I did it. (No, I didn't bedazzle my spanxx). I actually exercised. Hate it. All my muscles feel like jello right now. Please tell me this will pay off someday.:)

I forgot all about the Lose Before You Cruise thread on the Ship of Thieves site. Maybe before John goes to all the trouble of setting up a new thread on the DIS, he could just add the info to that thread since it is already set up. Sounds like a good idea to me. :thumbsup2

Great job on exercising! :woohoo: I had planned to go to the gym after work today, took my workout clothes and shoes with me, but on my way to the gym, the giant magnet on the roof of Subway sucked my car into their parking lot! :scared: I hate when that happens.

I love the idea of a weekly weigh-in. I'm a lifetime WW member but I'm 11 pounds above goal weight. Right now I'm doing WW online.

There is a "Lose Before U Cruise" Forum on the Ship of Thieves Discussion Board. Couldn't we use that for the weekly weigh-in?

Online WW? I may have to look into that. I think the Ship of Thieves site is a good idea.

I'm sooooooooo excited about the new ships!! I announced that here (to my mother and nephew), and I could just see my mother roll her eyes (figuratively). My nephew is excited---we've already discussed 2012 going (he'll be 15 and Sydney will be 5). :lmao:

Let's plan on the having the Dis Board Pirate Group photo on Pirate Night. Meet promptly at 7:45 p.m. in the atrium. We will have Shutters take photo at 7:55 p.m. DCL and guest services will be very prompt on the time because photos start up at 8 p.m. again with Mickey (if they stick to the same schedule), so I will arrange for Mickey to come out five minutes early. We will work with Shutters for 10 minutes getting everyone positioned in the picture and then at the last minute Pirate Mickey (or another character in pirate attire) will just show up, step into the picture for a few quick minutes and be on their way. NO INDIVIDUAL PICTURES WITH CHARACTER DURING GROUP PHOTO! Thanks!

Cool! Count me in! Be there or be square!

This is so exciting. I can't wait to hear the names.

They look too big to go through the Panama Canal. I wonder if that means one of them will be permanent on the West Coast.
Definitely too big for Panama Canal because the Magic and Wonder are PanaMax and the new ships will be much bigger. WOOHOO! I want to be on the maiden voyage!!!!!

Wow what a day!!!

Ok, it is official and Jeannine and I are going on the East Bound Transatlantic Repo cruise!!!! Ordered a dvd camcorder today so I can record right on DVDs and then play them when I get home! Of course we are going to rebook onboard and have them fax a request to IC for the new ship(s). This is in addition to the one our TA faxed into IC back in January that we wanted to do a repo on any new ship any category after 2008. So I think we will be covered on that. :thumbsup2

The new ship has about 400 more staterooms than the existing ships. Also, the rendering is rather decieving as the ships are 2 decks taller than existing ships, but even if it isn't panamax now, it might be by 2011 because they are expanding the Canal. Otherwise, I am still up for a cruise around Cape Horn. Antarctica anyone???:beach:

How cool that they're expanding the Canal! Didn't know that. Sorry for being too impatient to read all the posts first before posting! Bad habit! I just get too excited to wait :)

So, for you folks who have already faxed a request to IC, is it a form you got somewhere or do you just literally type something like, "I'm requesting a Cat. 3 on the innaugural sailing of the new ship in 2011"?

Details please! I want to fax mine tomorrow from work!

Yep, that would be me. As it gets closer I will post the information that I need for it, but if everyone keeps the stuff up to date, I can generally pull most of the info on the rosters and event listings.

Since I've done it a number of times, it is pretty easy since I have it all formatted now!

:confused3 what is a mini nav? Do you make minis of the navs on board the ship for everyone? in real time? You bring a scanner/printer and everything? duh??? this sounds pretty tough to do. Am I thinking correctly here? Totally great, but really time consuming.

Just a regular word document - no special form (that I am aware of). DCL told me today that IC isn't taking requests for the new ships - but who knows. I sent mine! I don't trust anyone who answers those phones - I don't think they necessarily get all the information, or sometimes the information changes. So better safe than sorry right

So back to the letter:

Dear Disney Inventory Control:

My Castaway Number is ******. I would like to request the following:
1) Any suite that can accomodate 6 people for any special maiden sailing in 2011 and/or 2012.

Thank you,
then I give my full name, address, email, phone number.

Is this what others do? It worked for me to get the Roy last January!!

The mini navigator is a little booklet I will put together that is separate from DCL's navigator. It will list all of our special events (from this thread) as well as all the Dis Board cruisers and their staterooms as well as any special occasions that may be happening with any in our group during the cruise.

I print them before I leave town (but yes, I have been known to bring my printer/scanner)

Thank you so much! I didn't know if they had a fill-in-the-blanks sort of form or something. That's exactly what I needed to know. :thumbsup2

Thanks for doing this - that is so nice! Maybe this could be the first bit of fish mail on Saturday the 10th? Or do you like handing them out personally and at the first DIS meet? Don't mean to change your plans - I'm just on my job getting the 15 days covered with fish mail!

Do you need help to offset the printing costs? Thanks again - this will be great to have!

Noel,
Ran into two other Woodside families here at Northstar - kids are in school with mine. Have you already flown back home? We are staying until Friday and think we will be driving home in the storm. But I want some more snow before we leave! Our cabin is on the golf course, and we could be golfing instead of building a snow man with the lack of snow!
Lisa

Several of our friends are also at Northstar. We have been skiing at Squaw forever and have never tried Northstar. I flew home yesterday and went to my daugher's home in Brentwood until this afternoon. I had heard a storm was coming in and the winds during takeoff made the flight pretty bumpy. Before I went home, I stopped at Canada Cleaners and Roberts and the parking lots were fairly empty for a weekday.

This is just a suggestion. I know we went nuts trying to figure out what to bring, and I felt bad for those who thought they "had" to bring something to exchange.

Any thoughts?

I feel everyone should participate if they really want to and not feel "obligated". This should be a fun exchange not one that drives people around the bend.
Disboards seem to attract the cream of the crop when it comes to outstanding human beings!!

Laura

What an outstanding story!! You are to be commended for being so brave and strong during your illness. I am so glad that fellow DIS board members were able to help you. When my sister was so ill with cancer, it was fellow members of her support group that helped me as much as they helped her.

I like the idea of 15 (or even less) nice things that we all contribute to the cost of. What could they be? Off the top of my head I can think of visors, water bottles, coffee mugs (although they would be very heavy, so probably not practical), bandanas, fanny packs. The playing cards sound very cool!

Am I on the right track? Please elaborate on how they'd be paid for. Would one of us would be responsible for locating a source for a certain item, reporting to the group the cost and then those who want an item pay for it? Or would 2-4 of us go together on the cost for 95 of a certain item and then give them to everybody (as our gift)?

I think this is a great idea. Perhaps there could be 15 items chosen by a group of us. I think we should divide into teams and have a team leader for each team

.

THE ONE THING THAT SHOULD ALWAYS BE EMPHASIZED IS THAT NO ONE IS REQUIRED TO DO ANYTHING BUT WILL BE A PART OF THE GIFT RECEIVING AS LONG AS THEY ARE ON THE Roll Call. :flower3: Carol

Truer words were never spoken!!

You can go to this address to download the old spreadsheet from our last cruise:

http://idisk.mac.com/john.halkias-Public

If it asks you for a password, it is "binky"
.

I am unable to download from your site. Is that because I am running Windows software? I only see the ability to upload.

May we have someone take a picture with our own cameras?

Yes, I can organize it! I think the key to it all is flexibility - if someone wants to do something on their own - let them do it! If someone wants to take charge of a day, great. But no pressure to anyone to do anything. I was suggesting teams just so the cost will be lower and we can have an element of surprise with what ends up in your fish mail!

If people can email me if 1) they like to take lead of a day or 2) they'd like to be on a team and I can organize it; then I will PM PJPoohbear with updates for the website.

Sound good? And if someone else is just DYING to take this over, please push me aside!

I can give updates - like if we need someone take charge of a day or need more people on a team.

So no more :headache: I hope !! This is going to be fun! :woohoo:

I think your offer is very generous. I will be happy to be on one of the teams or help in any way I can.

SF has a beautiful new port - ships coming in all the time! That would be so :cool1: !

When I got home, I saw an email from my TA about the ships. I immediately asked her to fax in a request for a suite on the maiden voyage. I will let you know if I am successful!!

So, for you folks who have already faxed a request to IC, is it a form you got somewhere or do you just literally type something like, "I'm requesting a Cat. 3 on the innaugural sailing of the new ship in 2011"?

Details please! I want to fax mine tomorrow from work!

If I have success with my TA or some sort of response from DCL, I will post here.

Noel
