Karen, are you the one who owns the wine shop and/or the one who recommended the wine tastings onboard? I've done the martini tasting, but never the wine tasting. Anyone have experience positive or negative with the wine tastings? I think I want to try it.

Martini tasting...WOW. didn't do that one on my last cruise. Is that one you recommend? I know dh will want to do the wine ones, but martini tasting is more my style Do you think the tastings are reasonably priced for the amount they give you?

Yes, we have the wine shop in Benicia, Ca. We did all of the wine tastings on the EB panama repo in 2005. They were fantatic!! We were really fortunate to have the General Manager and Master Sommelier of the Napa Rose in DL to almost all of the tastings as well as food and wine pairing seminars in Studio Sea.

I hope that he will be onboard again. I am planning to email him about it soon.

Any chance of you shipping special wine ahead? I would love to choose my wines ahead of time. Will DCL allow me to ship wine ahead or can I put it in a box with other items to ship to my stateroom?

I have PM'd to join a team, but haven't ordered a fish extender, I guess my question would be, in order to be a part of this do we need an extender or are there other ways we can still participate? Not that I am opposed to ordering one, but it would be pretty plain (since my crafty days are over...haven't scrapbooked in 4 years (my poor youngest dd has no books for herself vs. my oldest who has 10 or so!)) or a mess after letting my kids decorate it!

I am a huge martini fan. One of my biggest suggestions for DCL is that they have a Martini Bar like on Celebrity. Martini tasting was really fun. I don't like dirty martini's but will drink pretty much anything else.

I usually will drink martini's when I am out, and prefer an apple martini with vanilla stoli, but recently have enjoyed a dirty made with tanquerey. Not usually a gin fan, but it just seems to be much more mild. Then again the pomegranite martinis can be quite good as well.

As a former non-wine drinker, I'm learning to experience new kinds (well, new to me) because one of the lawyers where I work is President of the Greater Lansing Vintners Club (local group here) and he has convinced many co-workers to attend various wine tasting events in town. It's pretty interesting learning about new kinds of wine, so I can't wait for the wine tastings onboard! And Karen, our very own DIS wine expert can help educate us all!

My wife (UKANGEL) and I really enjoy our wine. I normally get a delivery every two months from

I also get more Frequent Flyer Miles for Virgin Atlantic, which also helps my vacations.

One thing I have found from my experience is that wine seems a lot more expensive in the US compared to the UK (and it is about the only thing, everything else is cheaper in the US).

LivingtheWDWDream- I’ll say a prayer for your family. So sorry you have to go through this.

I’m so excited about the announcement for the new ships. It looks like they’ll probably fit through the Panama Canal by the time they’re in service, since the canal is going to be expanded, and the new ships won’t be in service until 2011 and 2012. It doesn’t surprise me that we don’t know where they’ll be sailing. There’s no cruiseline in the world that has itineraries planned out that far in advance. Most cruiselines are only booking into summer or fall of 2008 right now. The “hot” cruise itineraries tend to change every couple of years (Alaska, and more recently Europe—one of the newest trends has been South America and the Galapagos, and we’ll probably see some more ships headed that way in the next couple of years). I can be patient though- I need to save for this cruise first, and lord only knows what the prices will be like in another 4-5 years!!

Soooooo tired! My stitches come out tomorrow. I can’t believe it’s been two weeks already since my surgery.

Could i ask that you send some good thoughts his way that he either isn't as serious as they say or if he is that he passes without too much pain?

The mini navigators are my sailaway gift. I will hand out at the DIS meet if we have one the day before we cruise and then will be at the DCL terminal bright and early on sailaway day. I will be up front near the chairs (where you enter to board the ship) and pass them out there. If you don't find me before I get on the ship they will "MAGIC"ally appear as the first item in your fish mail at your stateroom! They are there before anyone even can go to their rooms! Imagine that!

Sounds perfect! I so excited - we have been on two cruises w/DCL and never did much at all with DISers. We were always with extended family and it was hard to coordinate. This time, it's just our family! And 15 nights!!! Plenty of time to play!

It's cold and rainy in Benicia. Glad for both as we really need it, but I would rather be by the fire with cocoa, or warm DOD, than at the shop feeling cold!
