Once again, sorry for so many pics! We just had such a fun day (again) that I can't help sharing. :goodvibes Sunday is the only full day Tyler and I get together each week, so we try to make the most of it.

And the firefighter stuff has been such a big part of our lives for 3 years, so I can't help but sharing! ;) Just how long do kids' obsessions last?! Lots of firefighter have told me they acted just like him when they were his age. Funny! :firefight The love for pirates has been competing with firefighters on and off for a while, so occasionally he dresses up as a firefighting pirate. Now THAT'S something I should get a picture of, but always forget at the time! It's quite an interesting combination costume! :rotfl2: Silly boy!pirate:

If the gross number of births were the indicator, births began to decline from the peak in 1957 (4,300,000) but fluctuated or did not decline by much more than 40,000 (1959-1960) to 60,000 (1962-1963) until a sharp decline from 1964 (4,027,490) to 1965 (3,760,358). This makes 1964 a good year to mark the end of the baby boom in the U.S.

There were five of us also, but all girls. Many of the families we knew had five children. Our family was 1950, 1956, 1961, 1964 and 1967. My mother was a career woman who planned two children. After an "accident" in 1961, she decided to have one more and the last one was another "accident".

The eldest 1947 in our family, then a 1949 (hmm who could that be) then my bro 1950 - parents so happy a boy came into the trio. My mom said to my dad she just felt like it wasn't complete. But miscarried - so she thought, "well I guess we are finished" and then my dad had a bowling championship -mom won the "****y" prize (a bottle of wine) and guess what? Yep, 1959 and the "surprise accident" ME was born.

What a blessing to be the "surprise" and to know how happy it made my mom and dad - knowing that in fact the family wasn't complete.

For my older syblings - their toy. At least that is what they tell me. I have the scars to prove it!

I love getting dressed to the nines. DH once played a trick on me telling me we were going to a formal dinner when it was actually a bar-b-que. So here I am in a formal gown and mink coat....pretty funny as I just had to roll with the flow.

Climbing the tower of Pisa should not be a problem. From 1990 to 2004, the internal steps of Leaning Tower of Pisa were closed to the public, out of concern for both structure and visitors. Tourists can now climb the 294-step spiral staircase to the belfry - as a million people did prior to 1990. Planning is essential as only a limited number of people are allowed in the tower and queues, particularly during high season (July/August), may have a long waiting time.

If you want to book on your own, tours to the top of the tower take place every half hour or so with a maximum of forty people per group; no under 8 years of age are allowed. You can save yourself a long wait by booking tickets in advance on http://www.opapisa.it/?id=15&L=1&T=2(€2 booking fee). The narrow climb up 294 worn steps at a 5 degree angle can be fairly disorienting, and sadly you can no longer step out onto the surrounding balconies, but you do get good views of Pisa's spires and rooftops, with the Monte Pisano hills in the background. Also, there is a multi lingual iPod tour available by switching on your iPod once on the spot. Really, all that is needed is an MP3 player to listen to the "narrations" while visiting the monumental complex. You can also listen to the podcast on the site I previously mentioned.

A couple of website advertise tours of Pisa:
http://www.viator.com/search/leaning tower of pisa
http://www.italianvisits.com/tours/tuscany/index.htm
http://manstouch.co.uk/italy/florence/pisa-tours.html

When DH and I were there, you couldn't climb. They had huge metal "strapes" on the tower, as they were attemtping to control the lean. What a great little city, though - one of my fondest memories of our Italy trip!

When DH17 Daniel was his age he was obsessed with the US Presidents. At 4 he could tell you the names of each president, when they served and their wives names. For his 4th birthday, we gave him the choice of the visiting the White House or Kings Dominion (an amesement park). The White House won hands down. The secret service guys were so impressed this litttle guy knew every painting on the tour that they checked to see if he could meet Bill Clinton.....didn't happen.....

It lasted till he was about 6. He hates hates hates me telling this story. If I did not have it on video tape (I should put that on YOUTUBE>>>then he could really hate me!!) he would completely deny it!! (He can still name every president, wifes and dates of service.....but will not admit it very often)

Another one of his friends was obsessed with the space shuttle. He could name every part of the space shuttle and how it worked. That was totally amazing.....

That also lasted till he was about 6....1st grade. I guess they get other interests then with school and stuff.

Nope, my sis was married to Bob who now lives in the Kay's old house off of Camelback. My neice, Dana Kay, is named after Kay.

Kay - what a GREAT lady! What a small world - it sometimes just amazes me. I don't remember her boys - much - good looking I remember that. But what a gracious lady Kay is... pure "Lady".

Paintball just sounds painful! Although, you know, with all this 'change of life' nonesense, there are days when I wouldn't mind just shooting something! Oh lord, how many posts ago was the PEACE OUT :hippie: comment?

So funny I just posted about Kay being a lady...too.

I guess we are sister and I WAS NOT adopted!!! You crack me up - want me to bring my bat over for you to beat some pillows with?

I always WANTED to try paintball - but now that my sweet gentle sister wants to hit someone _ I better NOT!!!  :lmao:

Can you make it blue?

Oh goodie, three checked bags is the answer I wanted! The two largest rolling and the tote. The tote is very rectangular and will hold a mess of shoes (something tells me I may be transporting and storing some of TiggersPal's shoes too!).

I'm never going to live down that cruise with the shoe am I?

:rotfl2: People ask me all the time if I get bored going to the fire station all the time and ask how I can stand it.....Um.....DUH! :lmao:

More great photos, Holly!!

Wish I had such a boring "job" taking kids to the firestation...

Sounds like you had a great day! Even with cow smell!

How cute about Daniel and his friend! Makes sense about school and other interests of that stage of life taking over, so maybe 6 will be the magic age for Tyler to move on too. Every day when he tells me he's going to be a real firefighter some day because he wants to save people, I tell him "that's great and there are other things you can be too and still save people". He also wants to be a pirate too so he can be on a ship all the time. :rotfl:

so now...John wants to be top 5 (he was 23 overall yesterday) and do the Olympic distance race....big dreams..

My boss 55 just did his first Tri - this past September. His last name? KEMPER!

Isn't that funny? His family is from Chicago - any relation?

I have to post this VA Tech story that just came to me via e-mail from my chruch.....it is so uplifting!!

Jarrett Lane, a civil engineering major from Narrows, Va., was in Dr. G.V. Loganathan's classroom in Norris Hall when he was shot and killed. A senior and recipient of a special scholarship for engineering students, he had just celebrated his 22nd birthday in March.

His former teachers at Narrows High School spoke of him today in glowing terms, remembering him as a talented student, four-sport athlete, and valedictorian.

"He was an exceptional young man," said the school principal, Robert Stump. "Very quiet and humble, and very popular."

Mr. Stump said the small school of 330 students and the close-knit community of Narrows, which is 25 miles west of Blacksburg, was in shock over Mr. Lane's death.

"He was always one of the hardest workers," Mr. Stump said. "One time, after he'd had a good basketball game, he went up to the coach, and said, 'Coach, what do I have to work on so that we can be better. '"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This story will get no press in the main stream media. It's a story a little too religious. It's a story that might be a little too politically incorrect in certain editor's boardrooms; nonetheless it's a story that must be heard. It must be told.

On Sunday morning on April the 15th 2007, Jarret Lane was attending services at the First Baptist Church of Narrows, Virginia. It might have been a Sunday service like any other Sunday morning service: Sunday School followed by opening comments followed by Praise and Worship, followed by the Sunday sermon, followed by an altar call, followed by the benediction and dismissal.

But on this particular Sunday, during the altar call Jarrett Lane responded to a stirring, to a still small voice in his heart telling him to go forward. He stepped out of his seat, walked down the aisle to the front of the small Church and prayed with the pastor to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Jarret Lane had doubtless heard many times in his lifetime the admonition "this might be your last opportunity to accept Christ." It might have been easy to override the still small voice and leave for Sunday lunch, but instead he listened, No! He heard. He heeded. He obtained forgiveness. He experienced the Love and Grace of the Son of God. It was a glorious day for Jarrett.

Less than 24 hours later Jarret Lane was killed along with 31 other innocent victims by depraved and angry shooter Cho Seung-Hui on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

At my place of employment, the news of Jarrett's salvation came to me via E-mail. With tears in my eyes, I spread the news to several more friends who also wept with joy. Then I told some other friends from my Church in Pearisburg, Virginia. We all wept together! I watched very undemonstrative people become demonstrative and utter "PRAISE GOD!" as tears filled their eyes. There was something very special about this story, for you see this entire community has heard nothing but darkness, sadness, and news of despair and despondency. The repetitive scenes and endless discussions of death, injury, and insanity kept appearing on our television sets.

This blackness was followed by conversations, E-mails, phone calls and endless debates at work, home and play of the same darkness, which has so pervaded our community. This tiny pinprick of light, this story about Jarrett Lane has helped roll back the clouds, which have been hanging over us. It has brought us a ray of hope. Brought a smile to our faces. Replaced tears of sorrow and horror with those of joy and inspiration. May all of Christendom read this Story. May all Christians everywhere hear and rejoice. Grace, Grace, Sweet Grace!

Some one mile from the tiny town of Narrows, Virginia (where Jarrett was from), I along with about 100 other parents and friends had gathered at 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 18 2007 to send our High School kids on a 5 day Symphonic Chorale trip to Orlando Florida. The Virginia Tech shootings were still fresh and raw in every mind. I was moved beyond words to watch the students, faculty, and parents slowly form one huge circle, hands enjoined, in the Parking lot for prayer. Later I noticed that parents were hugging their kids a little tighter, a little longer, a few more times. They said, "I love you" and looked their kids in the eyes. I think Jarrett smiled. The darkness is lifting from our community. My prayer is that Parents and their Children everywhere will come to know Christ so that in the event that they send their Loved ones out one day, and it turns out to be the last day, that they will have obtained that beautiful hope that says "We shall embrace again one day". Jarrett Lane's dear mother has that hope. She has that assurance.

Jarrett is home now. He's home. Thank God almighty He's home.

Please pray for our community.

That made me cry, which doesn't happen very often! Thanks so much for sharing with all of us! I'd like to share that with a few friends too, if you don't mind.

Sharing it is what is wanted!! The main stream news media would not report it...so they are hoping the story will be shared though the internet!!

It really gives me hope!!

I just copied and pasted into an e-mail to a bunch of friends. :grouphug:

Now that Desperate Housewives is over, and I'm done playing here, I suppose I'd better drag myself to bed. Tons of errands to run after work tomorrow afternoon, so it will be a busy & tiring day. Goodnight everybody! Magical dreams to all! Oh! That reminds me! Last night I had a dream that Tyler and I came home from a cruise and his dad was here PAINTING the outside of my house, his stepmom was painting the inside of my house, one of them had mowed our lawn, and they had landscaped my backyard! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Tyler and I usually tell each other our dreams in the morning.....but that's definitely one I'm not sharing with him! I can just see him telling his dad & stepmom about it! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have been reading every day but not posting much as DD came home to do interviews for either an internship/job in either a law firm or a pr agency in the SF Bay area.

Hey Noel, I'd been wondering where you were! Good to hear from you. I've gotten a little behind, but hope to catch up while watching Extreme Home Makeover.:goodvibes

Having been to San Pedro several times, it's not a very pretty place and the Ports of Call shopping center has seen better, much better days.

I took my sister there to eat at the fish market a couple of years ago. It was hilarious--she was afraid to touch anything! It was such a cool place back in the day when we were teenagers and went there with our family during our summer vacations (mid-late 60s)

Here's a link to a video I took out of San Pedro last year. I thought some of you might enjoy it (Ibouncetoo, TiggersPal, NotSoLittleMermaid).;)

Thanks--I'm so jealous! Wish I could've seen it!

DD was absativly posolutely going to be a veterinarian up till about 6 or 7!

Now she wants to be a chef and go to the CIA in Hyde Park, NY!! We'll see how long this lasts!

Miss Molly said she wanted to be a dog groomer. Lately it's been a marine biologist. Wilson race car driver or baseball player.
