Wow..you guys have been busy. I think it's been 50 pages since I last posted. So here's the general....
Well wishes to all that were/are sick. :grouphug:
Welcome to all the new folks joining this crazy group! :rotfl:
Sorry to hear about all the snow :guilty: , it's been beautiful this weekend in cal. It's supposed to start raining this week, which is good cause we need it. I have been preoccupied getting my med stuff together so I have been lurking around just reading.
I took the info given by one of you and went to my local home depot and got some paint samples for the med door. ;) We'll see how those work out.
I've given my lanyard request. Would definately be interested in the bracelets. Sending my check for the fish extenders....all this for a cruise over a year away!
Somewhere on here someone asked about blocking rooms for a prestay in florida. Would someone let me know who that was so I can get in on that. We'll be flying out the day before.
Geez, I'll be ready for this one before we even get on the plane for spain. Huh I rhymed...:rotfl:
Everyone have a great week.

Welcome back!

Oh, I really like their SECRET MICKEY idea. It would work so much better than a game of DIS tag (which could get pretty pricy if you end up with 30 cabins playing!!). It works like secret Santa, where you have drawn a specific DISer and you give them 5 surprise gift over the course of the cruise. I like the idea of spending like $40 (or something) :scratchin on someone that you are getting to know over the next 15 month, instead of trying to come up with a whole mess of inexpensive things for tag. OR....Maybe we could do Secret Mickey for an 'adults' exchange and the kids could play tag?

Hmmmmm.....wadda ya think?

I like the secret santa idea for the adults and tag idea for the kids!

And it all happened because my mom had a dream...and we carried it out.  [/QUOTE]

This brought a tear and many memories to me...

My dad passed away in 1995 when our DD was just 10 months old. Our DD certainly made the last months of my dads life very full and lively! My DH and I had plans to go to DL and my dad passed away the day we were supposed to fly out. My mom and DSis insisted that we go and let "the magic" take us away for a few days as they new that I would need to take on everything when I returned. We saw the Candelight processional for the first time, when it was still held by the train station at the end of main street; David Ogden Stiers narrated and it was just magnificent. I cried the entire time remembering my dad and the special connection he and I had to music. It really was special that we had Disney to take away some of our pain.

My mom became even more a part of our world and our travel plans after my dads death. We took her to DL with us in 1996, 1997 and 1998, we lost her in 1999 when DD was just 4 and a half and they were so close. We all miss her tremendously and know that she would have loved to be cruising with us if she could!! She loved Disney!!

For those of you with your parents still... hold them close and treasure them!!!

OK, looks like it's just me again at the end of the night! I'll leave for a while now...

Hey Karen,
Thanks for sharing your stories of your parents. I just saw the CP for the first time this past Xmas. What a wonderful way to remember your dad.

I guess we're the nightowls of the group, huh?

So many nice posts - best wishes to all that are sick are recovering. The stories of parents/grandparents dying reminded me of my grandma. She was an incredible women, didn't marry until she was in her late 30s (which was uncommon in her time) but she was too busy with life. She married an older man, and he died of heart disease when my mom was 16. My grandma stayed a working women until her 80s. My aunt put the want ad's in her coffin when she died because up until the day she died in her early 90s, she was looking for work to keep her busy. When she died, she didn't have that much money despite all her hard work. But she had enough to treat our whole family to a trip to Hawaii. It was a great time with my siblings and parents. All your stories made me think of those wonderful memories. Good-night all. Lisa

Lisa,

Thank you as well!! My grandparents are all gone as well. Didn't really know my grandads as they both passed away when I was a baby, but I was close to both grandma and grammy. They both were very vital and very different and lived till 95 and 86!!

Sweet Disney Dreams!!

I am usually up till 1 or 2 am pacific, just my natural timeline, have tried many times to get around it, but it doesn't work.

I am usually up to say Good Morning to our UK bunch!

Saw on sports tonight that both of our bay area teams are at spring training in AZ and it looks cold and rainy. Are you experiencing "our weather" in your neck of the woods?

Yes, it was raining most of the afternoon and changed to snow around 5:30 (I live in No. AZ). We got maybe an inch or two but it didn't last long. I love it when it rains--sounds weird, unless you're a Zonie. I heard once that AZ is the only place where people GO OUTSIDE when it rains! It's true!:thumbsup2

I love the rain too! Really love storms with thunder and lightning as it is so rare here. I used to travel all over the country and would get so excited with storms. The clients that I was training all thought that it was too cute that I was so excited, just every day to them!

That said, I'm not to fond of driving in rain or storms as most Californians (mostly imports, I think) do not drive well in the rain! But I love being at home when it's raining and I always sleep wonderfully when it rains! (Unless it's lightning, and then I'm up all night watching it!

WE are amazingly well organized to thanks to Aunty Brat and many other wonderful DISers on our thread!!

Thanks to all!!

:sad1: Oops, wasn't complaining - was really more of a sarcastic comment - 'over' organised, like almost your every move on the cruise;) !!! I am soooo grateful to Aunty Brat and others here for organising things. I think I keep saying so.:flower3: to all.

Anyway, good morning all. Looks quite a nice day here. It was grey and cold yesterday but looks better and a bit milder today. Spring will soon be here.

Hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend

Good morning, Marilyn!

We are on the tail end of a typical "false spring in February" here in California. I've lived here all of my life and we always have this week of 70's weather that pops all of our blossoms and then we usually have a windy storm that blows all of the blossoms away.

Of course, I'm actually looking forward to some rain. We really need it!

Karen, wife of been2marceline

Ok - I'm back from a 2 day hiatus from the DIS (not by my choice, really).

As it turns out - we almost lost my sister after she gave birth to Sydney - it was really touch and go for a bit. Lisa is FINALLY out of ICU and into a regular Maternity ward room. I was able to take my nephew Ian to meet his new baby sister yesterday, and got to meet her myself. She is precious!

My sister is still in a lot of pain, but appears out of the woods (THANK GOD!!). Thanks to those of you who sent prayers, PD, hugs and thoughts her/my way - VERY appreciated.

I even told my sister & brother in law that you guys were saying prayers and sending good vibes her way, and even though she really doesn't understand me (and my Disney ways :rotfl2: ) she was really touched that you guys would do that for a stranger. Thank you again.

Will be in & out this week - between caring for my nephew and going to the hospital, not sure when I'll be online. I will also try to finish catching up (I'm so glad there weren't 30+ pages for me to catch up on).

I'm FREEZING here in MD - wish I was back in FL!!!

very sorry to hear about your poor sister and will keep her and her lovely baby daughter in our thoughts and prayers. It must have been really scary for all of you!
x

How cool that you and DH met through the DIS first! I hope that happens to me too! Hmmmmm....maybe I should be looking for a DCL singles thread.

lol....it was very very cool indeed....sometimes we have to wait quite a while to meet our soul mates! (and kiss a few frogs along along the way to meet our 'prince'!;)

So Vanessa-are you telling me I got myself into a mess by offering to make these magnets?! :lmao: Hopefully not!! That's why I'm asking for those who want one to PM me with their cabin number (it won't be on the mickey head, just their DIS name). My plan is for the boys and I to deliver them to each cabin. I figured we'd make it a fun activity AND good exercise (no elevators for this one)!!!!

These sound great! (As do the lei's, lanyards and everything else, must get myself organised soon to put my name down fro all these wonderful things!)..pm on its way LiserAnn:cool1:

So hoping that all will be well for your entire family soon! I was told that I would be High risk when we had our DD, so I was given the best hospital and was told that I might have to have emergency surgery as well. I was very fortunate and all went well for all of us and I have my one in a billion daughter!! (Odds were 1 in a billion that I could have kids!) No more for us though and I am so grateful to just have one amazing little girl!!

Karen, wife of been2marceline

Hi Karen, know what you mean as I have my own 'billion to one' little girl (not so little now as she's nearly 19 ;) ) Just makes them all the more special doesn't it?
