Well, on the last cruise I was John1 because there were two of us, and it kind of stuck, but Greek John is OK too . . .

My mother (who recently passed away) came from Greece, and both of my father's parents came from Greece. I am 100% and grew up with all the traditions and the religion. Amy (DW) is not Greek.

Your dis friends love you and you'll always be number one to them...

aka bannanaman, capt. spanx... :scared1:

capt. spanx is actually my favorite...:scared:

we should do a shot of oozo (not sure of spelling) to celebrate! :upsidedow

Morning and Happy Friday!!

My DH, John is known as John2.....or Charming.

PJ - you changed your sig! I was hoping to steal the logo with Jack you had in there...I know it wasn't a winning one, but Mickey would never steal anything, well maybe Minnie's heart....I guess I should follow the group though! :)

Everyone ready for the weekend? I am hoping it is nice out. Tomorrow is Haley's second birthday. We took a cake to her school and we'll probably make one for home tomorrow....we celebrated last weekend though.

Just how long is this flight from LA to FL? I think I remember around 6 hours or so right? I am going to need lots of tips on keeping children occupied!

V - we are flying LAX to MCO this Dec. Our flight leaves at 10:40am arrives 6:10 pm - 3 hour time difference. So...1:40 to 6:10 would be the time in the air. Looks like only 4 1/2 hours or so. I was surprised when I pulled out my E-Ticket and checked. Portlable DVD would be a good investment. We flew 7 hours on 2 flights from here with Aaron in Dec and had only books, crayons, markers, small toys, etc. He also flew by himself from Phoenix to Portland and back. He did fine with that, but he saw a little guy on the plane with a DVD player and asked for one for Christmas when he got home. Santa did bring that for him. ;)

I second the advice on the portable DVD player. It is a lifesaver for the younger set. Older DD's are happy reading a good book or two and listening to the iPod. Youngest DD watches her movies.

well, good day to you all:)

Had a bitter sweet day at school today as it was my last day. I had some beautiful presents from the teaching and non-teaching staff, but best of all some of the kids (all teenagers) ahd clubbed together and bought me the most beautiful silver bracelet. One girl even made me a cake with lots of pink icing and sprinkles as she knows I love pink.

I was really touched and only just managed to hold it together at the end of the day. Some the kids can be right brats sometimes, but they're a smashing bunch too. It made me so sad to think about poor Joanne, who died last week, being at school like these kids, laughing and joking with their friends.

Anyway......clynne......yes! horrible histories are a massive hit, especially with the boys at our school, they love all the Horrible Science, Histories and Geography....the more horrible the better! When we get near cruising time you'll have to let me know if I can bring some over for your son!

Happy weekend everyone:yay:

Good morning everyone!!

I was just catching up on the boards. Thank goodness we have slowed down a little. ;) I was only a few pages behind.

I need to go and get packed for the trip.:cool1: The kids gathered all their items last night. It is so nice that they can almost pack themselves. I just gave them a list, and off they went. I did have to go in and check to see if the outfits met my approval. ;) It makes it so much easier. Before it would take me a whole week to gether everyones things. :)

I will check in tonight. Have a great day everyone.

Have you given up work or are you changing jobs? It sounds the children made your day special. That too must help at this time with the death of your friend's daughter.

QUESTION: Where is Old Town Orange in relation to Disneyland...should I schedule a visit there next time I go to DLR? I might have some unused time share points and a long weekend visit to So. California is ALWAYS a good use of them. Patiently waiting to hear about a DLR DIS meet!

Those of you in the Charlotte NC area....turn towards Midland and wave to my brother! :wave2:

It is about 6 miles east of Disneyland. The area is best known for Antique stores (probably 20+), architectural salvage, etc. In the past few years, there have been a number of new independant stores opening - a lot of small speciality (ours, what my wife calls a "Frou Frou" store with lots of lace, jewelry, etc, a running store, a Cheese store, a couple of galleries, etc), and several new restaurants. Almost all are family owned.

We have a lot of people visiting Disneyland who come down for a few hours or a day, wandering the shops. If you are thinking of coming down, try to avoid Sunday or Monday. Most of the stores are closed then.

Good morning everybody!

So, excuse my ignorance, but who is Vera Bradley? What does she make that everybody wants to buy and needs display cases for? Some sort of knick-knacky type things?

Vera Bradley is a handbag company well known for their quilted, seasonal fabrics. They are apparently huge in the East and Midwest, but are just starting to make it out here in California.

You can see their catalog online at verabradley.com

They did make it very special Maz, some times when you don't think you've got through to them at all, they can really surprise you:)

I'm actually giving up for a while after a few very stressful years at home. My lovely dh has persuaded me to take some time out, at least for a while...not sure what to do with myself though! Oh yes....I can plan our cruise!;):cool1:

Well if you're any good at making these door signs or even the fish extenders then I have a job for you!!!

Well if you're any good at making these door signs or even the fish extenders then I have a job for you!!!

Maybe we should have a door decorating contest! We did a fish extender decorating contest last cruise and it was a blast. I'll see if I can locate a picture or two of the winners.

There was a small group of judges who went around and decided the winnners. There were different categories and you signed up beforehand I think. I'll have to go back to that thread and look!

Maybe we could have the logo with and without wording posted on the website when it's up and running. Or put the two different versions on page 1 of the thread for everyone to copy for their own door signs, etc. I'm not sure we want to volunteer Katie for customizing the artwork for everyone. You have seen the size of this thread, haven't you? :lmao:

I am happy to add a link to the website for the logos, which you can get the info for from Aunty brat via PM.

So we are looking for the official one in our signatures now, a fairly plain one that we can personalize, and maybe a large file one to use on homemade t-shirts (8x10 300-500 dpi)?

Mom! Where is our designer? Can we put our order in?

Pj

lol Maz...never tried making anything like that....although I do make collages and paint, so who knows?;)

I copied the logo and added it to my signature, but it shrunk. There's a note in the window where I browse/select artwork for my signature that says the max I'm allowed is 500x100 pixels. But I thought the limit was 200 pixels in height or width. Anyway, it automatically was resized to 250x100 pixels. Looks ok, but was wondering if there's anyway to change it.

If you have the image hosted on the DIS via the signature function, yes it will shrink. But if you host it yourself on photobucket etc, and add the IMG file to your signature then you can choose a size up to 200x500.

Such a great group of kids! You must have made quite an impression to receive such thoughtfulness in exchange.

The first Horrible History order I made, I was so uncertain if he would like them. Must be to a child's taste, though, he LOVED them. We splurged and ordered 12 titles this time, but several of them appear to be multi-book sets. Should last him a month or so...:) Thank you for the offer...it would be fun to have one hand-delivered!

Don't know, but I just right-clicked on Bananaman's logo, copied and pasted into my signature and it turned out as you see it. But I'm trying to make it smaller because I'd hate to get the mods mad and have them just remove my whole sig.

If you are using the rectangular signature logo, it is perfect for the boards requirements! I choose to reduce mine, only so it matched my other pics.

I love Vera Bradley!!

Wow, ya'll I don't know how I am going to be able to keep up with this thread; I just spent the better part of an hour reading the last 10 pages! Whew.

I am so excited about this cruise, I had a dream about the ship last night, too. We just saw The Magic at Cape Canaveral on the 27th and we saw The Wonder in Nassau on the 2nd, I am going to be completely nutty by this time next year.

lol apparently I'm the only librarian they've ever known to be into rock music!;) I think they were sold on me as soon as they found out my musical tastes!!!:rotfl:

Just give me a nudge nearer the time and we'll sort out a great book for your son:)
