....still trying to catch up....

Julie-Congratulations!!!!:cheer2: That is so exciting. I hope you don't have morning sickness so you could still come on the trip.... my DD was looking forward to meeting your DD and using the spanish she's learned:goodvibes

and good thing you didn't cause we weren't home :scared1:

Just got back from sister's house and bowling and driving my neice home to los gatos.

We had a honey baked ham, scalloped potatoes, yummy green salad, pinapple, potatoe salad and bloody marys, cookies, cupcakes rice pudding and CANDY for dessert, such a great lunch/dinner. Then we all went bowling which was totally fun, then home Paul just made me a croque-monsieur for a late evening snack.

Bloody Marys are YUMMY

Thanks I forgot to mention that too - we usually tip the driver half of what we tipped the guide.

I forgot about this too:rolleyes1 Did anyone ever answer about how much to tip room service? I thought they automatically included their 20% or so or we tipped at the end of the cruise as we do the room attendant and wait staff:confused3

Besides, after taking many wonderful vacations & cruises over the past 3 years, this will be our last vacation for a couple years because finances have changes so much with all the medical bills, so we're going to live it up and make it happen no matter what! :goodvibes I hadn't expected things to change so quickly or so much after booking, so I probably should have cancelled, but just didn't think things would be affected the way they have been. I don't want to go into the details, but our lifestyle will have to change drastically for a couple years, until we get the bills from his treatment figured out. And once the school starts occupational therapy, then that bill will go away, lightening our financial burden in a major way.

Hmmmmm......there's a van in my driveway. Better go see who that is.

Holly...I totally feel your pain and understand. Last summer after I had already been settled on this cruise and making payments etc...my daughters ortho said she needed braces:scared1: Then he gave me the bill:scared1: :scared1: I freaked out..no way I could pay for this trip and braces...luckily her teeth did not cooperate and she is on the slow track to braces, but I have still had to spend a pretty penny on the preliminary stuff...additionally she was having problems at school..not like tyler but needed assesments, tests, therapists...OMG costs again came up. Well, after the braces I decided that no more going out to eat, movies, outside places to play. I gave my dd a choice...cruise or weekend outings etc. Now don't get me wrong, we still do take out once a week or two, but I bring my lunch and pack hers daily. She still gets to do fun things that cost money...when she is with her dad, not me. We do fun things for free. I can't tell you how much I have saved. Plus even though I went to dland 2 weeks ago, I paid nothing because I used my dvc for the hotel and my aunt paid for tix, food, gas. I have been working out every detail when I decide to go somewhere or spend money to make sure I can do it as economically as possible. Even our trip this weekend to dland..marr is gracious enough to share a hotel and the car ride down. You are doing a good job buying second hand or even free, but you will see a world of difference just by bringing lunch. I save at least $30 bucks a week..oh an I don't go to starbucks anymore (that was the hardest)...free office coffee for me.

Hope that helps...one single, broke mom to another....

Steph

Hello everyone. Sounds like everyone had a great Easter. We went to my sister's house yesterday and had a BBQ and an egg hunt. Today we went with my in-laws to a park and did the same thing. So I'm not exactly caught up! I didn't do anything special for the kids. I just made them a traditional basket that I pretty much shoped for yesterday! I am a bad mom I know. I really can't think about much more than the cruise and of course why my wig hasn't gotten here yet!

Kind of like saying "Good night John Boy" . . . and if Ian and I are the only ones who know that reference, I am feeling old.

I read "Cat's Cradle" in eighth grade. My English teacher thought I could handle it. "Slaughterhouse Five" is one of my favorite books. The short story "Harrison Bergeron" was actually in our High School English book. You can read it here:

If you would like a little sample of Vonnegut.

John - If it makes you feel better, I do remember it!

.

I think we should start this on the ship... I'll be Mary Ellen!!!

OK, so it is now moving into the 40+ days out from departure.

Has anyone else started collecting $1 bills yet, or am I the only one who comes with a roll of them for tips for room service, etc?

Another question, are tips included when you get drinks?

So, how many singles do you think would be good for a cruise of this duration?

.

You just want to look like one of those rich guys with all the dough!!! (you need a money clip to add to your accessories!!!)

I woke up very early today (6am) and was very, very sick. Throwing up and....well, details are not needed. This went on until about 10:30. I have slept off and on and have managed to keep a cup of tea and a piece of dry toast down this afternoon. Even V and Deb's dinners don't sound good. I must be sick. Just up now for a few minutesk but I am dizzy and heading back to lie down again. Happy birthday to Marilyn and Cork.

Oh Angie!!! Sorry to hear your under the weather... Try Ginger Ale... it's the first thing I could drink after I got sick...

Feel Better!!!

All three of my kids stayed in a crib till they were over 4 years old...then I would set the crib up in my room and some mornings I would wake up and find all three kids in one crib!!

My kids all loved their crib!! Noone ever tried to crawl out.

My sister taught me to crawl out because she got tired of helping me...

For dinner this afternoon I cooked fresh Maryland Crabcakes, a filet mignon roast on the grill, aspargus, fresh mushrooms, salad and apple pie!! So yummy...

Vanessa's sister says she can't wait to tell her mom how well I am feeding Vanessa!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well... I think you just blew the Royal Food Budget!!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

Can I come to your house next time???

We usually tip room service in cash. We start at $2 for one item and go from there. And we tip for each delivery.

Angie-Hope your feeling better soon...I haven't seen you or Dr. Hug on the dis much today.

I didn't order room service on our last cruise. How long does it take to get..that might be a good idea for the morning......

Thank you good to know:thumbsup2 I don't think we got any room service last time we were on DCL but I'm planning on having them deliver breakfast for DK this time around so we could hopefully sleep in:confused3 So would that be $4 every am since I would have breakfast delivered to my two kids:confused3 I guess I'll need a big roll of dollar bills too

They didn't know the difference. Ethan even said that Easter was his favorite holiday!

Same thing..PC morning I don't want to fight the rush..been through the PC before so it's no big deal. We chose this cruise because it was the same price as a 7 day cruise and it had so many sea days. I know that might be shocking, but our last disney cruise we were going going going...I just want to relax...take a breath.

Confession, the Easter Bunny shopped for cruise clothes for the kids...While driving over to my sister's Wilson in the backseat "man the Ebunny got me a lot of clothes for the cruise" He must know we are cruising...then through out the rest of the day he would come up to me and say, mom thanks for the xxx, oops I mean thanks to the Ebunny for the xxx. He totally knows that the Ebunny is me, but he has decided to play along and that will make the rest of the holidays while he is little at home enjoyable for us both :thumbsup2

That's why we chose this cruise too! I looked at the prices for the 7 night mexican riviera and this was not that much more for twice the days so it was a no-brainer for me and on our last DCL cruise we were going and going too and didn't see much of the ship ...didn't make it to the adult section or pool or even the goofy pool...of course we made it to the mickey pool that slide was one of their highlights:goodvibes Hoping to relax some on this one with all the sea days so don't want to overcommit:rolleyes1

Ethan told me that he knew the leprechauns were not real and Santa was but he wasn't sure about the Easter Bunny because he is scary and bunnies can't get that big!

Well maybe I'll take them on a different cruise line next time and see if they notice!

I think they'll notice that one:rolleyes: they'll keep asking where's minnie and goofy:lmao: besides DH and I usually take RCCL without the kids but DCL is for everyone and I trust their kids club better because of the disney reputation I figured they are better taken care off ...does that sound silly :confused3 I figure they screen people better than other cruiselines:confused:

Same with us. We actually have a group of people going to the Mexican Riviera in July. One of my friends that is going is the one that convinced me to go on a Disney Cruise. Then I backed out after I found out this one was cheaper. I know I'm a bad friend. Hey a bad mom and a bad friend:scared1:
