed. 80211-n in the new models. What I had mentioned earlier was no modem in the MaacBooks. I bought the $%*# thing for $44, just in case on this last trip and had no need for it. Most places anymore have either wireless access or ethernet access.

BTW- you can check out everything online at the Apple Store online at www.apple.com, and teachers, students, (and school board members) get discounts at the Apple store too!

Boy, quiet tonight . . .

I am watching the Indians beat the Angels 7-3, in a Milwaukee, which is a home game . . .

You read that right, an Indians home game in Milwaukee.

With the terrible weather and snow in Cleveland, and after the entire Mariners series was cancelled, they moved the entire Angels series to Milwaukee because of the dome (with the Brewers out of town).

$10 a seat, first come, first served for seating.

I REALLY wanted to go (had tickets for tonight's game in Cleveland).

Problem was, 8 hour drive, or $1000 last minute airfare.

Slider goes down the slide in a home run instead of Bernie Brewer.

The Italian Sausage just won the sausage race.

And they have over 19,000 fans there!

I read with a lot of interest everyone's postings on psychics . . .

Very interesting - but I am always a skeptic.

There is a part of me (and I believe all of us) that desperately wants to believe that such communication is possible. In fact I truly hope it can happen.

On the one hand, I have to see the scientific proof of such things, and know that there has never been absolute proof. On the other hand, I also beleive there are many things that science has not explained, and that defy current explanation. I used to dabble in magic (the magician kind, not the dark arts) when I was a kid. There was a magician called the Amazing Randi that made a career out of debunking psychics, and even offered a $100,000 reward for absolute proof. It was never collected.

But like most people, I would like to be able to communicate with those I love that I have lost - especially my mom.

It also hit home with me because my Mother in Law told me yesterday that someone I went to High school with was in the obituaries last week (I missed it). While this girl was not a close friend, I sat by her in some classes, had her dad as a teacher in middle school, and always really liked her as a person.

It was sad to hear she had died, but also a bit spooky. I never saw her after High school, but just last week after leaving my Mother in Law's house, I went home and drove past where I knew she had lived while we were in school, and wondered to myself how she was doing. Then I now find out she died. Went online, read her obit, and saw the nice slideshow that was posted with pictures of her, her family, children, and husband. So sad to see.

So, I have an open mind, but am not a believer in psychics.
