Hi All,

I have been having the day from h&**...my Alaska cruise may be falling apart and I will not know for sure until tomorrow. My car spent the weekend and then today at the dealership and work is about to drive me around the bend. I got home a little while ago and all I want to do is have a drink some chocolate and go to bed. Tomorrow will not be better in the morning, but hopefully I can regroup and get back on track tomorrow...

Laura

Chocolate, fluffy pillow, good book...hope tomorrow is a better day!:hippie:

I watched it from one of the balconies between the elevators, which was a good place to see the "show"--I was impressed that they made a point of facing different directions (forward, left & right) so people w/cameras could get a good picture. I think the best photos would be had from the main floor instead of where I was. It seems to me that the charactes on the main floor stayed around for awhile afterwards for some more pictures, but I'm not sure about this as I just went by myself and didn't have a little kid to worry about so I wasn't paying that much attention.

Here's one of my photos to give you an idea...

I have pictures (somewhere) where I am on the main floor, and I have a great shot of those on the stairs, but those on the landing are blocked by other peoples heads!! Enjoyed it anyway!

And it was Lisa's nightmare! We did something for everyone on the cruise . . . foam bananas with the date and "DIS Geeeks" imprinted on them. Almost all of us had stockings instead of the fish extenders (pre-Christmas cruise) so I just walked the entire ship one night (yeah, EVERY deck) with my big box of foam bananas and stuffed them into every stocking I found.

That is what we did with the pirate beads also. Probably put them in stockings of folks that wondered why in the heck someone would put beads in their stocking. :confused3 :rotfl: :lmao:

You guys were talking about this a little while ago, so I will share my story . . .

I know you all have probably heard enough from Kim, Angie, and me about the great group we had on our 12/9 DD cruise . . . we spent about a year getting to know each other.

My mom had been ill for about a year. On the weekend before that cruise, I got a call from my sister that she had talked to my mom, and she did not like how mom sounded (my sister is not in town) I called mom, and also did not like what I heard (she sounded very sick) so I rushed over and called 911. They took her to the hospital that Saturday night, and she had a terrible infection - by Sunday she was on life support, and that evening we decided to cut that off, and mom passed away.

We buried mom on Wednesday, and decided with a heavy heart to still go on our vacation - mom would have wanted us to. My friends here were an unbelievable and uplifting group to me in a very difficult time. I could not believe the kindness from many who were total strangers to me and my family other than the contact on these boards. I believe I got more hugs at the terminal from my DIS friends than I received from people I knew all my life at home, and it made all the difference in the world to me.

As someone said, cherish your parents, you never know when you may lose them.

John,

It was the same when my dad died, my mom inssisted that we go to DL and the warmth from the people there was so helpful. If we had had this group I know that we would have been hugged and felt even more warmth.

As I said before, cherish those that you love, as they are gone too quickly.

I don't know why, but I am having trouble keeping up with our thread . . .

That doesn't sound right . . . I can keep up, but I am not posting as much. With our DD thread, it was more like being in a chat room because we all kept talking to each other, and I think we were online a lot at the same time. I seem to often be out of sync with the pattern here - maybe because we have more people out West, and less on Eastern time.

Here, the pattern seems to be very different, and the thread seems to "never sleep". I also find that when I go to comment on something, someone else already said it, so I just keep reading . . .

Anyhow, just wanted to say I am still out here, just reading along since you all do such a great job of answering the questions I would comment on!

Ditto here, John1. Thought it was just me, maybe my current winter rain blahs. I'm reading constantly but not my yacky self so much. :confused3

I'm with you two on the thread sleeping habits!! Also, oddly enough I feel like I am one of the few with children who are coming.... Is that a good thing for them on this cruise or a bad thing.

Also, see johns question about the characters. Does this also mean that our little ones will have no troubles getting chairs at the mickey pool?

AND WHERE IN THE **** IS MY CAT 3? (I had a really really bad day today, it was so bad this morning, I had to go outside in 30 degree weather and run in my work clothes to calm down) SO WHERE IS IT!!!!

kim

:grouphug:  :grouphug: We need to go to Disneyland!! ;)

But I have my daughter booked to go with me and she would miss school. BUT, I am hoping with some persuasion, the school will let her miss and maybe take some work with her. We can have school at sea! As for my son, he has finals the last week of school, so I haven't booked him yet. He would have two and half days after the cruise left in the school year. I want to talk to the school first. I hope I can add him to the cabin we have booked if the school gives the all clear.

A l2

Hi! DD will miss school, but its 2nd grade. I figure between the 2 of us, my mathematics professor father and a few friends, we can keep her caught up. Although I must admit, DH and DF are better teachers than I. My response is usually, I don't know, you just do it that way.

Hmmmm....

I sense a money-making opportunity for myself.

Let's see--Me: 35 years experience as a first grade teacher and elem. school reading specialist, :teacher: retired about a year... A ship full of kids cutting school ... parents facing homework and conducting ship-board school...

I could probably get about $350 an hour, especially toward the last few days when those homework packets are hardly touched! Wait, maybe $450...

Don't all PM me at once!!!

PS
JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

And here's another for you and your family. :grouphug: It has not been that long and I know the pain is still fresh and raw. We still think about you all. And I will give my mom an extra hug when I see her on the 7th again. I'm going to bring her home with me for a few days so she can go to dinner with us and our DD and DSIL for my birthday on the 10th.

JOHN, AMY, LISA, KIM, STEVE, VANESSA, ANGIE, DENNIS and JOHN, I MISS YOU ALL!

Ok, now you guys are just making me cry tonight. :grouphug: I have never been around a group of people that have just simply such good hearts. :grouphug: I need to retire and hit the road now! I have friends I need to visit!

Me too! Before getting pregnant, I was up to 5 miles about 4 times a week. Then my metabolism stopped after I had my son and I've been struggling ever since to stop gaining weight. But this IS the year I'll get back to the fitness level I was at before. :cheer2: GO ME!

I think a few of us (me unspoken until now) have talked about getting back into shape, or into shape. Maybe we can have a little sub-talk within this talk to help support each other? Maybe a Monday call - a report on how we have done the past week with eating healthy, exercise, etc. Monday might be a good day as I know I always have the hardest time over the week-end. If I know I have to "give a report" maybe it will help me keep on track! After all, with 14 months to go, we can all be in excellent shape for the cruise!

I joined Curves almost 2 years ago and I think the getting weighed and measured once month - plus seeing it on a nice little graph helps keep me on track. I can tell myself what I want but seeing it in black and white helps to keep me on the dies more. 43 pounds lost, as of yesterday, and hopefully still counting.

Thanks for the welcome, I started reading the new posts today and I discovered that although I felt like I was getting to know all of you guys but you can't get to know me if I never post. So, I will make an effort to post on a regular basis, even if I don't have anything clever to say. ;)

Absolutely correct! Glad you decided to join in.

I had to laugh at that because it reminds me of my days at work. The lawyer I primarily work for will be 80 in a couple of months and a little forgetful. So he's always calling me into his office to find things for him:

Him: "Can you get me that letter I sent the other day?"
Me: "Letter to who?"
Him: "You know...to that one guy."
Me: "What guy?"
Him: "You know...in that one case I'm handling."

:rotfl2: Have to laugh or I'll go nuts!

Holly, didn't you take "Mind Reading 101"?

Wine, chocolate, wine, chocolate... always helps, can't hurt (as long as you are not driving!)

Have a better day tomorrow!

Wow!! Congratulations!

I joined curves in October and did well until I pulled my back out (degnerative disks since I was 24ish) and then DD with stomach flu, then 2 weeks in WDW at christmas, then I had the flu, then my DD had the other flu...

Anyway, I'm getting back into it again slowly. Updates and encouragement are always welcome!

Ok, it's just me again, and it's only 10:45ish.

I'll come back right before bedtime. A bit earlier tonight for me, so I will say Good morning to our UK friends!!

No, you're not the only one...;)

Ah, Cheri! How is the weather today? It turned cold and overcast today, we are due for quite a storm (I hope) the next couple of days. We really need the rain.

I remember one spring training in AZ, I drove my folks down so that they could stay for a month in "warmer" weather. We got there and it was in the low 30's at night and only in the upper 40's during the day! I took them around to the mall for warmer clothes and then I flew back to the SF Bay area. It stayed cold down there until their last couple of days! I think that it was much colder here that month, but theys still didn't get much warmth!

Yesterday (Mon.) it was rainy and snowy--I had a couple of inches on my car this morning, but there was none on the ground--it had already melted. Most of the day it was cloudy & cool, just the way I like it!:thumbsup2 I'm sure the folks in the midwest are scratching their heads over that one! Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, high 50s, Thurs. the same and then on Fri. we get your storm, hopefully. Just so it's not raining on Sunday--I'm having my annual Academy Awards party, complete with 25' red carpet (red felt) leading up to the front door!:cool2:

Funny about your folks coming to AZ for warmth and getting the cold! The last time I went to SF it was in early Oct (about 3 years ago). I was totally fed up with heat (by Sept. I'm usually at the end of my rope) and was looking forward to some cool, foggy weather. I didn't realize that Oct. is one of the warmest months up there! I'd always gone to SF in the summer ("The coldest winter I've ever spent is a summer in San Francisco"). So I totally took the wrong clothes and was hot the whole time!:rotfl:
