OK I would be willing to put myself in charge of lanyards if nobody else is doing that yet. I can front the money to purchase them then either sell to you all at cost or do a donation type thing where people chip in til the balance is paid. So a few questions.

What colors would you all like it in?
What would be a good saying to have imprinted on it?
Would you all want a DIS "badge" too or just the lanyard?
I kind of like the idea of making badges complete with pictures. Would be cool imo. Could make them like the cast wears with dis name and our home location.
I could mail them out to you all from home if that would work for everyone. Someone had mentioned $5 but even custom ones with nice hardware is still under $5 each.
Any other suggestions?

You can either reply in the thread or by sending me a PM. I am off the boards to head out to do a little retail therapy and shall return to the dis sometime after 9:30 pm and read any suggestions.

Duh, I just read this and I had just pmed you and Krisann. Never mind my pm... Whatever is decided I'll help out just let me know what I can do.
:goodvibes

Jan,

Bobby looks like he is doing very well(no leak?) and that he enjoyed his visit with you.

He does have a slow leak (Wish I could lose weight as easily as he does) but some air pumps him up as easily as a cookie gets me fluffier.

Bible Study was today. Bobby posed by my church. He is still waiting for Holly to send her address so he can get ON THE ROAD AGAIN (He thinks that should be his Theme Song).

Or did I now effectively put everyone who WAS here to sleep now?

I'm still here. Thanks for the recap on the apple info. We're still PC people but I do have 2 iPods so the info about the DVDs is great. For Christmas I received the new Die Hard DVD and it comes with a free digital download of the movie but it won't play on iPods (or so it says). Hope they all switch to that as we do buy a lot of DVD's.

Anyone planning to see Cloverfield this weekend?

Or 27 Dresses?

We're going to Cloverfield Friday night - don't want to wait too long and possibly encounter a spoiler.

Tonight while Amy was at that cooking class (she really enjoyed it BTW) Sophia and I got dinner, went to Ballet, did homework, got a bath, and read two chapters of HP. Full night for me.

Tomorrow we have another levy meeting, and we are having it in our theater hoping for 1,000 concerned people to show up in support. We are pulling out all the stops this time.

The Board member next in line to be President asked me if I would do it again if she stepped aside (her parents are very ill). I agreed (I'm a sap) and now I am President of the Board again in what will probably be the most difficult year our school district has ever faced. Letters to the editor every day ridiculing the board for asking for more money and making cuts in bussing as we slash our budget.

When I agreed, I had forgotten that I had Union contracts to negotiate this year too . . . :scared1:

So tomorrow night I have to speak, and have spent the day thinking about what to say when I preach to 1,000 members of the choir (supporters)

I now figure I can make it through the year only because of this cruise!

If you ever asked me when I was 29 where I thought I would live when I was 59 I would never have said Indy. At that time of my live I had lived only in upstate NY and Long Island. But, God has brought us here via DH's jobs and we are loving this city. The people are great! We have a downtown condo in a building that used to be a glove factory. If you ever come back, please get in touch!!

And MY BABY is 31. His brother is 27. there used to be some little boys in my life, but not now. Then again, they are such neat adult friends!! And through them we have met some other really great young adults--their friends and our Daughter-in-law!:bride:

Jan :earsgirl:

For sure! When we get that motorhome rolling Indy is definately on our list of places to spend a bit of time. We will exchange emails/phone #'s or something to stay in touch.

Tiffany-Amber Theisan from Saved by the Bell was in it.

oh I was thinking it was the book you had mentioned early. it was the lifetime movie, I get it now...:rolleyes1 I'm on a dumb roll tonight I think.:cool2: :sad2: :lmao:

let's see...
1. turn on water, adjusting temp to warm.
2. rinse hands, add at least 1 tsp soap
3. scrub vigorously in circular motions, being sure to scrub the nails of each hand against the opposite palm.
4. keeping hands pointed down rinse throughly.
5. get a paper towel with your elbow and dry your hands.
6. using a DIFFERENT paper towel turn off the water (this is the part screwed up on, used the same wet towel)
7. Using yet ANOTHER paper towel open the bathroom door and go about your business.

Just jumped in the middle, so not sure where this started, but I still wash my hands this way almost everywhere. That comes from 17 years working in hospitals. I even carry a spare paper towel, in my pocket, should the restroom be out of them. heh heh. How compulsive is that?

it's horribly sad, and I hate any missing persons case especially when there is no ending. I think it's one of John's concerns about venturing off on our own...

I think if we stay sober and stay with a buddy we will be fine. Simple safety rules that apply anywhere. So sad that we can't make our children remember these rules when they become young adults. :sad2: I cannot even imagine how the parents are coping.

Much better to see Bobby at Bible study than hanging out in a bar! :rotfl:

OK, all the non-techies can skip this post . . . Kaylee asked, so I am giving my thoughts on MacWorld and Steve Job's Keynote.

Steve went over four items

#2 was iPhone. Since no one here seems to have or talk about iPhones (including me) I'll make it brief. Some new apps, (maps with directions as an example) rolled out for free to current owners, and the same apps now available on the iPod touch for a $20 upgrade charge. Mail is one of them, so now you can get your email on an iPod touch with a Wi-Fi connection. But, no 3g phone, no larger capacity. I am still holding out for an updated touch with more memory - maybe even a built in camera like the iPhone.

Hope I didn't bore anyone. Some guys like Go-Carts, I love gadgets and computers - especially Macs.

I actually was interested in hearing about the iPhone upgrades. I got a blackberry (but it's red so I call it a rasberry) in Dec. I wanted the iPhone, but went with the berry because of the key board. I've been on the fence about my choice that iPhone is soooooo sexy. My sis has one, and my friend got one for Xmas. I figure I'll get it sooner than later, maybe I need a touch instead. I really want it to show off my pictures (of the kids) and listen to music, but not thru ebuds. I like being able to use the iphone as a mini boom box if you will. I'd like something to watch movies on too, does all that sound like the iTouch?

About the cars vs techno gadgets, i think because we are all about them for work, and mostly for our clients stuff too we get a feeling of ehhh, whatever, but you have a place where you don't deal with it all day (I'm assuming) so more interested in them. Of course if money was no object I suspect that DH would have all the gadgets running on his go-karts :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

John...thanks for the summary. You answered my ? about the new laptop. Still on the fence deciding what to do...someday! Ok, so here is a silly question: how can they take back a movie off your ipod? Is it encoded somehow to only play for 24 hours? If so, that is so scary how far technology has come!

Yes Nan,

The Touch is the phone - just without a phone and a camera. You can also get double the gb capacity of the phone - 16gb. I would love to have one, and am waiting just a little bit before I make that leap - maybe the 2nd generation of this product.

Anyway . . .

http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ for more info.

Got to get to bed.

Good night West Coast. Good Morning UK.

By the way, since we were talking of 'series' books...Janet Evanovich's lastest just came out at the beginning of the month. It is an in between Stephanie Plum novel..Plum Lovin' is the title if I remember correctly. I'll probably pick that up at the airport tomorrow and read it during my lovely red eye!

It looks like I am flying back east for no real reason but I will go to the conference with my fingers crossed hoping they feel pity for me and let me in. Otherwise, my mom and I will visit all the places we used to go with my grandparents when they lived on Anna Maria Island, and then head to WDW :cool1: Spending 1 night at AKL and 1 night at Pop Century. My first time to WDW not staying at DVC...it will be weird. I booked too late and it is a 3 day weekend.

Monica, I think we are going to Epcot on Sunday for the day if you happen to be heading there, PM me!

I don't know the specifics Kaylee, but yes, it is encoded to only be playable for 24 hours. At that point I do not know if it self-destructs, or is just a useless file that cannot be opened. They don't really take it back, it just becomes unplayable. Another company actually tried similar technology in DVD's that you did not have to return - they became unreadable after a certain amount of time. Yes, technology has come that far.

John,

Glad and sad to hear that you are acting as President. I get why it's important to do these things, but after our longggggg year (actually 2+) with our charter school issues, Paul was on the board and leading the fight, I realized that his time was better spent right now on our family first. I hope you don't feel squeezed in the middle and have to sacifice your fmaily time for this board calling. Lately, I've been advocating to our friends, just say NO!!! to the volunteer stuff. Sounds not nice I understand, but I've watched so many of the same people do all the work around me and I'm just feeling tired of it and tired for them. ok vent over. and your school district/area is very lucky to have you :goodvibes

what was with AI to night?

kaylee, I love non tech people :lovestruc The wonder of it all. ok, that was a bit snotty of me huh? I'm a software nerd from the accounting perspective, that's how I learned it...

This is really easy peasy, many software products have codes that expire just built right into them.

very common in B2B software, now it is just being used for consumer products.

Thanks Kelly, these are great tools to use....and I'll do anything as long as it helps. Right now I'm doing a small ziploc bag of cheerios, eating them one at a time and lots of water and cinnamon gum, sugarless of course. Everything helps.....that's what has kept me honest to date.

I'm a little bummed.....I got on the scale and learned that I gained 5 lbs in the past week and I've been doing the exact same diet. I've even started doing some exercises. I should have lost more, but instead gained. I think it's the metabolism changes from not smoking anymore. It's ok though because I read where the metabolism will readjust after a while, so I just have to give it some more time and continue with the diet and exercises. Eventually, it will even out and I should start losing again. It's a little discouraging though because I was doing so well with the weight loss.

Deb,

As I'm sure you know... weight loss is an up and down thing.

I think that your attitude about your body readjusting it's metabolism is right on the money! Just keep on doing what your doing!! We are all so proud of you!!

XO,

Karen
