Holly,

We were pretty cold last week, for Northern Cal, but it has been around 70 the last 3 days in the wine country, and even warmish here in Bodega Bay. The heater hasn't turned on hardly at all, which is great as we are on Propane here and it is quite pricey!

Sorry to gloat...:cool1:

Karen

Yeah, yeah....rub it in some more! ;) Well, it's OK because this will be the last high heat bill of the season.

My turn :offtopic:

the kids are in deep doo doo tonight...

Molly with the help from little brother Wilson worked on her poster for school about no bullying..."expect respect" drew with permanate markers on the poster paper WITHOUT any thing under it....bleed thru on the hardwood (just refinished floors)

DH is on his hands and knees with Magic Easers, OFF, Goo be gone, hairspray and lots of elbow grease trying to get the stain out of the floor.

This will be known as the "permanate marker incident" :crazy2:

send forgiveness prayers for my children....

:worship: mom & dad we are soooooo sorry

how come they never believe us as parents? Oh yeah, I remember because we know it all as kids right???

OH NO!!! Just remember a kids' mind doesn't get the concept of refinished floors (and the expense that goes along with). Molly was probably dilligently trying to make sure she had a great final product to take to school and was probably really proud of the job she was doing (until realizing what happened to the floor :crazy2: ). BUT I really feel for you and your floors! Oh my gosh! Please don't kill them! I'd hate for you to have prison interfere with going on this cruise! :rotfl2:

any one watching tv tonight???

I'm on Amazing Race all stars now....sooon DH, we are sooooo happy here to watch something new :)

I love Deck 2 Forward. I have stayed in this part of the ship 4 times and I have never had any noise at all. It is right below Sessions....which is a quiet bar...piano bar I think. Anyway......this is great are disembarking and so close the the Walt Theatre!! You will love this partr of the ship!!

My first job was 1971 as well!! How long did you live live in Delaware....you don't often meet people from DL. We have a second home in Southern Delaware....Slower, Lower, Delaware!!

Oh, I feel so much better about our rooms now. Thanks for that info!

I lived in Wilmington from 1965 - 1975. 4th grade through 12th plus 1. I haven't been back there since 1978 but would love to go visit some day. I do miss the beaches.

we're okay now, it mostly came off.

Funny thing is now that we have the cruise on the horizon they both totally get the concept of $$$. All the money we don't spend on crap now we get to have for the crap on the cruise.

They are both in bed (ha, got them to go on time without complaining...) and soon to sleep.

Oh, I am having some fun . . .

We are getting quite devious aren't we?!?! I just ADORE it....teehee! By the way, "FLUFF" is the best! Hard to find out here (that brand) but I love it!

Love that name...Thief family reunion! GREAT!

JOBS....
My first job was working at The Broadway (I was 16) in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. Now the store is Bloomingdales!!! First college job was at Apple Computer...I was the UC Irvine on-campus college rep, shortly after the original Mac came out. First "real" job (and my only) after college was at Parker Hannifin (aerospace). I negotiated and managed the government contracts the company had with the US Navy, which entailed managing about $33 million of tax payers money per annum. I loved it, but when my son came, the game was over. So, after 12 years of being there I left to be an at home mommy. It was a tough adjustment, but now I love my job being a "Domestic Engineer". A lot of my collegues critized me for giving up my career and cautioned me that I would be back....but that was 6 years ago!

Lisa,

You didn't give up work or your career!! You just traded one rewarding job for another even more rewarding (and much harder) job!!:worship:

Karen

Carol & Doug:

Thanks so much for the fish extenders. We got them in the mail yesterday and the kids are allready planning what they are going to decorate their pockets with. I think we will make the one year away date the date to decorate....and start the count down in some fun way, not sure what yet.

Thanks again for making them so quick and beautifully :goodvibes

Wow! That's great money for a 12 year old! :thumbsup2

The common job in our area was corn husking. When you mention that dreaded job, everybody cringes! Parents strongly encouraged their kids to do it and kids did it because they didn't think it could possibly be as bad as all the other kids said. People came into the schools to recruit kids and made it sound like such an easy way to earn lots of money over the summer. Fortunately, I never had to do that. Kids I know who did it told about bleeding fingers, long hot days in the sun, up before dawn, sore backs and other muscles from all the bending over all day. Awful job. :sad2:

Mine was working as a "party girl" true title. We served the banquets at the University. I was 15.

Now, DH was 12 and had to get up every morning at 5 a.m. to move sprinkler pipe and then again later and again later....

I'm bugging DH to tell me his first job....he says picking weeds, mowing lawns, babysitting...real W-2 job, in a auto shop that repaired cyclindar heads (okay whatever):confused3

Okay, it is 12:46am on the East Coast and I need to get up at 6am for church. (I don't think I have told you guys my DH is a minister...that is a different story)...

Anyway, I never stay up this late. Right now there are 8 seventeen year olds in our media room playing xbox.....much rather have them here....keep lots and lots of teenage foods around....but that is a different story as well.

I was thinking about Lisa's (CALMOM) friend and I wanted to spend some time before sleep and really pray for her. Then I thought I would check out web prayer chain and see if anyone there needed any prayers.

Dear friends of ours with 2 little boys.....their oldest was attacked by a rabid Raccoon.....the Raccoon attacked him in their back yard this evening and his leg was all torn up. He is at the hospital right now and they are doing whatever it you need to do to start the Rabies treatment. His name is Stephen....and he is 7 years old. If you are lead, please pray for him this evening.....I understand this is a very difficult treatment.....

Oh my! That is awful! Poor little boy!! I am just sick for him and his parents.

At least it wasn't intentional - such a relief. My 4 year old (today also) wrote all over my 6 year old DS's Barbie (another story some other day). Anyway, I wouldn't have known if I hadn't sneaked up on him in the family room as he was trying to quickly hide the evidence. WWIII right here in our house when Jack found his Barbie undressed and vandalized! Meanwhile, my 4 year old went off to play with his trucks. He said he doesn't apologize (this is the one that kept telling his brothers he "was the chosen one" after reading his fortune cookie).

Life with kids. I know we will miss these days but sometimes I wonder if we will survive them first!:upsidedow

Whew! I'm glad it mostly came off! How frustrating that must have been!

:offtopic:
Has anyone noticed that the time on the post is not correct? I've noticed it for a while, but thought I would keep track. Seems like it is off by about forty minutes.:confused3

Ok - check this limo bus out: http://www.a1limobus.com/new_limo_bus.htm
The photos aren't great but you get the idea: largest limo bus in Florida! :drive: 50 passengers! party: Between the two hummerized vehicles and this one, we could take the whole crew from MCO! Actually, when our vehicles pull up, those that purchased transfers through Disney will be looking so sad: :sad1: We will wave :wave2: and tell them we will save them a seat at the Mickey Pool :p

LOVE IT!

They bad mouthed our fearless leader, AuntyBrat. We LOVE our leader!!!

This is not the first group to bad mouth me, and they won't be the last, but they ALL live to regret it!! Ask my friends ex husbands...they all remember the last time they had a run in with me...some of them can even speak of it without twitching or losing bladder control....you never mess with Aunty Brat :scared:

The internet is wonderful isn't it? Amazing we can all talk together, albeit at different times of our days! Yes, 4.29pm at the moment. We're watching Logan's Run on the TV. The city always reminds
Ah, it is an oldish UK film, so you may not have ever seen it. It has become one of those cult films!

OMG that was and is one of my all time favorite movies. And dang if he still isn't scrumpdillicious!!!

Hope you guys are having a super Saturday night!

Question for today . . . How many of you have pets, and what kind?

We have a dog (Labradoodle - 1/2 lab and 1/2 poodle, chocolate colored), four tropical fish, and two hermit crabs.

I have not 1, not 2 but 3 chihuahuas! Or as my DD called them when she was little chichiwawas. Violet, Buster and Betty. Violet is a Tuxedo, Buster is a long hair tuxedo and an idiot savant of a dog. I love him but he is dumber than a box of rocks. Betty is one we adopted after fostering her for the local rescue group. She had been a breeder dog and kept in a cage so long that her back end is permanently tweaked. She now thinks she is the fiercest thing in town.

Ok, when I asked about iPods, I had another point to it . . . we did this on our other thread, and it was fun to see what turned up . . . If you have an iPod, put it on "shuffle" and list the first ten songs that come up on your iPod.

Here are mine . . .

1. Leader of the Band - Dan Fogleberg
2. Island Girl - Elton John
3. Lipstick Vogue - Elvis Costello
4. Summer Sunshine - The Corrs
5. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da - Jim Brickman
6. Sweet Talkin' Woman - Electric Light Orchestra
7. I want You (She's So Heavy) - The Beatles
8. A Moment Lost - Enya
9. Honky Tonk Women - The Rolling Stones
10. I Fought the Law - Green Day

I have 2,149 items in my Music Library - 5.3 days worth of music!

Ok the first 10 on mine are:
unknown because my daughter just took the shuffle to fix it for me!!!
What do you do Papa Roach
Something by High School Musical
My Fist Papa Roach
Trapped in a Drive Thru Weird Al
Twisted Transistor Korn
Unbreakable Aiden
Under the Milky Way Kill Hannah
Unknown Soldier Breaking Benjamin
Until the End Breaking Benjamin
Vampires will never hurt you My Chemical Romance

OK....to give John1 a break from coming up with a new topic, what was everybody's first job and at what age?

Me: Age 14 (1984) -- worked in the cafeteria of a tiny college serving meals to the students. It was called Nazereth College, was primarily a nursing school, and was only a mile down the road from my mom's house so I walked. It had one main building for classrooms and the cafeteria, and one dorm wing attached. Another part of my job was to serve at banquets they also held there on weekends, then clean up afterwards and do dishes.

Yeah, really exciting....I know. Just another topic starter! :thumbsup2

Ok, my first job was setting up and taking down and cleaning up after bingo at the local Catholic church. Now what made this such an unusual job was that I was not Catholic and was in fact a practicing LDS, but it paid great and I got to hang out with my friends for work. Of course this probably also explains why I don't like playing bingo on cruises!! :rotfl:

Have a good weekend and watch out for those rabid racoons!!! Hope he is doing well by the end of the week!!!

Our beautiful fish extender has arrived! Now that I have sat and admired it I must send it off to my dSis (swampie - a board reader-holic and professional lurker) to decorate for us :artist: !

THANK YOU :) :) !
