Count my DH and I in on the Parrot Head count!!

DH could hang out at the Bar on Castaway Cay just to listen to the looping Buffet tracks!! (Nothing to do with DOD, of course!!)

Karen

Do I hear another event in the planning?! A CC bar parrot head "karoake" event?! :rotfl2: Really though, if I actually opened my mouth to sing 1. everyone would run away fast! :) and 2. it would mean I did have 1 too many of the DOD's! :lmao:

Thanks everyone re dd's Russia trip :( John, there were several US and Canadian schools involved as well and i know Becky and her pals were looking forward to meeting up with students from all over the world.

The trouble is they are booked to fly out on the 15th March, and have been told the visa's will take at least another 14 days to process....even if they managed to collect the xtra money from everyone it just doesn't leave enough time...and then there are no guarantees they'll get them still! Sucks big time :(

There's bureaucracy for you I guess:headache:

I know Becky was looking forward to being able to use this on her University application too:(

Ah well....

So sorry to hear about that :sad2: I was in Model UN in HS and ran a HS program at my undergrad but we only got to travel to a university within the state for our state competition. oh the joys of red tape:mad:

3 ipods for us...actually I have an ipod (not sure what kind, it lives in it's docking station/speakers in the kitchen, can't get used to the things in my ears.) and the kids have MP3s from Disney of course...Tink & Cars, got 'em at Target :cheer2:

off for drama class, skateboard class and cookie booths. Man I lead an exciting life huh? okay I'm reliving my youth thru my kids I admit it :goodvibes

catch ya later today :yay:

Has anyone been to the "other" board recently??? They are making fun of us, saying how slow we are and can you believe they are only posting x pages per day or only on post # xxxx! :confused3 beware, they were planning a pirate: over here to increase our post totals!

I for one am quite happy with our post count!:) It's quality not quantity that counts!!! Tell them to stay over their side of the canal!pirate:

Ok - Well, I'm sure I'll get to know you all better as time goes by - -as long as I get the hang of staying on the boards :).

Welcome aboard Sandy!!

Ok, I need to catch up, I need to join the lose it cruiser thread, I need a glass (or two) of wine from Karen's wine shop, I need a new pair of shoes from Norsdrom (sorry John Jhalkias- don't mean to start a shoe talk again), I need this cruise to be sooner!

Spent the whole day in ICU. My friend (diagnosis last Thursday w/cancer) has too many clots in her arms and neck area. :sad2: Her husband has the flu so can't visit and they don't let children of course in ICU so she can't see her little girl either. Ugg. Messy, chaotic communication as we traveled from radiology to ICU to cath/radiology lab. She decided to do the infertilty testing and post-pone chemo and start radiation first. I'm being supportive but scared about her choice - this type of cancer (non-hodgkins, large B cell) protocol is chemo first. But she really wants another baby and feels the IVF thing is her only chance. But hormone shots? I don't know. Just seems like she should focus every bit of energy fighting this cancer (and right now blood clots). Thanks for listening...no need to respond- I know you are all out there  now back to John's favorite subject::goodvibes

Maybe I'll go to Neiman Marcus for a pair of shoes tomorrow. Wish it was time for a last call sale! Wait a minute...I have to save for this cruise so maybe I'll just dream of Jimmy Choo tonight! :cloud9:

Ok - off to catch up. Lisa

I think all you can do is support her decision. I remember my sister going through all of the fertility stuff and I understand your concerns. Can't she just freeze her eggs or do they have to be fertilized?

Never shop at Needless Markup, Lisa but if you are going to Nordie's that is a different!!

Welcome, Sandy. There are several of us couples in 50's& 60's.

Lisa, :grouphug:

John and I are one of those couples in both age brackets!!

The kids are all really bummed (as are the staff)....Becky has been out and bought lots of warm weather gear for Russia which has cost her a fortune. What a wasted opportunity for them all........To say we're not happy with the Embassy is an understatement!

Sorry just had to get rid of my frustrat:mad: ion

Thanks everyone re dd's Russia trip :( John, there were several US and Canadian schools involved as well and i know Becky and her pals were looking forward to meeting up with students from all over the world.

Ah well....

I was hoping for a miracle before I read the second post. It seems to me this is a heaven sent oppotunity for some location politician to step in and help, thus gaining some free positive publicity for his/herself.

3 ipods for us...actually I have an ipod (not sure what kind, it lives in it's docking station/speakers in the kitchen, can't get used to the things in my ears.) and the kids have MP3s from Disney of course...Tink & Cars, got 'em at Target :cheer2::

Only DD's, DS's and respective family members have IPODS. John and I listed to music either on the computer on on CD's in car that we have made. We have enough electronic gadgets to carry as it is. Typically on air flights, I read or watch a movie on the puter.

HUH!!!! The cheek of it!!! Must stop using multi-quote!;)

So true, it's not doing anything for my posting rate either!:lmao:

Has anyone been to the "other" board recently??? They are making fun of us, saying how slow we are and can you believe they are only posting x pages per day or only on post # xxxx! :confused3 beware, they were planning a pirate: over here to increase our post totals!

They're just jealous 'cause we're efficient Thieves! Not Plundering Pirates!:rotfl2:

I have started Mutli-Quoting other threads, too. So sad:rolleyes1 Saves time when the boss is watching over the shoulder, though. If I didn't DIS at work, I would NEVER stay caught up with the thread, there are not enough hours in the day. Wish I could knit and type at the same time. I need one of those voice recognition thingies, on my computer then we'd have a million posts! I can talk about nothing forever like nobody's business.

At this point, I have 38 people that expressed interest in riding the hummerzine to port. I think almost everyone will be either at the hyatt or arriving that am to mco.

I know there was mention of doing the van instead, as it might be cheaper and hold more people. I would really love to surprise my dd's with the hummerzine and think I would stick with that. If others want to hop out now and go for a luxury van...just let me know. Nothing is reserved yet.

Here is the breakdown that I have so far...let me know if I missed anyone or got anything wrong. I thought about putting all kid families in 1, but there were too many so I just randomly split people up, based on when I heard from them....

limo A
fourmcds 4
birkner 2
liserann 4
mexicanM 3
tiggerhappy 2
been2 marc 2
kymma 2

limo B
clynne 4
nskjerven 4
tammyalph 3
granmaz 2
lwilliam 2
ukangel 2
tigger 1221 2

with this breakdown, it is 19 people per limo and works out to be about 21.00 pp plus tip. I think that might be a better deal than most transfers to the port. I was going to call them and ask about their cancellation policy and see if I could reserve them for the am and then we could finalize names per limo based on departure time later. was thinking we could have one leave at 9 and the other leave at 10, unless everyone can make the 9 then we could just follow eachother there! would a 9 departure be too early (with the grocery stop) to arrive at the port?

and hold more people. I would really love to surprise my dd's with the hummerzine and think I would stick with that.

Since keeping the cruise a secret from the kids for another year is totally out the window, (I think I kept that secret about a week!) and the kids occasionally mention how much fun a limo would be, I would really like to stick to the Hummerzine option, too. I think I can keep this secret! But, I must have missed...what options do we have for luggage??

Carolyn

Thanks for the heads up. I did have a bit of a Gregory Maquire binge after reading Wicked. I read Mirror, Mirror and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister shortly after. Lost sounds interesting...I've put it on THE LIST.

Carolyn

Being a Witch, I loved Wicked! My daughter has the soundtrack to the Musical (I know, not the same as the book, but in the musical Elphaba lives! Redemption!) anyways, we live in a little town, and the traveling Broadway show toured through POrtland, Oregon last year, we drove two hours each way just to try to get tickets to Wicked the Musical - no luck. Mekayla really wants to see the musical, she knows all the words to all the songs by heart. I liked reading Son of a Witch, too. we tried to listen to Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister on the books on tape but it was too hard to follow. I'll have to get the book and read it to DD.

The eclipse starts here around 6:30. Right now it is snowing, big pretty stick to the trees kind of flakes. Hope it clears off by this evening. Would love to be able to see it. It was clear last night:sad2: obviously.

Carolyn,

Those with kids should let them help with the decorating. There may be a contest (not official yet) and if there is there will be a catagory for families with kids under 13.

Carol

Oooh, I wonder if we'll be able to see the eclipse in Oregon?

DD10 would love to participate in the decorating contest, but we're pretty eclectic - we're all over the Disney board with Stitch and Aurora and of course Mickey.

Okaaayyyy....we may have an intensely Aurora-themed extender:). I assume the themes are generally Disney related? No Hello Kitty?

Aurora is my ALL TIME favorite! I don't like her in the pink dress, though. It makes me so  when Disney puts her in the pink dress (ah, the things I get bent out of shape over...)

Big Parrot Heads here! :) Go to every concert I can and whenever I am in a grumpy  mood, in goes "cheeseburger in paradise" and instantly I am :) again!

I think that is one reason I love OKW so much. Usually as soon as I get there, the Jimmy Buffet music is playing and I feel so happy.

I am a little too young to be a "true" parrot head, but I love Jimmy Buffet!
I also have a thing for the Beatles, my mom says I was born too late!:rotfl:

look what I found on google....

"A lunar eclipse is when the the earth comes between the moon and the sun. Per NASA: "Rays of sunlight bend around the edge of Earth, filtering through the atmosphere." The moon then appears reddish. The eclipse will be visible from all seven continents. Some may see a full eclipse all day, whereas others will only get it at moonrise or moonset. We on the west coast will get the eclipse at moonrise. Again from NASA - "Observing tip: Find a place with a clear view of the eastern horizon and station yourself there at sunset. As the sun goes down behind you, a red moon will rise before your eyes." The next opportunity will be in 2025.

Moonrise"

SWEET:cool1: :thumbsup2 Thanks for the info...how cool. Hope we can see it through the rain! LOL:rotfl:

Oh, no! The pink dress is WHY she's DD's favorite! :)

Carolyn

those pirates are looking at 7000 (I just know it) so you guys gotta' keep up the chatter, I am going to knitting class, so do me proud and protect 7000!:lmao:

I know we discussed Quality vs Quantity but I can't help myself....

And I think I'll have a cheeseburger for lunch....at Paradise bakery....does that count?
